My husband and I went in for eye exams a few weeks ago. The Lafont sales representative (Garth) was there and the Vision World sales associates were pushing that brand (since it is luxury) and even told me they had no similar frames to the ones I liked in any other brand. We all discussed my frames at length, particularly a distinctive color on the inside of the frame. I ended up ordering the eyeglasses from that brand anyway because I did like the frames. The assistant manager said it would take 2 weeks to get them in and that they would call me. I went in today after receiving the call a few days ago that the glasses were in. I saw the frames and tried them on and immediately noticed that they were different than the ones I ordered, namely the distinctive color was absent. The assistant manager insisted they are the correct frame as she "wrote it down" and could not recall any frame matching my description. I insisted and suggested calling Garth to ask. I said in the meanwhile, I would like a refund since I have over $350 sitting with you and now we don't even know which frame it is that I wanted. She told me she cannot issue a refund for several reasons and that they would "figure it out." I insisted again and she went to the back office to call someone who confirmed to her that there are in fact frames matching my description and the frames they were giving me were wrong. I again insisted on a refund while I wait to see the correct frames before placing another order. She refused again and went to the back office. A few minutes later, she returned stating that she will give me the refund but that the store "cannot service me again." After a mistake by a store employee, a refusal to make me whole after confirming it was their error, and an eventual reluctant refund, the assistant manager thought it was appropriate to refuse me future service! Completely unprofessional attitude and sloppy service. read more

I see a real mix of reviews for this business- either great or poor which is odd. My family and I have been coming here for 20 years and have always received excellent service. Paul and Sandra are favorites as they care and are always incredibly helpful. No attitude.... Paul has been active with caring for Labrador Retrievers, to the point where they used to roam around the store- how great is that! Stay away! Horrible customer service. The only person that is nice is Sandra who is not in that day. She usually go above and beyond for customers which is the only reason I return to that store. We ordered contacts and they said it will take at least a week to come in. We got a new prescription! My daughter doesn't have glasses and she can't see in school. I asked for a sample or something to wear until the contacts arrive and they said no. Didn't even try to help. Was very abrupt. Now Sandra usually tries to find a solution and when she wasn't able to she's very nice about it which I understand. BUT these people today, had horrible customer service skills. I understand if they can't do it but at least be nice and not say that they don't care. Horrible place. Last time I will buy from them. I had my first exam here about a week ago with Dr. Carr. I felt she gave a very thorough eye exam. And today I went to pick up my glasses. I felt the entire staff here was very professional and very helpful. I did not feel rushed in selecting the frames. Everybody was friendly, and I also took notice of how well they all work together in making sure customers are taken care of. I definitely recommend this place for eye exam and glasses. read more

DC-37 AND UNIONS BE AWARE!!!! I called to make an appointment for an eye exam and glasses. The first lady put me on hold for about a minute and another lady answered the phone. The second lady wasn't as friendly. I gave her the same information and double checked that they accepted my insurance, even though they were on the list of places that took the insurance. I was told that I would have to pay $50 for the exam. I said ok, and called my insurance to see why I would have to pay $50. They told me that was wrong, and I don't have to pay anything unless I went over the allotted amount for the lenses/ frames. When I called Vision World back, the original lady picked up. I told her I had spoken to my insurance and everything should be covered. I then asked her again, why did I have to pay $50 for an exam when they are on the list of places that take my coverage. She immediately got an attitude saying that, "maybe it wasn't explained right but the previous doctor took the insurance and the new doctor does not, therefore I would have to pay for the exam. You can cancel your appointment if you don't want to pay." It's not about paying, it's about YOU trying to get extra money for something that YOU are supposed to be covering. If the new doctor doesn't take the insurance, that's fine but maybe this location should contact the insurance and let them know that they can no longer participate due to the doctor's preference. read more

Very disappointing visit to this store. I was surprised by how I was treated considering that I went there a couple of years ago for my last pair of glasses and they were so helpful and kind. However today I went there and this lady (one with tattoos on her arms) literally refused to help me. When I asked her to help me find glasses and asked her what options they said she kept saying "no options for what you are looking for" I asked her for her opinion on glasses that I tried on and she wouldn't give me any help what so ever. We had a wonderful experience here. I think the best thing about this place is that we never felt as though we were being steered towards a service or a product and everyone who helped us was so very nice and helpful. My husband had an appointment for his eye exam but it snowed overnight and he was not able to get out on time. When he called, they were very understanding and said he can come in whenever he could get there. Since I went to the gym early, I pick up hubbs and my son and we all headed over to Vision World. Despite not having appointments for myself or my son, they still accommodated us and after waiting a short while, we were able to see Dr. Sujoy. She checked all of our eyes and while hubby was getting his exam, my son and I picked out our frames. I got a nice lightweight frame that was pricey but durable and I'm sure I'll be using them for a few years before changing them out which is why I didn't mind the cost, plus, I look all sexy Sally Jessie Rafael in 'em. My son went with a pair of Tom Ford frames that look great on him. Hubby picked out a nice pair of Ray Bans that fit him perfectly. Our transaction was effortless. Once we had our eye exams and picked out our frames, it took another ten minutes and we were done. They called when our frames were ready and picking them up despite not having my receipt was an easy process as well. Most vision places to which I've gone will sell you the frame in the case and here at Vision World, I just love the fact that you're actually getting a new pair. It's so refreshing to feel like you're actually being helped and not being pushed to buy. They were patient with us and explained everything and I'm happy to have found the place where my family and I will get all of our eye care needs from now on. read more

I walked in today and I was the only customer in the store. I asked a couple of questions and got a basic answer. Ok....I'll deal with that. So I'm looking at all the pretty glasses in the case and still no suggestions or anything and asked to see one pair. Put it on with my mask on and just dropped the mask down a little so I could see how it rested on my face and she blurts out "please keep your mask on". Uhhh I don't know how you can tell if they're the right fit so I left and told her that she really didn't want to help me in the first place. I visited the Vision Word in Scarsdale on a Monday. The Optomolgist there was wonderful, she was friendly and caring which made me very comfortable. The ladies who work there are exceptional. Don't go here if you have insurance! They take advantage of the fact that you have insurance and up charge you for things that they shouldn't and on top of that they send your forms to your insurance to get paid through them as well! I hope they get audited for insurance fraud and close them down!! I ended paying almost $300 for a pair of "free" insurance frames with progressive lenses. I have not 1 but 2 very good insurances! I should not have paid anything for my eye exams or the free frames I chose, but they insisted my insurance couldn't be combined and that it didn't cover certain exams like contact exams. Okay, so then charge me my co pay of $50 not $300!! When I complained to the lady that what they were charging me (over $300) was ridiculous she then went to the man (owner) and told him I was complaining and he then lowered the price a few bucks. That's crazy! That's not how it works buddy I have insurance! Due to the craziness of covid and things being closed I had no other choice, but to pay them after I had taken the eye exam. But if you have a choice don't come here and if you do before the exam tell them you want to know exactly what they will be charging you and your insurance for. That's the mistake I did. Like I said they should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of people with insurance coverage. I told my insurance to look into them charging me out of pocket and then claiming payment through my insurance as well. I hope they open an investigation against them and shut them down!! By the way the ladies working there are really nice and that's how they rope you - in don't let them go somewhere else! Oh on top of all that they got one of my lenses prescription completely wrong and I had to drive back there and the. They tried to blame me not giving it enough time "to get used to them". I had to fight with them and tell them I couldn't see anything through one of the lenses. When they finally listened to me and checked it was the totally wrong prescription! I had to wait over 2 weeks to get my overpriced glasses done correctly - still not sure if they got it completely right! Again go elsewhere! read more

Had trouble finding a vision care professional that takes my insurance provider and then there was Vision World. Sandra, Dr. Carr and the rest of the team treated me extremely well, caring for my every need. I ordered glasses from here before Thanksgiving. I was told they would be ready on December 14. Okay, fine, I'll wait because i really liked the glasses. I called on the 16th to find out where my glasses were, but I was told they'd be ready on January 14. My sister tells me she gets a call about my glasses and they'll be in on February 14. Not only are my glasses frames so backordered, but the store doesn't even have my number. They tell my sister to have me come in and pick out new frames and give up on the backordered ones. I don't want to because i like the frames I picked, but fine, i pick new frames and they're ready 2 days later. Vision World was a true lifesaver for us last weekend when we found out our two year old son needed glasses. We called an hour before closing and they accommodated us with frames and lenses in less than an hour. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and they worked past closing on a Saturday to try and get my insurance sorted out for payment. paul farber who is "owner" of vision world is one of the most unprofessional individuals i have interacted with. i have previously purchased two pairs of eye glasses and years worth supply of contact lense from this place. they have a great selection of eye glasses that i even brought my sister from south jersey to purchase her glasses from here as well. as a costumer who has returned numerous times, you would think i would bw treated with respect. although there is a very small sign (not prominent displayed on each aspect of the walls), i was never informed that adjustments to a personal pair of sunglasses wouldn't be there responsibility. although one may assume that may be the case, my $400 celine sunglasses were ruined by paul. i had them adjusted for being too loose and they were completely ruined & when i went in (at a set time to speak with manager (guilliam) and paul) they both were extremely dissmissive to my concern that my sunglasses are ruined and unable to be worn! paul literally would not listen to concern or answer my questions & walked away in a dismissive manner saying "i cant do anything for you." you are a business owner paul, learn to be professionals & perhaps change your policy on not doing adjustments at all because you dont know how! you lack skill and manners. this place is some where i would never return transferring my prescriptions elsewhere because this place is owned by a person who doesnt know how to problem solve or manage a business professionally. paul you are terrible and dont know what you are doing. consider retirement and picking up a craft you actually may be decent at. because adjustments of sunglasses is not your forte. read more

Turns out they used some protective coating and didn't warn us not to use normal lens cleaner on it. We went to my daughter's pediatric ophthalmologist who said the lenses were such crap and totally scratched because of the protective coating. He said my daughter wore them so long we are lucky it didn't ruin her vision. Staying with EB Meyrowitz in the city for now on. Avoid this business for children's glasses. read more

I've been coming to this store for awhile now and have yet to be disappointed. My whole family comes here for their eye care and we are always treated like family. This is one of big pluses for this store....customer service. I'd walked into the store on a very busy day to see if they can fix one of the lenses that had fallen out of the frame. They took it to the back, and screwed the lens back on and was on my way. Again on a busy day and still service with a smile. Took myself and my two children (7 and 5) for an eye exam and had a great experience. Our doctor, Marnee (that's how my friend spells it - hope I got it right) was just great. Loved her. She gave us lots of time and was patient and comprehensive. Then it was time to get glasses (for two of us) and we had an excellent experience with the counter staff as well. My mom has been a long time customer of this store. She has an incredibly complex prescription and post having cataract surgery the complexity only increased. Paul was patient and thorough in explaining all of his recommendations and in the end my mom wound up with two pairs of glasses that she loves. While not a large store, they have a really good selection of frames for kids and adults and all of the salespeople we've worked with were great - particularly as we tried on style after style. This was my first time getting glasses here. When I first went in, I had a very friendly lady helping me. She didn't rush me at all which I really appreciated. I had a good experience and was told my glasses would be ready in about 10 days and they would call me when they came in. After 2 weeks, no word, so I called to ask if they had come in yet and the woman tells me yes. I told her I never got a phone call and she says "yes, we left 2 messages". Umm no. One message I may have believed, but not twice. So that was the first thing. Then I went to pick them up on a Sunday (yes, they have Sunday hours which I thought was very convenient) and they tell me there's no tech there to adjust the frames. Yeah, no techs on Sundays. Makes ZERO sense to be open on a Sunday and not have a tech there. How about at least letting customers know about that when they order the glasses so they know not to come back on a Sunday if there's a possibility of needing an adjustment (which there almost always is). read more

Terrible customer service. I have been going there for over 10 years . With each visit my dissatisfaction increases. Today was my last time there. This visit as with other times I filled out the necessary paperwork for my union coverage, and every time they tell me I am not covered. This time she asked me to show my job ID. I did and then she asked me if I am covered under my husband. What? I waited 25 minutes and she kept telling me I have no coverage! Then she started to argue that it is not her fault. I told her it is not my fault either and this should have all been approved before I came for my eye exam. By the way the optometrist was very professional. I made a call to straighten out the problem and got the eye exam. Then customer service had the nerve to tell me what frames I want, I replied I will take my prescription and money elsewhere! I also do not appreciate the fact that after they have a disagreement with a customer the woman start speaking Spanish in front of you about you! Meanwhile they all speak perfect English otherwise. This was the worst experience of my eyecare ever!!! The staff told me my glasses that I bought on line we're fake and tried to sell me theirs. Called the company I bought them from and they verified authenticity. Then this hack business ruined the frames I brought them while acting like they were my best friend!
