I went to this business with my son-in-law he was buying me glasses actually. The service was quick, friendly and responsive. The doctor stepped in right away and took my measurements and the lady who followed up on my order was great. Great customer service. read more

This is my personal opinion/experience. Not sure I'd call this an "exam." Didn't listen to me at all. Pulled on my eyelid with bare hand so hard my eyelashes fell out. Didn't "look" in my eyes at all. No drops.. no microscope thingie. Nothing. Flies flying around. Exam chair taped together with duck tape. Sorry had high hopes. Won't be back. Waste of my time/insurance visit. read more

Came here for an eye exam because they take my insurance. I was 100% pleased with the service here. Dr. Lax is the best and I'm so happy I finally found an eye doctor I can trust. All these years, he brought to my attention that I needed two different scripts for each eye and my previous eye doctors never prescribed me what I needed. Was in and out in 10-15 minutes eye exam and all. Amazing!! read more

Dr. Lax is excellent. He explains everything he is doing and is extremely thorough. The wait time is not long and he answered every question I had clearly and patiently. The exam was comprehensive, testing for abnormalities and changes in vision. It's not often that we get consistency and longevity in our healthcare providers nowadays and I am so happy to have Dr. Lax. read more

My eye health is super important. I mean.... whose isn't? I started using glasses a couple of years ago for my astigmatism- so I need to do what's right. Hubs on the other hand, has been using glasses since 11- so finding an optometrist to take care of his needs is major. We initially visited another optometrist right by Red Lobster on Central Ave- but with hubs new position, came a different plan. We've been coming to Central Optical for the last few years. One- this optometrist is covered by our insurance (2) it's local (not really but don't mind the short drive), and (3) he is super patient- I can go on. Dr. Alan Lax is experienced, professional and has a relaxed demeanor about him and doesn't rush you. Additionally, he provides personalized care and comprehensive eye exams. Based on my recent annual eye exam visit, my new prescription needs to be tweaked a bit compared to last year's. The ladies upfront are always eager to please. If you need a reminder of your paperwork, Dr Lax or the ladies at counter, will help you understand your vision insurance coverage and make sure you get the best vision care possible. Making an appointment is super easy and I realized- you can book one right online. I should talk- but my schedule has been notoriously busy and couldn't find free time. Plus Central Optical- did their very best to accommodate my busy schedule and finding an appointment time slot that met my needs. Thank you. read more

Central Park Optical - Which One Is Better? - Optometrists Near Me - Yonkers, New York

Very friendly staff. Easy to make an appointment and the Doctor takes his time to explain everything and answers all my questions.

Physicians practice medicine but Dr. Lax is very close to Perfect it. Dr. Lax not only provides a wide range of eye exams but is very on point of what I need. I have presbyopia but wear multifocal contact lens. It is difficult to find ones that offer vision correction for both distances. Dr. Lax gave me many samples to try on but told me which one should fit the best. He was right. The place is usually packed because Dr. Lax takes time to examine and answer questions .Make sure you have appointments ahead. read more

Very friendly and very accommodating. My only issue is that the hours area little limited which is to be expected by a small family run business. They have always tried to work around any issues. I've always been happy with the diagnosis and the fitting. read more

Dr. Lax takes his time with you. I have been seeing (pun intended) him for at least 20 years. He knows his stuff and his staff is pretty awesome too. read more

As far as eye exams go, this place is great. Dr. Lax gave me a very comprehensive eye exam and answered all of questions with a smile. No rush, no attitude. He was also very chilled out in terms of me being a pain in the ass and trying a lot of different lens combinations. Shame that the frame selection was a bit small as I couldn't find what I wanted, but I still recommend the place wholeheartedly. read more

I have been going to Central Park Optical for quite a few years and I have to say that I love the service I receive there. Dr. Lax gives a complete exam and is very patient throughout the process. Also, I like the fact that it's rare when I have to wait long - definitely a plus as I only see him on Saturdays. The only downside I have is their procedure for checking that your insurance is valid before you can make an appointment. read more

I am fairly new to Yonkers and I was searching for a new optometrist. I called Central Park Optical after reading all of the rave reviews and I am shocked to have had such a rude individual speak to me over the phone! Today is Friday and I called to see if they would be willing to squeeze me in for an appt. tomorrow. The individual over the phone said there was only one opening for 12:45pm and I absolutely took that slot. He sound annoyed that I requested a next day appt. and I understood that. I had an optometrist for over 15 years prior to moving to Yonkers and at that place, all eye exams, contact fittings and even exams for glasses were done in one day. I was curious to see if Central Park Optical had the same processes. I began to ask questions about how they go about eye exams & contact fittings. Just from asking questions, the "gentleman," over the phone was even more annoyed. He asked me what brand of contacts I use and when I told him I was unsure, WOW was he even MORE frustrated! I wear daily disposables and I threw out the box months ago. I went ahead and asked him why was he so annoyed by my questions and I am surprised he speaks to customers this way and he said to me, "Maybe you should find another place." I'm sure he did not expect I would confront his unnecessary rude attitude. I said to him, "Yes, Please cancel my appt.," and he hung up on me. If you have any questions, don't ask! You'll lose your appointment. read more

Fantastic Doctor! Dr. Lax is the best optometrist! He did a thorough eye exam and I am confidant that I finally have the correct prescription for glasses and contacts! They have a good selection of frames and after looking at the plastic ones I decided that a metal frame would be better. The first frame that I looked at was perfect! The staff there was helpful and the woman (I forgot her name) that I spoke to when I made the appointment was very nice and professional on the phone. Great customer service skills since I had called a few places and this woman was the nicest one and that is why I booked the appointment! I will highly recommend this place to my friends and family! read more

A friend recommended Dr. Lax so I went to see him for my yearly eye exam. He's very patient and took time with me to explain I had an astigmatism in one eye, which would change the prescription slightly. While I didn't purchase frames from him, I appreciate the person who showed me different frames to try on was as patient as Dr. Lax. I'll return when my eyes need another exam and perhaps purchase frames the next time. read more

Dr. Lax is wonderful, and the other staff are so patient and friendly. I think I try on like 20 frames each time and they just wait with me and give great suggestions. My family has been coming here for the past five years or so. One star off for frame selection (I have a smaller face... not freakishly childlike or anything... and not many frames are available in my size) but I realize this isn't Lenscrafters or some other huge chain store, so it's understandable. read more

My eyes have been a constant battle for me. I had laser eye surgery by Dr Delarusso in New Jersey, back in the 90's before the technology was available where Lasik was easy. Well after all these years .my eyesight has deteriorated a bit so its back to the glasses again. Central Park Optical provided great customer care, the helped me find a style of glasses I liked and the glasses were ready in less than a week. read more

Probably the best place to get glasses that I've ever been to. Have been a customer since 2015 primarily because of the excellent personalized service they offer, large selection of designer and affordable frames, they accept my insurance and have a pretty quick turnaround time. I've sent many people to them, and because their shop is tucked back behind Best Buy and Bob's furniture on Central Ave, they qualify as one of Westchester's best kept secrets. read more

We as a family have been coming to Dr Lax and his team at CPOptical for last 6-7 years. They are always on time, kind and very helpful. After your exam is done by a very experienced hands, you get to choose many selection of frames, lenses, so on. Best place for eye exam and filling the prescription. read more

This place is great. Looks small from the outside but has a wide selection of frames. The staff were very helpful and patient. They make good suggestions based on things you point out. I would not have ended up finding the perfect pair had they not shown me something they thought I would like. They are also very knowledgable about the insurance plans. When I go to other places, I feel like I need to read about my coverage several times before going in so that I know how much I can spend. As soon as I signed in, the girl told me what my allowance was and which frames I could look at if I wasn't interested in spending anything over that amount. Dr. Lax is also nice and personable. He explained the examination in more detail than most doctors would. I recommend this location! read more

Dr. Lax and his team are amazing. I have never been treated so well in my life. They are friendly and make sure you get the best deal possible. I was so disappointed in this place. The eye exam went well, then I was told the lenses alone were $150. i have never in my life heard of lenses costing this much. I didn't even bother getting glasses, and they refused to give me the prescription so I could go somewhere else.... wtf? Needless to say it was a waste of my time and energy. read more

Wonderful establishment. Alan Lax is an expert optician. All the people who work there are extremely helpful and can select frames that fit your style in 2 seconds. Everyone in this office is so sweet. I've been going to Dr. Lax for years, and lately, I've had a lot of trouble with my contacts. I found the perfect pair and no longer rub my dry eyes every two seconds. Dr. Lax really takes the time to listen and provide you with what you need! read more

Excellent establisment!!! The doctor is a first rate Gentleman. The staff is super friendly and VERY knowledgeable about the different types of plans. They showed me savings that I didn't even know existed in my plan. They're that customer centric! You'll also notice that they're one of those rare crews that won't oversell you. Between the staff and doctor I was able to find the perfect wide fit titanium frames for my face. Their prices are very fair too. I found their turnaround time to be very fast also. The Doctor is the real gem here though. After another store messed up my prescription and made me mad. This Doctor took the time to make me happy, even going as far as giving me an additional eye exam free of charge. Who does that in this day and age? This is my family's new eye store. We'll always go here from now on. What a first class establishment! Love them. As a side note to all you Wiley X fans. This store has them. I'll be getting mine worked on here from now on. read more

39 years in business and my response after visiting these folks for the first time, getting tested and ordering a pair is woah!!!! Awesome everything! I honestly don't know how one could do this to each and every customer walking into their store day in and out. The folks here care. The doctor is very humble, very thorough and certainly knows what he's doing. A gentleman walked in before me & was stating how his wife didn't like the glasses he had purchased... the doctor without any hesitation helped him pick out another frame. Awesome customer service. Vera is phenomenal. She literally made it seem like I was the only person there & helped me pick out my new frames. If you're looking for an eye doctor, certainly go here only! Appointments are needed, so make sure you schedule one ahead of time. You won't regret it. Keep up the good work ! :-) read more

First time going here and I was definitely pleased. I walked in and was able to get an appointment the same day. After trying to shop around for a new eye doctor, Dr. Lax was great. I had an unbelievable experience at Central Park optical. The staff was friendly and the doctor was extremely knowledgeable. We've always gone to one of the local warehouse stores for glasses. But I have two problems with warehouse glasses - 1) the frames break within a year and 2) because the lenses are thick, it takes 10 days between placing the order and the glasses being ready. So I tried Central Park Optical for the first time. Quick turnaround on the glasses and the frames look sturdy. But the best is the turn around time! I will definitely return here again. I hate waiting for glasses. Thanks. read more

I love this place! The ladies up front are the best. They are extremely helpful and will take care to make sure you are satisfied. I also like the selection of eyewear they have. They really have a great variety of frames and at reasonable prices. Once I saw Dr Lax for contact lenses, which I had not worn in years so he let me try a pair for a few days and when they weren't comfortable he let me try another pair and a pair after that until we found just the right ones for my eyes. I was not charged for those but only the set I finally purchased. They really give you quality, personal, customer service and that's rare to find these days. I would give them ten stars if I could read more

I didn't go to them for an eye exam which is why I'm doing 4 stars. It would be unfair to give 5 stars when I didn't take advantage of their service 100%. Anyway I wanted to put out a wholesome review for them because they really helped me out today. Wednesday night before thanksgiving my 6 year old glasses snapped in half right on the bridge. I had no other pairs and it was a holiday the next day. I drive every day to work and school and can not drive without glasses. I called every place that I knew of in the area to see who took my insurance. I was able to find one place, sterling optical, that did and I made an appt for Friday. Biggest mistake ever. I did my exam and am now awaiting glasses with them. But I spoke to them about my situation and asked them if they had a cheap pair of frames to put my lenses into that I could pay out of pocket for. That alone just seemed like an issue with my tech who seemed annoyed the whole time that she had to be at work. Even the doctor explained I could not be driving without my glasses. I ended up with no solution after they told me their cheapest pair was $100. Today my aunt told me about Central Park Optical and she had a pair of metal frames we brought to them to see if they could take my lenses out and put into. The technicians were very kind and explained to me unfortunately plastic can't get put into metal. But they continued to search their frames for one inexpensive and that would fit my lenses. Another technician came over and pulled out a small box of glasses very similar to mine and had the guy helping me use that. She told me the price they usually go for (which wasn't anywhere near sterling) but said she understood my situation and would give me a fair price (which she did). I assume these were out of style or older frames, but I really didn't care what style or color they were at this point. The tech found me a pair that fit my lenses almost perfectly (perfect enough as a second pair for sure!) and he placed my lenses in for me. The price was fair and all the techs were very customer friendly. Not to mention they take my insurance and I will be going to them in the future. read more
