Terrible customer service! The waiter sat us in the bar even though there more than enough free tables. The next customers who walked in were immediately sat on a table. After we ordered we asked him if we could sit somewhere else because the chairs on the bar were very uncomfortable and we had a long flight ahead. He said we cant do that because we already ordered. After that when we had to pay the bill we decided not to leave him any tips because of his bad attitude towards us and the very unfair customer service. One of the worst food places I've eaten at. Ordered the chicken & waffles, which came with a side of Mac and Cheese. Waiter brought out the dish of mac with his thumb inside squishing the macaroni. Gross. Mac & cheese was made with "cheese products," more like boxed mac n cheese. It wasn't fried chicken. It was three very very very dried pieces of chicken tenders -- more like chicken jerky. It was served with some weird mustard thing (not honey mustard), had to ask for a thing of BBQ sauce. Waffle was soggy, sad, and not cooked all the way through. Oh it was smooshed and deformed. It tasted weird, like you went to another country & drank their tap water. I stupidly ordered a slice of their apple cobbler. Could not eat. It was drowned in nutmeg. That's all you can taste. Food: Dismal. We ordered the American breakfast to share. It was very greasy. Over easy eggs were overdone and the bacon had the consistency of rubber. The "best in town" coffee was also terrible. Completely ignored by waitresses serving other sections. So we get the guy behind the bar to call her out. She finally comes to take our order and we ask for the check before the food arrives since we're trying to catch a flight. This concept befuddles her but she gets out check anyways. After a misfire she finally comes out with the check, she charges my card, and gives me the receipt to sign. I then wait for her to leave so I can sign and tip her in peace. Started with a spinach and artichoke dip...actually not too bad at all. Then we ordered a burger/fries, veggie burger/fries, and a Greek salad. Again, considering where we were, I was fine with all the food and satisfied upon leaving. It hits the spot when you're hungry and waiting for a while in the airport. Miserable experience here and the reality of the fact is, other than Dunkin' donuts, this is it. There are no other options for food in this terminal (before security) so make sure you come well fed or bring lots of snacks! We waited over an hour for our food and when the food did come out, the meals came staggered. By the time our entire party had their food, others were done eating. Waitress wanted an extra 5$ dollar tip in ADDITION to the baseline 20% I offered for using a second table for our food which did not fit on one tiny table. The only reason this place survives is because people have no other choice but to dine here. Literally, the other diner is 3 terminals away. I'm stuck in JFK for 8 hrs, but that doesn't bug me. On my first visit, while I was patiently waiting for a service, a hostess did not give me a menu to select my food from, yet approached me in half an hour to ask me if I'm dying it or not. She was concerned that I might be been just taking up space of a potentially paying customer. Second time, I have completed my meal and I was waiting on my dessert. She has approached me again!. This time a waitress came to my rescue, saying that I am at a customer and I have already eaten. I don't know, if this is just this dinner or a culture of this city. I'm very disappointed with the service of Bianca. She is very close and does not ask what her customer needs. There was no wait and we had to wait more that 15 minutes just watching her clean the other table while she takes her time cleaning and walking back to the kitchen even when we already called her attention. After flying 5hr to JFK from LA on Pop Chips and a cup of juice, I thought that a quick bite to eat from Central Diner was just what the pilot ordered. I called a cab and then ran to Central. Sat at the counter and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Waited for my cab. My plate was picture perfect but I ended up disappointed. The waiter never asked me how I wanted my burger prepared so I assumed that these were frozen patties. Incorrect. I was served a real, ground beef burger that was beautifully brown outside but so pink on the inside it was almost raw. My next complaint with Central Diner is that they do not serve pickles on burgers unless they are deep-fried...that's kind of strange. The fries were piping hot but bland crinkle cuts, like frozen Ore Ida's or school lunch fries. A bill of over $18 for a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke at an airport diner sealed the deal for me never eating here again. Should've waited to eat when I got home. read more
