We came to IHop for the first time in over 15 plus years. I hope this particular restaurant can redeem the one in Flushing that always always messed up my order every.single.time. I ordered the chicken fried steak with red mashed potatoes, spinach and ceasar salad. The steak was delicious as was the red mashed potatoes. They were a bit stingy with the spinach but it was still good. I requested more white gravy....it was good but should have been thinned out with some milk or cream. I actually really really really like this IHOP. Pros- Service is AMAZING. These servers really know how to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. The food comes out EXTREMELY fast. My food came out within 10 minutes honestly. I was shocked. Food was decent. Cons- The parking lot is way too small. Then on top of that they have valet if you desire. However the valet contributes to the congestion issue. While they're lining up cars to park, it's hard for the other people to get out. Also a con is the seating. Non of it is intimate. I can always count on this particular Ihop to be open early and on time. The food is very consistent with the brand and other franchises . The inside needs to be spruced a little . It looks very dull and lack luster at times. Also somehow my food is much more expensive when I dine here. I remember asking for seltzer water and being charged for a regular beverage. It is in a small strip mall on a dirty back street and there is a train station located right across the street that you can hear sometimes when you're eating. There was a few times I have visited and got great service, but majority of the time it was really bad. The food isn't presented well. They are lazy when it comes to presentation. The food is always good. I've never been a fan of eggs from breakfast food chains because most don't serve real eggs ( liquid eggs, microwaved eggs etc ). I prefer my eggs to come out of a shell. I've been told you have to specifically request "real eggs". The parking situation 98% of the time is horrible. They have a small parking lot. Don't even think about driving there after church hours on a Sunday. The wait time can get real long, like a hour or more long. I've never felt rushed when I ate here. This is a well oiled machine on a busy Father's Day holiday! Although there was a wait, which was expected, there was so much order! The general manager was active and kept such great order. The Rosedale/5 Towns ihop on Rockaway Blvd far surpasses any of the others I typically go to. Both in the quality & speedy service of the food and in their friedliness, professionalism and customer care. Took our 65-student 5th grade graduating class there this morning for their Senior Breakfast and the staff and service far exceeded our expectations. Rose, the manager, was a pleasure to coordinate with. She was honest and accommodating and ran & supported things this morning with grace and a constant smile. The wait staff was on it!!! Hot coffee, cold drinks, food served to all of us hot and ready, on clean tables with clean cutlery......the whole thing was terrific. So happy to hear we're welcome back again next year.
