We just had an incredible breakfast. After traveling internationally all day yesterday, we knew we needed to grab a hearty bite prior to our final leg home today. We are so glad we came here. I had their 2 eggs (over well) with home fries (with onions and green peppers) and the pork sausage patty. It came with toast (white with jelly). My breakfast was supreme. The eggs were perfection! My lovely had pancakes. She got 3 good sized pancakes. She added crispy bacon (3 slices). She came hungry but couldn't get around all 3 cakes. I helped. The cakes were grand even without syrup. I've been making cakes for decades and never nail what she ordered. The bacon was excellent. She had hot tea and I had coffee. Their coffee was first class; I had a refill. Our waitress was awesome. Super friendly and helpful. I believe the owners were on premises. They engaged with customers and the staff (always a good sign). If I'm right, one even manned the grill. We Ubered here from the TWA Hotel, which isn't even 15 minutes away. Be sure to hit the right pickup location in your app. We are so glad we came here. We arrived hungry and left full. I lived in the neighborhood 30+ years past this diner many times but today I decided to stop and get a bite to eat. It's very nostalgic staff are very friendly place was clean, which is must, I ordered breakfast which you can order up until 4 pm two eggs over medium with toast, grits and a salmon cake Now I don't need to remind you not everyone can cook grits, LOL When the food arrived hot. It was Delicious. I was intrigued by those entering the establishment who were greeted on a first name basis you could tell they had been been patronizing the place for years and even though it was my first time visiting this establishment, I was greeted with the same warmth and care. I never felt rushed if there is a negative that would be they don't take plastic but other than that if you're looking for a warm pleasant place to eat breakfast because that's all I had, I recommend the place. I'm definitely going back trying either the lunch or dinner menu. read more

Do not charge $3.75 for a tiny plain bagel and $4.75 for a tiny everything bagel (with butter and jelly), perhaps using the old inflation excuse, and have a dirty interior and exterior. Plus coffee refills are a dollar while at other big, busy diners I usually receive unending refills. The waitress was good, but she lost a dollar in tip due to the cost. I have been coming here for over 30 years. It's like getting Sunday morning breakfast whenever you want. They are a cash only restaurant but they have an ATM. They have the best grits I have ever had I get them with whatever I order whether it be the French toast, pancakes or hash browns. I have never felt slighted on the service there no matter how busy it is. They are always smiling and helping to satisfy your taste, you just tell them what you're in the mood for and they will deliver ! This is a staple in the neighborhood, I can't count how many times I have sat at the counter and ate breakfast while meeting new neighbors who are just having a meal also. Always hearing lots of good things but never had the chance to go in, I decided after my haircut appointment to stop in on a Saturday and try the food. I ordered pancakes, pork sausage and eggs. The food did not disappoint. The people/staff were inviting and the atmosphere was fairly lively. For a small place it was decently packed. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!! I will admit I am particularly biased to this diner, this was my local greasy spoon. I grew up in a house right around the corner from them before kids. I mean coming here for a breakfast sandwich since HS. I mean they know my whole families order and always ask for my kids. The sweetest owners ever!!! This is the breakfast spot on merrick blvd a staple in the area. This part of merrick is not as bustling as it is going towards laurelton but this diner is. Their speciality is breakfast and they make it just the way you like it. Fish and grits, eggs, homefries, toast, sausage, bacon, etc all taste like a nice home cooked meal. The diner isn't huge, about 6 tables seating 4/5 and counter space but if you want to sit my Queens people are very considerate, usually people eat and get on with their day. Food is good. My kids really enjoyed the blueberry pancakes. They also have non-pork meat options for breakfast meats. That's a plus for our family of 5 who don't eat pork. The service was friendly too. The place is small. It looks and feels like you would expect a small neighborhood diner in Queens to look. The reason why I can't give it more stars is the price mirrored an bigger diner you'd find in the city. Everything was a la carte. Portions were good sizes, if they need to add "meals" to the menu.
