Yelpers did not disappoint! Had to spend the night by JKF after a flight cancellation back home to Cali and needed to find a breakfast joint for the fam. This was perfect! Service was great and the food was on point. I had the BEC and it was on of the best! Forget the chains...hit this place up!

Back in high school, I'd come here once in a while for a quick bite--mainly as an excuse to get out of Rockaway. These days, besides the coffee, I mostly get the Crossbay burger with fries. I also gave the chicken and waffles a try once, and it was okay, but not something I'd come back for specifically. The diner itself is pretty average overall. The food is nothing special, and it's not really a place I'd go out of my way for. That said, I do like the atmosphere--it has that classic, laid-back diner feel, especially late at night, which is probably the best part about it. I just wish the pricing felt a little more reasonable--around $10-$20 per meal would make a lot more sense for what you're getting. One thing that really stands out (not in a good way) is the payment situation. If you're planning to eat here, only pay with cash at all costs. The service fees when using a card are higher than expected and feel unnecessary, which definitely takes away from the experience. Overall, it's okay for a quick stop, especially for coffee and a burger late at night, but between the average food, pricing, and extra fees, there are better options out there.

The first encounter happened awhile ago. I told the waiter that I didn't want lumps in my grits at the time of ordering. He came back and I told him about the lump in the grits. He says there's only one and walked off. The problem with lumps is, I don't eat grits with lumps and I'm not going to pay for lumps going out to eat. Today 11/18 I ordered an egg white veggie omelette with turkey bacon. It was not clear to me that the bacon would be cut up inside the omelette. While I'm trying to ask about the bacon he walks off and then comes back. Takes an ink pin and points to the bacon less than inches away from the egg. I understand that the chef has to use their hands dealing with the food but for the waiter to bring the food and use a foreign object let alone his finger over my freaking food is totally unacceptable and won't be tolerated. I WAS LIVID and for him failing to comprehend that his actions weren't normal, is outrageous. He stood there trying to play it off by saying he did nothing wrong and he just pointed at the food trying to hid the ink pen and failing to take accountability provoking the situation. All he had to say was that it was cut up inside of the omelette. It seems like the last three times I came, I was being placed in this guys section. They know me in this restaurant and they failed to read the room. I've previously expressed my concerns. It's not a good morning, it's hard but I'll try to... inspire more, yelp more!

A pretty solid Diner and a satisfactory trip to the way there. It's definitely a popular joint,…read moredespite the pretty massive size of the spot, there were a lot of people there on a Tuesday morning. Despite the traffic, service time didn't take a hit from it. The waitress kindly took my order and I got all of my food within 10 minutes. I had the Fried Mozzarella for a starter, Chicken Caesar Honey Wrap with waffle fries for the entree and Iced Tea because I figured dessert would be too much for both my appetite and wallet. The Fried Mozzarella pieces had a type of pull that you would expect and one I haven't seen in awhile. It was delightful in taste and texture. The Ceasar Wrap and Waffle Fries were very filling. It was very good but it felt like I over ordered on food again so I finished as much as I could. I've had a pretty good meal at a fair enough price. The place has a lot to offer so you'll find something there.

We've been there several times, and while not everything is amazing, the food is generally good and comforting. The star of the menu for me is the avocado toast - that's where they really get it right. The avocado toast is consistently fresh, well seasoned, and perfectly done every time. The pancakes are also very good: fluffy, tasty, and great for a weekend breakfast or brunch. One small thing that would make the experience even better is hot syrup. Warm syrup with those pancakes would take them to the next level. Service can be hit or miss depending on the day. On a previous visit, we had a server who dropped off the food and then basically disappeared until it was time for the check, which was disappointing. On our most recent visit, though, our server was the complete opposite: very attentive, friendly, and professional. It really made a difference in how much we enjoyed the meal. When we arrived this time, there was a line, but since there were only two of us and a table had just opened up, we were seated right away. That was a nice surprise and helped start the visit on a good note. All in all, Floral Park Diner is a nice local place, especially for breakfast or brunch. The food is good diner fare, some dishes shine more than others, and when the service is "on," it's a very pleasant experience. I'd recommend it if you're in the area and want a relaxed, neighborhood spot with great avocado toast and solid breakfast options. Quick summary: Excellent avocado toast - my favorite item Good pancakes (would love hot syrup) Service can be inconsistent Friendly, attentive service on our latest visit Convenient local spot for breakfast or brunch
