This pass Saturday, June 27, we had a simple meal. When trying to pay, they couldn't access the Gift card. They, in the past, couldn't access a debit payment. Both would've been considered "cash" payments. Having a double price for each item, cash, credit card, seems like a rip-off to me. Simply give me a final bill with two options: pay by cash price or pay by credit card price. It seems to me that charging each item individually may seem like over pricing, the rip off. I remembered going to Cross Bay diner with my ex one time and decided it was time to make another visit. There's just something nostalgic about eating at a diner that warms my heart. I actually went 2 weeks ago with my family and had a wonderful experience and decided to have a mother/daughter day a few days ago. Our favorite waitress, Indira was there. I hope I spelled her name right. First, they have ample parking and the dining area is spacious. We ordered pancakes, French toast and of course all the things that go with a hearty breakfast...eggs, sausage and a side of home fries. Let me just say, this is the only restaurant that cooks my eggs just the way I like it so that's definitely a plus. I think this is going to become my favorite and go to diner from now on. So my daughter and I came here to have lunch we both ordered grilled cheese sandwiches with fresh tomato, coleslaw, french fries, coffee, Coke, and ice tea. I ordered a chocolate mousse (she told me it was good) and he ordered a slice of apple pie. The chocolate mousse was divine. I will say that it's the best I've ever had in my life. I may live in Long Island but I'll be going back as often as I can for it. Without seeing what was available, I probably would've asked for a slice of strawberry shortcake. I'm very grateful for the recommendation! The diner was very clean. I didn't see anyone picking at their skin, nose, or playing with their or each other's hair. People, pay attention to those who are handling your food! A lot can happen. As you all know, I judge a place by their cleanliness as well. The restroom was very clean. Since we were there around 10PM, I can't comment on the parking and the noise level of the diner for other times. There were plenty of parking in their lot but I'm sure you can find street parking if it's full. The diner was fairly quiet compared to most. The servers are typically pleasant and attentive and I always love the painted decor on the windows. My favorite thing on the menu is the chipotle chicken Panini with buffalo fries. Unfortunately the last few times I'd gotten the buffalo fries, they hadn't put nearly enough buffalo sauce to be able to even taste the spice.
