I usually only stop here for a cup of coffee late at night, and even that is mostly out of convenience. Back in high school, I'd come here once in a while for a quick bite--mainly as an excuse to get out of Rockaway. These days, besides the coffee, I mostly get the Crossbay burger with fries. I also gave the chicken and waffles a try once, and it was okay, but not something I'd come back for specifically. The diner itself is pretty average overall. The food is nothing special, and it's not really a place I'd go out of my way for. That said, I do like the atmosphere--it has that classic, laid-back diner feel, especially late at night, which is probably the best part about it. I just wish the pricing felt a little more reasonable--around $10-$20 per meal would make a lot more sense for what you're getting. One thing that really stands out (not in a good way) is the payment situation. If you're planning to eat here, only pay with cash at all costs. The service fees when using a card are higher than expected and feel unnecessary, which definitely takes away from the experience. I've realized that a lot of diners that I used to go to in Brooklyn have closed and that's unfortunate. I remembered going to Cross Bay diner with my ex one time and decided it was time to make another visit. There's just something nostalgic about eating at a diner that warms my heart. I actually went 2 weeks ago with my family and had a wonderful experience and decided to have a mother/daughter day a few days ago. Our favorite waitress, Indira was there. I hope I spelled her name right. First, they have ample parking and the dining area is spacious. We ordered pancakes, French toast and of course all the things that go with a hearty breakfast...eggs, sausage and a side of home fries. Let me just say, this is the only restaurant that cooks my eggs just the way I like it so that's definitely a plus. I think this is going to become my favorite and go to diner from now on. I usually order through Uber eats, but this time, we went in person for breakfast. My husband ordered their silver dollar pancakes, which is his absolute favorite until he had a bit of my pancake tacos. It's a pancake as the shell, chicharron (pork) with scrambled eggs and cheese on top, you have the option of having it with the Chipotle sauce or syrup, I picked the Chipotle sauce, which I didn't regret at all. She told us not everything is on the menu so that was really kind of her to go out of her way to show us what they had. This diner has a baker who does all the baking in-house. I ordered a chocolate mousse (she told me it was good) and he ordered a slice of apple pie. The chocolate mousse was divine. I will say that it's the best I've ever had in my life. I may live in Long Island but I'll be going back as often as I can for it. Without seeing what was available, I probably would've asked for a slice of strawberry shortcake. I'm very grateful for the recommendation! The diner was very clean. I didn't see anyone picking at their skin, nose, or playing with their or each other's hair. People, pay attention to those who are handling your food! A lot can happen. As you all know, I judge a place by their cleanliness as well. The restroom was very clean. Since we were there around 10PM, I can't comment on the parking and the noise level of the diner for other times. There were plenty of parking in their lot but I'm sure you can find street parking if it's full. The diner was fairly quiet compared to most. Too expensive, food is wack, and they charge extra for everything on the menu if you aren't paying cash, even debit cards are being charged for credit card fees which was illegal in NY State up until recently. I used to pay $40 tops for breakfast for 2 people only up until about less than a year ago. Now it's $60 for 2 people to have breakfast. However, I was disappointed to witness the general manager or owner, a bald white man yelling and using profanity toward some staff members in the kitchen.
