Food left for doggie bag for lovely bite later

Food was very fresh and tasty, large serving. The photo is of the food leftover we took home. Took one star off as the shrimp was a bit overcooked but if not for that it would be perfect score.

Pretty good food! I ordered the platter for 2 which was a huge portion! It was like $50 which is what we would've spent if we had ordered our own gyros and fries. My husband and I inhaled the food. I really liked the souvlaki salad. The spicy feta had chunks of feta in it, I've never had the spicy feta dip with those chunks of feta in it. I prefer when it's blended in. I enjoyed the Greek fries. We saved a platter of gyro for leftovers. The chicken gyro was a little salty but I'd order from here again. I'd like to try some of the other dishes.

Welcome to Howard Beach!! Ambiance is wonderful, extremely clean. Even bathrooms spotless. Hopefully they will keep it this way. I do not think they need advertising, place is very busy already. Keep the dishes quality business will grow itself!!! The items i ordered needs some touches!! 1- Spanakopita is extremely salty!!! I understand they put feta cheese, do not add extra salt to spinach. Not everyone can consume that much salt. Feta cheese is salty already, that will balance the flavor. 2- Greek salad, change the lettuce. It is too harsh. Its been 6 hours already, did not digested yet. Gyros was delicious, size is small. Look every restaurant has its own menu. Compare to Gyro Grill on Woodhaven, their gyros is better. Ambiance Souvlaki spot is better, but food comparison will win along the way. Why there is no octopus? I have to have octopus!! Will cone again no doubt!!

The lamb gyro was incredible! So happy to have found a new greek restaurant so close to home. The service was fast & friendly & the decor is so beautiful!

This place is so cute. The paintings and music were like being on vacation. My waitress was Christina, she was very helpful when I had questions about the menu. This place is a must try. Their lentil soup and souvlaki spot bowl were so delicious. They'll be seeing me again.

    Chicken platter with spicy fries

First of this place is expensive and the food portions make no logical sense. Spent 42$ for food just for myself, which consisted of a chicken platter and 2 orders of pork souvlaki. When someone says a platter I think one dish with a protein, salad and a starch. I got 5 take away dishes with everything separated. It's definitely a take home and eat meal cause it's just a lot. Pita bread was nothing special. If I was craving Greek and this was my only option maybe I'll try something else here but for the price I can't find value in it. The food tasted descent but it's nothing to die for. Standard Greek food, on the plus side it was fresh, chicken wasn't dry and pork wasn't over cooked. A standard platter at another place like king souvlaki is like 15-16$ compared to 22$. A protein on a stick is like 4-5$ not 8$. That's just my opinion. Place was clean and staff was friendly. You also get a discount paying with cash otherwise everything is like 30-75 cents more

I was exuberant for the occasion of goodness to patronize, at long last. What gives you hope. There is an outdoor seating patio that occupies the entire sidewalk and half the street. The weather was gloomy cloudy, but not raining which enable my party of two to dine outdoors. Our table was uneven wobbling and shaking minimal the entire meal which reminisce "Lisa from Temecula" sketch from "Saturday Night Live," but not as violently aggressive shaking. Customer service is average attentive. Oddly, our appetizers arrived first and my wine did not. We had to request my wine which should be distributed first without request or reminder, thus the four stars. This restaurant was not entirely busy nor crowded for a Friday early afternoon. Nick's Bistro is a small cafe with a modern aesthetic appeal. I enjoy and prefer to be well-cultured expose to all international cuisines without judgment and an open mind for appreciation and global awareness. I am not knowledgeable with Greek cuisine, but I do know that Astoria is the locale for the go-to restaurants. I enter with a empty stomach. I exited fulfilled. Business cards and candy were available for grabs. Nick's Bistro is easily accessible via MTA NYC Transit buses Q53 SBS/ Q52 SBS and then Q54. Dramatic irony: this business name is also the name of my former love - not the same Nick, certainly not the same man. My foodie synopsis: Lamb gyro sandwich, $12.00 The meat was soft, but fresh and Tzatziki sauce was heavy. I do not consume lamb often, but once in a blue moon I would not exclude lamb to consume. The pita bread was the highlight which was fresh, soft and cooked with a good consistency without burning or harden. The gyro contain very pauacity minimal vegetables of lettuce, half cherry tomato and red onion. I always prefer red onion. I prefer regular tomato. This sandwich ate my fill to sustain hunger pangs the entire afternoon. Gyro sandwich is always my default Greek entrée of choice. Oddly, this entrée is price higher than listed on their website for $9.00. I do not believe their website is updated for price. Caesar salad, small $11.25 It was fresh and delightful filled with Parmesan shaved cheese. This portion is actually medium size. The croutons are thankfully not hard, but I never like croutons at all. I am always enamored with the lettuce. Ruffino, Chianti, 2019 red wine $12.00 This wine is one of my favorite reds, but it is difficult to find at most restaurants or cafés not widely offered. It was a joyous delight. It is exactly as is dry, very medium-bodied smooth finish Italian red wine from Tuscany, Italy, crafted from indigenous Sangiovese grape. It highlight bright cherry flavors and surely tasted. I was floating in very high spirits. Chicken rice soup, pint $6.95 Served luke warm but not piping hot with steam visibly emitted. It was also served with Oyster crackers. It was enjoyable and warm the heart. Greek Omelet, over easy egg whites $16.50 It was served with Greek feta cheese with vegetables yellow zucchini and pita chips. I highly despise Greek feta cheese and the same for Greek yogurt because both are extremely heavy, thick and too rich. I do not see any tomatoes. This entrée did appeared well prepared and well cooked but no runny yoke. My neighbor thoroughly enjoyed this entrée. Every time I think of omelet it bring flashbacks from past long-haul international flights major airlines of standard airplane food popularity for in-flight breakfast, often served with potatoes, sausage, or roasted vegetables. Nostalgia brew. Omelet? Flight attendant, I'll take the Continental with pastries, toast and fresh fruit please. Then followed by Bedtime Care Bear make me fall asleep again.

We ordered a few different appetizers, and then for our entrées we each ordered grilled chicken and salads, along with a few drinks. However, she brought everything out at the same time instead of pacing the meal properly. When I asked for a little bit of tzatziki sauce, the woman told me no and said it would cost $3. The issue was not even the charge it was the way she spoke to us. I explained that we had not received any sauce and that I only wanted a tiny bit for my bread. If she had been polite about it, I honestly would have just paid for the whole plate even though I only needed a small amount. What I found strange is that I have been to many Mediterranean and seafood restaurants, and I have never had an issue being given a small side of tzatziki sauce. After that interaction, she never came back to our table. We even wanted another round of drinks, and she did not ask if we wanted dessert or check on us again at all. We watched every other table being served and checked on while we were completely ignored. We are a very nice couple and never cause problems, which made the experience feel even more upsetting and uncomfortable. Overall, I was very bothered and disappointed by the service we received.
