    Ham, not prosciutto.

I ordered penne a la vodka with prosciutto. Yet, the dish tasted bland. I realized that, instead of using prosciutto, they used some awful ham instead. If you don't have actual prosciutto, simply say that. You don't give customers a lower quality meat in the hopes they don't notice. It's dishonest.

Loved Matteo's! We brought my mom for her birthday and it was a really nice celebratory dinner. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food. You can tell it's fresh made Italian food. We started with the Matteo's salad which is basically like an Italian chef salad - delish. I got the salmon which came in these delicious medallions on top of a buttery wine sauce. Soo good even though I was also considering getting the veal chop which looked amazing (will have to save for next time). The ambience was a bit crowded and loud the night we went (Friday night) but they managed the house well. One of the waiters stopped me and then they sang happy birthday for my mom (they called her "Miss America" which was hilarious.) Their brownie a la mode was a great way to end the meal with something sweet. Would recommend Matteo's as a yummy family style Italian dinner.

Favorite spot jumping off the plane from JFK. This gem gives all the home cooked Italian feels. Huge portions and delicious dishes. Staff was exceptional and super attentive.

We came here for late lunch while in town and I enjoyed my food here. By the time we arrived, lunch crowds were gone and inside was pretty quiet. We were going to share some appetizers but our server forgot to put an order. We reminded him after our main dish came and he admitted he made a mistake and brought the appetizers (baked clams) on the house. I just thought that was nice gesture to do so. I had today's special. Cod with asparagus. Great flavor, right portion size. Our group wanted to have some desserts but couldn't decide what they wanted to eat, so they asked for assorted dessert. Although I didn't eat any, their favorite was gelato. If I wasn't trying to lose weight, I would definitely skipped appetizers and pasta to have room for dessert. They looked really yummy. I think we were there for about two hours. From appetizer, pasta, main, dessert and coffee... it's a nice place to come for dinner.

Visited today for the first time for my daughter and friend's graduation dinner . It's known as a family style restaurant however we all wanted our own dishes . We did spilt family style apps consisting of mozzarella and tomato and mozzarella sticks and stuffed artichokes as well as some zuppa di mussels . Entrees we had a variety of dishes such as chicken Marsala , penne ala vodka , pasta and broccoli rabe and some mixed seafood dishes . We all enjoyed the food and the service was excellent . The place seemed a little small but still was comfy and elegant . Juan was our server and he made us feel like family . It was a nice night to cap off a long but wonderful graduation day .

Friends and I came here for a get together. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, even discussed having an office holiday party here. Classic Italian restaurant with an upscale atmosphere. Linen table clothes and attentive staf. The pasta and sauces are housemade. The full service bar provides great cocktails (Old Fashioned). I had the house chopped salad with pasta dinner. The salad is huge for one and my companions are straight non-vegitarians so I ate my fill. My entree was the Spaghetti Alla Marechiara and it was spot on. We bypassed dessert simply because the pasta dish is so filling. It will be easy for us to come back.

From the moment we arrived, the team welcomed us warmly and honored our reservation with a fantastic table that made the evening feel even more special. The waiters were incredibly attentive, consistently checking in and offering a wonderful variety of meat and fish platter specials that were both flavorful and beautifully presented. The ambiance struck the perfect balance of elegance and comfort, creating a relaxing space to unwind and enjoy great conversation. What made the experience even more meaningful was that I brought my son along. Even as a picky eater, he was able to find his favorites and truly enjoy the meal, which speaks volumes about the restaurant's thoughtful menu and accommodating service. And we can't forget the desserts--the variety was absolutely delicious, and not a single crumb was left behind at the table. Overall, a memorable dining experience filled with great food, warm hospitality, and the perfect atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

We got the French onion soup and lobster bisque. I've had better French onion soup (yes, probably shouldn't order at an Italian spot but i couldn't resist). The lobster bisque was yummy but you could really taste the heavy cream. No chunks of lobster. We shared a large fried calamari with medium spice marinara sauce and a dozen baked clams. The calamari needed some salt, but was fried well. Baked clams were absolutely SO DELISH!!! Use up that complimentary bread basket for them. For mains, we shared the shrimp parm, linguini pasta with clams, and rigatoni. Shrimp parm and rigatoni were awesome. Great red sauce. My pasta with the clams was super bland. No olive oil, no garlic. Couldn't eat it and took it home for leftovers to remake a sauce for it. After that, tasted good. We shared the tartufo for dessert. Can't go wrong there. I would come back if you're looking for large portions for dinner and want some fresh seafood.

Unfortunately, the traffic was terrible going down Woodhaven Blvd to get to Cross Bay Blvd. There's metered parking - not sure if the valet parking was for Lenny's. Anyway, that put a damper on the evening already. We were a party of two so when I called for reservations, they said they don't take for just two people. Luckily we were seated right away when we arrived (around 6 on a Thursday). There were many menu options (Thursdays is Prime Rib night). We decided to start with baked clams and I chose a Captain's platter (broiled fish, scallops and shrimp) with angel hair pasta and marinara. My husband had a seafood fra diablo on linguine. The service was quick with drinks and bruschetta and bread & breadsticks. The clams also came super fast. They tasted good. Then we waited a while for our entrees. My scallops were perfect but the shrimps were overcooked. The fish was ok. The marinara was on the sweet side. Our server was Eugene and he was fine. The place wasn't as nice as I had hoped. Not sure we would go out specifically to eat there again. If I was in the neighborhood, maybe.

Living In HB for many years we always patronized this business back in the day and when Rag Time was still in business and at there best game as well; these businesses over the years got faded out with the times I blame it on the diversity shift that's going on in the area supply n demand that's my honest opinion because we see more and more of these Mom and Pop businesses either fading out and or finding it very hard to survive; Facts; rent, Food Cost; labor cost & insurance all have what to do with their survival... Times Have Changed however I'm glad that i stoped in this morning to patronize This business again; honestly speaking I would've stopped at my go to Brothers's ravioli but there was no parking and I didn't wanna double park and risk a ticket so I kept driving and then I remembered this place I knew that it was getting remodeled so I stopped in to have a look see... 1st; Parking NOT a Problem !! Happy !!! 2nd; Beautiful curb appeal, when I walked in the two ladies upfront greeted me and said good morning with a smile..... 3rd; Very Very Clean, The deli & butcher displays of all their meats & salads look very inviting it brought back good memories of when the original store was at its finest !! Well, congratulations to this new owner I understand that he worked for the old owner for years if I'm wrong I apologize Store looks amazing everything is well organized they have all the italian goodies as well as standard groceries.... Now let's get down to business I went in there to get a roast beef hero; I placed my order I watched the gentleman start to make my hero I'm watching because that's what I do ( I liked what I saw ) and then I told him to make me another one the same exact way take a look at the size of theses heors & amount of meat that's in it that & it's Boar-Head roast beef & monster cheese at $12 Bucks a hero !!! Super Fresh & Super Delicious; I will definitely be back to support this store again just based on my Hero's . Then I was gonna go to Bj's wholesale club to go buy London broil's they have a two pack for being that I was here at the meat market I checked out their London - Broil lookedlook fantastic Priced @ $7.99 a pound So I bought Two of them; they are currently marinating in the refrigerator in a very nice low sodium soy garlic ginger marinade which I will barbecue them later tonight !!! Can ya tell I was craving Red Meat Today !!! Lol I will update you on them later but rest assure I will definitely patronize the store again like I said I normally buy from this store they are Italian sausage; their chicken rings and parsley rings along with all their homemade chicken burgers which will always out of this world and they looked just as good as they did years ago..... Please keep in mind my five star review solely based on my fantastic and delicious heroes And they're beautiful London broils along with everything else that I described up above I will update this review going forward glad I stopped in again !!! Also an FYI; somebody posted that their prices are very expensive ?!?! I walked around the store for a good 20 minutes I checked a lot of prices on everything I found the store would be just as reasonable as any other store so don't believe everything you read !!! Thanks, Greg D & Family

The 12-in pizza was more than enough for two people and filled with all the ingredients listed. I like sauce on my pizza, so I asked for a little extra on the side and it was so good I could have sucked it down without the pizza, which was hot and delicious! The small spumoni was a half scoop each of strawberry, chocolate, and pistachio ice cream. Not the official spumoni roll that I expected. The place was very packed and kind of noisy. The one thing that was noticeably lacking was the service. While it was efficient and fast there was no cordiality, it was just perfunctuary (no smiles, no kind words, nothing). Despite this, we would definitely recommend the restaurant because the pizza was excellent. We also welcomed the 20% lunch discount on the food.
