Very nice place. Looks great from the outside, Christmas time with all the lighted wreaths. Nice size bar, there's seating in the dinning room or booths in the bar area which we sat and liked the cozy feel. Nice sized bar and very inviting drink specials. Food was very good. Food ordered was grilled Reuben, bangers and mashed, grilled chicken sandwich with avocado. ALL very good. Staff could be more personable and friendly. Cordial enough but didn't look happy or were not talkative. Definitely will come back and give three stars for this visit but hope the wait staff have a happier attitude next time. read more

I'll speak for all my Hawthorne friends when I say Celtic Corner is the best thing that ever happened to our town. The location is key and woke up our sleepy downtown. The decor is authentic Irish pub style. The staff is a perfect mix of friendly and professional. I have loved everything I've ordered; especially the Shepherds Pie and Irish Fries, plus the drinks are reasonable. The Happy Hour/dinner crowd is a blend of all ages, and then it starts getting younger by 10 PM-ish. Thank you to the staff/management/owners for this great investment in Hawthorne. Celtic Corner is a nice mix of traditional restaurant/bar food with an Irish twist. The staff is wonderful, though they've only been open for a short time they're always so welcoming. The bar is packed constantly, but I've never had to wait very long to place my order/get a drink. Celtic Corner is definitely becoming my go-to place. read more

The food was amazing. We had the wings - excellent! My husband ordered his burger "build your own" and I had the Rueben. The Rueben was superb! The best I've had anywhere! Terrible. I wish I could they did at least one thing right but I can't. I've been so mad at this place from the moment I left that it took me a whole month to review it. This place needs a Gordon Ramsey level reality check. First off, dirty silverware with food still crusted on it aside, the music was so loud it was literally rattling the speakers. Not metaphorically. It actually had rattling speakers. Our waitress was inattentive, she forgot drinks, she forgot my entree, she never checked in on us for refills, she forgot to collect our checks. Eventually I just got up and handed the hostess my check with my card and was like I can't do this anymore, please just let me play so I can leave. The food was average at best. My friend ordered a Caesar salad and soup. I don't know how it took 45 minutes to get delivered. And I don't have many standards but after you forget to place the order for my entree could you at least make it look presentable when you finally bring it out. I got the bangers and mash. Look at this thing, it looks like something cut of some monster fingers and threw it on a pile of crap with gravy. I feel bad giving it such a harsh review. That's not usually my style but come on, sometimes you only get one shot to set a decent enough impression to get people to come back. If they had done something right then I'd probably give it a second chance but when your three strikes all happen in the same meal then I'm definitely out. read more

A group of eight of us went there for dinner. We had gotten there around the time that they switched from lunch to dinner and the staff was very nice about letting us order from either menu. It's more of a pub than restaurant, but it's still nice inside. We thought that the portion sizes were small for the price. Hopefully they change or add to the menu as they continue to become fully operational. I would definitely like to see an expanded menu which includes more Irish food. I don't consider burgers, meatball parmigiana and sliced steak as Irish food. The beef stew and shepherds pie were good. Will try again after the holidays to see if it's any different. read more

My wife wife and my self decided to go out and have dinner and drinks within walking distance from our house And decided to to try this new restaurant. When We arrived we were meet at the front door with very nice girls and that was the one thing that was good at this place!!! We were escorted to the back that looked like a cafeteria seating, we decided to sit at the bar and look at some football games. When at the bar we waited for somebody to come by and great us but the only thing that came by was a cold breeze. The reason I am writing this is because while we were waiting for somebody to acknowledge that we were there, I think the owner or the manager was talking to customer next to us and didn't ever ask if we needed anything. We look at each other and said that was rude.. so we said we will wait another 10 mins. No one came by Not the owner or bartender look at us. I know he saw us I am thinking since we were not Irish or we don't look like we are Irish they didn't want to serve us. If you live in Hawthorne I would not to go to this place. As a 30 yr resident of Hawthorne and supporting everything Hawthorne I would not recommend anybody from Hawthorne to go to this place. read more

All I can say is, if you had a bad experience before at Celtic, give it another try. I decided to give Celtic Corner another try this past weekend when my friends wanted to go and after last years disaster and I am so glad that I did. I did not eat or drink one bad thing here. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, pretzels as apps and I ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was all fantastic. Also the fall drink menu is to die for and the Irish soda bread pudding I could eat literally every day of my life. They totally upped their staff from last year and the menu is so much better than it was. This time around I'm telling everyone that I know to go to Celtic it actually might be some of the best food in town no joke. read more

Upon arrival the restaurant it was busy, with welcoming staff. Bar area is operating well under pressure! Took a long time to get a table(over an hour) no big deal we had drinks while waiting. The service at the tables was slow, no water offered and the food just wasn't worth the wait. I was very excited to see a fun looking place to open. I hope they can get the kitchen staff under control. We got our dinner about an hour after we sat down followed by our appetizer. The Shepard's pie was very good, my salad was okay, dressing was very strong. The "loaded" Irish fries are a disaster. The beans are run of the mill and not appetizing, the cheese was fine, and the rest of the toppings did not come as they were supposed to. If you can't get fries right there's a problem. I want to love this place and plan to try just appetizers on my next visit. Organization is key for a good Buisness. Also no service for ATT people and WiFi doesn't work. This poses problems for many types of people. Inability to meet up with people, call Uber, or just notify someone about anything. read more

The service here is outstanding. Hostess' are nice, servers are attentive, as well as the bartenders. All the food i've had was also amazing. Out of all the things i've had, the chili-mac was probably the best. The other things I have tried were the sheppards pie (has a full lamb shank), steak quesadillas, and the beer and cheese pretzels. The portion sizes are generous for the chili-mac, the pretzels are enough for 2 people as a starter, and the quesadillas you could probably have as an entree and take some home for tomorrow. read more

Love this restaurant. This wonderful gem is new to Hawthorne. The atmosphere, service and the food is outstanding. The bar is a wonder to be seen. And the service and servers were warm and welcoming. We had the the onion soup, which was incredible; the Chile which was delicious. Our entrees were the salmon which was cooked perfectly with a light ginger sauce and the shepherds pie. We were floored at the size of the portions. The shepherds pie was a huge lamb shank, delicious and tender with mashed potatoes topping it. I recommend this wonderful restaurant highly. We went when they first opened and despite some minor glitches we were impressed. a great thin sliced steak sandwich and juicy burger. Went back this weekend and received RAW fish and chips. Steak sandwich was thick, dry and overcooked and served on burnt toast. fries on both were a soggy mess. Service didn't care and I think it was a manager who walked by twice and ignored our uneaten meals. Shouldn't a new place be hitting the mark by now, not going downhill? Will definitely give it another shot. The food was good and appreciate that portions were not oversized. Just about right. Fried Cod Sandwich was great, Irish Chili was great, Chicken Clubbie was great. Only disappointment was the Bleu Salad. Sounded incredible but underdressed and mainly lettuce. The real concern here was the service. Our server was great, however, getting the server was hard. When we entered, no one greeted us. We waited at the host stand while two servers passed by and said nothing. The bartender stared at us and said nothing. After waiting we approached him and asked if we could sit anywhere which he said we could. We sat and waited and waited. The bartender we spoke with looked at us several times, but never spoke. A second person came behind the bat and never spoke. Guests sitting at the bar received a welcome and menus and drinks. The bartenders never came out from the bar or even offered to find a server. One server walked to the booth next to us 4 times but never spoke to us. Another server walked by and went to host stand and then walked back into the kitchen. Finally, our server arrived and all went fairly well. Had to ask for refills on drinks multiple times as we were never offered but generally pleasant just not attentive. Asked for cider expecting Magner's or Aspalll. Angry Orchard? Really. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and I'm so glad that I finally did. I don't understand the three star rating? I came here for dinner on a Friday night with a coworker. Everything was great! The food, the service, I can't think of anything they could have done better. I had the Irish stew and my friend ordered the curry chicken. My dish was great, the beef was tender and not fatty, the vegetables were fresh and it was served over a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes. All delicious! My friend loved her dish as well. Even though the place was packed with almost every table full, the service was excellent! Out waitress checked on us regularly and offered great suggestions. In addition, two gentlemen, who we assumed were the owner and/or manager checked in on us as well. Even though we were full, we decided to share a dessert. The waitress suggested their homemade ice cream cake and that was delicious as well! I am so glad that I did not let the lower star rating keep me from trying this place! I will be back! read more

My husband threw me a surprise 25th Anniversary Party at Celtic Corner. The staff was so incredibly attentive, friendly, polite, and accommodating. The food was fresh and delicious and plentiful. The chef even came out to check on us and Reagan (our hostess) was a level of professional that is very rare and greatly appreciated. Our guest count was about 50 and we got perfectly into the private party room. Thank you so much for making this surprise that much more special! read more

First time here, the place is nicely setup, They have a great sports bar in one room and the dining area was separated just enough to allow a reasonable conservation. The is staff friendly and efficient. I had the Buffalo Style wings and Steak sandwich. My wife had the bronzini special. Everything was prepared and cooked perfectly. I originally tried Celtic Corner the first week it opened and ended up walking out without eating and wasn't sure I would give it a second chance because I felt they fell short on very basic things that should have nothing to do with opening hiccups. I was really excited to have something new and different so I kept waiting and watching the reviews. This past Sunday we decided to give it a try and just start with a few drinks and appetizers at the bar rather than committing to a full sit down meal. I'm so glad we gave it a second chance because it was a fantastic experience. We walked in and there was live entertainment playing genre appropriate music at the right level so it didn't over power a conversation. Next we grabbed 2 spots at the bar (lucky because it was busy) thanks to 2 really nice people who offered to move down so we could get our seats together. (Love how Friendly Hawthorne people are) what impressed me the most was the warm welcome from our bartender our who introduced himself and shook our hands. Now we haven't even gotten to the food and drinks and I'm sold. I know this place is known for beer which makes my husband happy but I'm a wine girl so again i was really happy they also had one of my favorites too. The pours were very generous which is much appreciated. Next we decided to try the wings and mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce and both were really good. The sauce for the mussels was so good I was happy they included toasted garlic bread to soak up all that yummyness. I'm really glad we gave this place a second chance and now i can't wait to return. A little better than good. I went with a group of friends for a Birthday on a rainy Tuesday night at around 830pm. It just so happens that Tuesday night is their Trivia night, so we were a little hesitant on how to the night would end up seeing we were there for a Birthday and not trivia. It was relatively empty. We had the entire dinning room to ourselves while the majority of customers were near the bar. We started with drinks and a few apps. Wings: Great tai chili sauce with a nice crunch (we asked for extra crispy) Fried Calamari: Surprisingly very good, not chewy, and very light batter. Pretzel and Beer Cheese Dip. Amazing. For my entree I ended up getting the "sliced steak sandwich" on ciabatta bread with onions, mushrooms, cheese and gravy. Personally I would have loved to have the bread super crunchy, but it was a little soft but still didn't break the sandwich. Taste was great. Dessert: Irish soda bread pudding with ice cream. Absolutely phenomenal. Served in a hot pan skillet this was by far the best I have ever had, hands down. As a whole, I was super surprised and extremely satisfied at the end of the evening. Food was great, service was great. I will be going back very soon. You won't be disappointed. read more
