One of our best meals in Spain, I love the attention to detail with the design and casual ambiance. You can't beat their house wine at 16 euro a bottle! They win the prize for largest menu ever... you must try the tomatoes with ham, so much flavor and what they are known for! This restaurant lives up to its hype. Definitely a different experience than dining near the southern districts like Lavalpies. The quality of the food and exceptional service are what you'd expect if you are someone who actually enjoys taste and the dining experience. We ordered the razor clams with orange and they were delicious. A plate was about 8 euros and there were 8 or 9 razor clams which was plenty for 2 people. Then came the cod croquettes, perfectly deep fried and wasn't greasy at all. It was crispy with oozing soft and juicy cod. There were aboutt 8 croquettes and the dish was 8 euros. We also each had the house wine at 2.5 euros a piece and it was superb. Bread and olives were also delicious and helped to fill our bellies while we got to enjoy the taste of the dishes being served Lastly, came the baby veal. I thought it would be ok but it turned out extremely delicious and that was about 10 euros all the dishes came with this nice crispy potato waffle which was thin, non greasy and crunchy the way you'd expect it. 3 dishes, 3 glasses of wine, olives and bread, filled bellies with delicious food. Total bill was 37 euros which was excellent value for the food and experience. Also, you can upgrade any plate family size (not huge but definitely enough to share among 4-5 people) for 3.5€more. We kept doing this with the "arroz campero" I would say our bill was pretty average to any other restaurant in town but the food here was pretty good! We liked all their wines but I personally loved their Rosé from Navarra. Their staff was very friendly too. Try it if you're in town! We had the wings some hams and the 4 tomatoes platter which includes 4 different types of olive oils to dip in. These tomatoes were amazing. Never have I been able to eat so many tomatoes and enjoy it so much. Food and services was excellent. Pricing is fair. The only downside is that it is quite small and tight inside so being at capacity or being booked on reservations will leave any walk ins having to wait. We place an order of cava & another dish each: arroz con "eco" for me (rice with artichoke, peppers, & onions), arroz trifásico (rice with black pudding, chickpeas & Norwegian cod) for my boyfriend. We left Celso y Manolo with heavy disappointment. I am an American Asian and I noticed openly that they offered Caucasian Americans a table first before us. My husband found this lunch restaurant for us, and I was impressed by the food selection. We started with two different tomato dishes - which some might have thought was too much, but the tomatoes in Madrid (or maybe just at Celso y Manolo) were so juicy and sweet. We had the tomato with avocado, mango, papaya, coriander and olive oil as well as the Nine ingredients salad: fresh cheese, tomato tartar, green asparagus, avocado, mango, dried grapes, pinenuts and honey vinaigrette. The presentation of the Tomato/Mango dish was beautifully constructed. Both dishes were really good, and my husband (who doesn't like tomatoes) also agreed. We were the first customers to be there but it quickly filled up at 8pm. Raquel, our server, was very helpful and kind, as it was our first time here. She was later on skillfully handling serving others as well. She was as always making sure we were good. We ordered the deep fried Calamari, one of the best I have tasted. The chuleton tomato was excellent. Dip your bread in the sauce! We also ordered the seared tuna which was another excellent choice. We wanted to eat more but we didn't want to spoil the experience so we decided to just come back another day. Just ask them for wine recommendations.
