Loved this tapas place! Our favorite was the ahi tuna and the burrata and tomatoes with pesto. The dishes had great flavor! We also got the croquets and papas bravas which were good. They also greeted us with bone broth when we entered and it was delicious. The plates were well sized for the price point but thought it was a perfect date night spot. Only lost a star because they didn't have many dishes that didn't have pork as my husband doesn't eat pork or beef so we were quite limited on what we could order but that may be a spanish thing.

Yum. Tasty food. Great service. It's a bit out of the way, not in city center, but worth a visit for Iberian ham. Menu is in English but you need to scan the QR code and access it online. They have free Wifi. I didn't get to experience the inside brick cellar as the weather was lovely during the afternoon. We sat outside with many visits from some bees, but it was under the shade. I highly recommend starting the meal with tinto de verano €4.60! This is better (sweeter) than the sangria. The tomate salad €11.9 that we ordered came out next, but it took a while before the next dish was served. I got the carne dish €54.5 to share. They brought out the raw cut to show us before they cooked it. We asked for medium rare but when it came out, most of it was red and fleshy. Perhaps a normal medium would have been better. The jamon plate €27.5 was good. It's apparently from acorn-fed pigs. Since we were in Madrid, we decided to also try their special iberico dish €22.9, which was also acorn-fed. It was three small pieces served with potatoes, but it was so tasty. When I got the bill, I saw they charged us €1.75 per person for pan (bread). I think they were distracting us with the olive oil presentation, but oh well, it tasted good.

My boyfriend and I came here to eat for the first time and we had a great experience. The food was amazing and our waiter, Luis, was incredible! He gave us great recommendations, and when I asked to try something I'd never had before, he even brought me a taste first just in case I didn't like it, plus a backup dish on the side. Overall, we had an amazing time and we'll definitely be coming back the next time we're in Madrid.

I arrived solo about 9:30 which is the heart of dinner time. They were very accommodating even though I didn't have a reservation . Everyone seemed to speak English well. Started with the goat cheese chupa chups. Delightful. Then for the main Beef Entrecote Grilled with Natural Charcoal. Just amazing. Topped it off with the Tempered White Chocolate Brownie and Vanilla Ice Cream. Also enjoyed a sangria, which was a plentiful portion. The server Fernando super nice and patient even though I was a table of one. I would go there every night if I could

Gem near everything but off the main tourist routes. Reservation was necessary as it was fully packed. The table outside provided a wonderful ambiance with a bit more air to breathe. The staff was very friendly and somehow we were able to communicate. The food was outstanding. PS: Nice to have a QR code not only for the menus but also the WiFi)

Truly an excellent establishment, in this restaurant right across from the palace expect to be treated like family, and the prices are excellent. We had steak that was delicious, octopus that was tender and cheap beer and wine. Next time I am in Madrid I will go back

I love everything about this place! I was visiting Madrid and decided to come here since a friend recommended it. The first night I went, my friend and I ordered the Cod Loin in Tempura, Foie Gras Ravioli in Chicken Broth and Cream, the Tapas La Mi Venta Combination Plate. We wanted to order the paella, but since we got there around 10pm, we didn't want to wait 35 min for it to be made. The Sangria was the best I've ever tasted!! It was sparkly, not too strong, or too sweet. It was absolutely refreshing. The food came one by one and wow, amazing. Our server, George, was telling us recommendations on where to go out for nightlife, and it was a pleasure chatting with him! We even got free little alcoholic shots after our meal. We loved this place so much that we decided to go a second time and finally try the paella. Best paella of my life! They presented it to us and then plated it for our table. What an experience! The calamari was delicious as well, not too oily or salty and came with delicious sauce. Another free shot right after!!

Incredibly friendly, attentive and informative service. We ate downstairs in "cave" which provided unique environment. The food was fresh and well-prepared. The wine was world class. Including dessert, the bill was just under €100.

Amazing food, drinks, and customer service. We are English speaking as well. The best experience in Madrid for a little late lunch.

We are currently traveling in Spain and dined here last night with my husband and our twenty-something (year old) children. We were greeted so warmly by the staff while smelling delicious food cooking in the back. We knew we were off to a great meal. The ambiance is so refreshing from the mass produced buildings we are used to frequenting. It genuinely felt like an old wine cellar and you truly felt like you were dining in an historic building. Rene, our main server along with Aron, (and one other gentleman whose name I unfortunately do not know) were so attentive, kind, professional, and welcoming to our family. The food was absolutely the main star of this dining experience. We ordered the burrata with pesto and tomatoes, which was one the best and freshest we've ever had along with the acorn-fed jamon de bellota which melted in your mouth with a smoothness and flavoring we had not yet been lucky enough to taste before. Even the bread and olive oil was delicious and memorable. My family loved the combo of classics with the little chorizos. I couldn't get enough of the simple tomatoes served in olive oil. They tasted freshly-picked and the rock salt was perfectly balanced. The best was the grilled octopus that was one of the most well seasoned bites of seafood we can ever remember. Everyone remarked about how moist and flavored it was and you could really taste the char of the grill. Even the bottle of water was perfectly chilled and very nice. Overall, one of the best (if not best) dining experiences we have ever encountered on our travels. Much thanks to Rene and his patience with our questions and requests (can we have more olive oil?) with prompt and enthusiast answers and remedy. The service was just top-notch. Lastly, the mojito my son ordered will probably be the best one he'll ever have. Never had one that was so filled with so much freshly squeezed lime. Thank you, La Mi Venta, for such an incredible evening of dining and family. We love Madrid!!!

For the main course, we had the beef with chimichurri and butter, and OMG... it was phenomenal. Everything was cooked perfectly, and all the flavors complemented each other so well. To finish the night, we shared the chocolate dessert and the "Love Chueca" cocktail, which was incredible and the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. Alright, as I continue to try to catch up on all the review drafts I wrote while on vacation, at…read morethis point a whole 5 months ago... I know this one was exactly 5 months ago, because we touched down in Madrid on New Years Day, and this was the first place we ate (sounds like they've been here for aeons, so I doubt they've changed significantly since January.) My plan when we landed had been to just go down the list I'd made before we left of the best quick food places near our hotel, and eat at the first one that *was* open on New Years. I was worried there wouldn't be any and we'd be eating snacks from a convenience store, but nope! This place was indeed open. Open, and an absolute *madhouse*. I'm not sure if it was just because it was New Years, they were open, and much of the street wasn't, or if they're always this crazy - but it was a decent wait to order, to the point that it wasn't *entirely* clear whether we were even waiting correctly to order, since the line had kind of turned into a blob. Ordering and picking up our food was slightly nerve-wracking with how crowded it was, and there didn't really appear to be anywhere inside to sit, so we figured we'd sit outside at the tables... that we got immediately yelled at for sitting at, because it turns out all the tables right outside their entrance, actually belongs to their next door neighbor. So if I were ever back in Madrid, I *would* totally consider getting food here again, but I'd just probably plan on bringing it back to the hotel, vs what we ended up doing, finding the closest nearby flat non-private surface and eating it standing up in an alley. It definitely felt like a cool historic building inside, though, would've loved to dine in, if it hadn't been wall-to-wall packed, which it sounds like they might just always be. Food was great, though. We shared (this was plenty of food): An order of the cider-braised sausages - wonderful. Bonus, we learned from personal experience, you definitely want to get an order of these sausages, as not only are the sausages themselves delicious, the resulting au jus was also great for dipping the other items into.) An order of the ham and cheese croquettes - pretty tasty, though they did fall apart. Even tastier dipped in sausage juice, though then they *really* fell apart. Worth it though. Didn't look like you got a lot per order, but looks are deceiving - they were *rich*. An order of their famous mushrooms - I was a bit surprised, given the name literally means "the mushroom bar", that they only had a single mushroom dish, though given the sheer volume of that one item they clearly sell nightly, I can see why. Anyway, as a mushroom fan... they were certainly tasty mushrooms, perfectly cooked, but in my opinion, just a bit oversalted. Also had a glass of sangria for 2.50 euro - it is extremely good sangria, though the glass for 2.50 was pretty small. They also sell it for a better price by the larger container, but sadly, while I absolutely loved the European spirit of trusting people to be responsible after leaving with a to-go alcoholic beverage... they don't sell the *larger* sized sangria if you aren't dining in. Was too bad, as I absolutely would have loved twice as much of that sangria, but it clearly wasn't worth standing in a long ordering line a second time for it.

If you're looking for delicious mushrooms look no further! Beautiful old restaurant. Great service!read more

On one hand, it's the…read more*exact* sort of quietly-pretentious cocktail bar experience I absolutely love, where all the drinks have been carefully curated with a bunch of small-batch ingredients, most of them, in this case, made in house. Each drink we ordered had an absolutely precisely perfect, super-unique presentation, and you could tell they were all carefully designed. I especially loved, while they don't advertise being a distillery, several cocktails even use their own in-house spirits, which if you ask about it and you're ordering a bunch of cocktails, you can just try a tasting flight for free. That was just super cool - you can buy bottles of some of them, too. Bit pricey at ~40 euro for a half-bottle, but they also distill some seriously unusual stuff, including one, used in their now-my-gold-standard bloody mary, distilled from a variety of mixed vegetables, the first time I'd *ever* seen a spirit distilled entirely from vegetables. On the other hand, with the exception of that bloody mary, all the drinks we had, especially for the price, were just... good. I loved the attention to detail on all of them, I could tell a lot of intention and effort went into each one, and again, it's always cool when you're drinking something that was distilled specifically by and for the bar you're at. But I also feel like I remember, mostly, a lot more about the presentation of the drinks and how much work went into some of the ingredients, than what most of them actually tasted like. On the third hand... that bloody mary. Seriously probably the best bloody mary I've had, as you'd expect from a place that hand-crafts literally everything including the base spirit. Assuming they still have it and it wasn't only on a temporary/seasonal menu... I'd go back for more of those, if I were ever back in Madrid. (If it was on a temporary/seasonal menu... too bad for me. I'll be savoring the half-bottle of the spirit I absolutely brought home with me, anyway! Though I still won't be making their bloody mary, which also used their own mix of several fresh-made stocks, for maximum flavor while also being totally clear still. That was super cool, and again, absolutely delicious.) Would I put it in my own personal "best bars anywhere on the planet" list? Probably not - that's a... lot of competition. Is it the best cocktail bar in Madrid? Also in my opinion, no, if I could only recommend one craft cocktail bar in Madrid, it'd be Salmon Guru. But if someone just asked me for recommendations for Madrid cause I'd been there, I could recommend any number of places, and they liked fancy, not-cheap craft cocktails? This would also go on the list, if that hypothetical person had time for two, as we did. Definitely do make a reservation, though. When we got there right when they opened, we were the only ones there... but that definitely didn't remain true.

When I found out I was coming to Madrid I had to book a table. First things first, my suggestion is book way in advance. This place fills up fast. My friend and I waited too long and the only seating we could get was at 11:15 PM. No big deal though there's plenty of places you can get a light snack in the surrounding area while exploring the city. Walking in, the architecture immediately hits you. Low ceilings, gorgeous old brick, tight dining rooms, it really feels like you stepped back in time. The whole atmosphere is elevated without being stiff. Staff was super friendly and made the experience feel smooth from start to finish. There's also apprently a really nice wine cellar at the bottom I overheard other patrons bragging about. Food wise, I will keep it real, it was good, just not my favorite meal in Madrid. The sangria was solid, definitely one of my highlights. The croquettes were fire. Crispy, creamy, exactly what you want. My friend's seafood casserole was actually really good too, I lowkey wish I went that route. Now the misses. The sautéed vegetables with Iberian ham didn't do it for me. The veggies needed seasoning bad, and the ham leaned a little too salty, so together it just felt off. The suckling pig, the signature dish, was good, but I was not blown away. If I find myself returning here, I would explore other options. After dinner, there was a little show and they let you keep a souvenir menu, which was a nice touch and made the night feel more memorable. Overall I had a solid 3.5 star experience rounded up to 4. Sobrino de Botín is history, it is iconic, and it is worth saying you have been. Just do not expect it to be the best meal of your trip. Hit Botín, soak it in, then go explore the rest of Madrid's food scene, because that is where things really start to shine.

If you are vegan, coming here will only piss you off. In fact, a vegan in Madrid in general is ill-advised. The setting feels historic and rustic with exposed brick and stone that appears to be centuries old. They seem to make everything (both food and drink) behind that cramped bar which explains why most of their menu items are cold, pre-made, or easy to assemble from short lists of raw ingredients. This does not mean that anything is bad. It just means it is like producing charcuterie in a dorm room bar. A large number of items involve Iberico Ham and one of the barmen is constantly shaving off thin pieces for service. In fact the freebie snack they send out from the kitchen had some Iberico ham and Manchego cheese on it which was a really nice warm up of what to expect. Over the noonish lunch hour, I was the only tourist in the place surrounded by many locals that clearly know about this spot. I liked those odds for assuring me of a genuine authentic experience. It was an accurate predictor. I'm not the most experienced when it comes to true Spanish tapas but this seemed to be a very genuine depiction of what the locals look for in a rustic Iberico ham experience. And frankly, even if it wasn't I can't find anything to really complain about. It was a cool historic setting, there was ice-cold vermouth from a tap, and I spent an hour shoving local Morcilla (blood sausage) and Iberico pig parts into my pie hole for the better part of an hour. It was a great experience any way you choose to look at it.

A bit of a splurge but worth it when in Madrid and in the mood for a steak. Located a few blocks…read moreeast of Puerta del Sol, it's nice because there are no hordes of people you have to navigate to find it. This is a place for people who appreciate their food and the experience, not for the tourist masses that are looking to get fed quick and cheap. It is an interesting set up as they have dining rooms on both sides of the street. I was in the one on the east side of the street and taken downstairs into the basement which has the looks of a refurbished ancient cellar. I had a 2 top in the corner to myself with a great view of the room so I could appreciate what everyone else was eating. I had a very civilized time. Frenetic Tapas this is not. There are white linen tablecloths present, a small container of housemade chimichurri, menus on line, great wi-fi service, a full bar and wine list, and menus that are bovine centric. I had an Argentine Negroni (the Argentine nod is due to a splash of Fernet Branca giving it a slight minty taste on the back end) and a glass of affordable, high ranking Tempranillo. These were perfect with the olive and bread starters with EVOO/Spanish vinegar on the table to mix to taste and also served with compounded butter. I was there to eat and the Mollejas (veal sweetbreads) are a must in my opinion. They are listed as a house specialty and come on a charcoal heated sizzle plate served with a side of broad flaked sea salt to finish to taste. Crispy edges and creamy textures throughout with a hit of grilled lemon and they were simply sublime. I also took down an Entraña (skirt steak) that seemed larger than its described 300 grams. Also served on a sizzle plate it was perfectly cooked by some expert grill guys upstairs. To ensure that I ate something with color, I had a salad on the side that I dressed to taste with the EVOO/Spanish vinegar on the table. The service here is friendly, professional, and not overbearing. My meal was about $85 USD which is pricey by typical Madrid eating standards but it was worth it considering the quality, quantity, and variety of what I experienced. I would be happy to go back here again any time I'm in the area!

Absolutely incredible evening- I passed on the starters because I had my eye on main course and…read moresides. I had flap steak with fries and leek confit- beautifully prepared and the steak was the best steak I've ever had in my life- cooked medium rare to perfection. For dessert the Argentinian caramel ice cream and sabayon ice cream I was solo so I went wine by the glass and so reasonable and phenomenal selection The bottle selection equally good and again reasonable price Service was perfect- attentive without being overbearing Go here if you like great steak!
