Yelp! does it again! We found a mover by searching locally and found Moving & Hauling For Less. Yelp! has Elite badges for us Yelpers, but they could benefit from having an Elite badge for businesses like these guys that go beyond the 5-star level. When I think back on all the businesses I've reviewed on Yelp over the past 6 years, this one would be my first ballot choice for and 'Elite' business. You wouldn't think there's anything special about a moving company. They come get your stuff, then they move it to your new place, then leave. But Rolando and his team do things a bit differently, and that's a good thing. Our experience started here on Yelp! I found his review, and reached out to him. He and I communicated a bit, then he came to my house and gave an estimate, which was very reasonable. I thought the price he gave me was fair because (A) He said it wasn't an estimate, it was the final number that would not change (which turned out to be a good thing because our new house had a lot of stairs that took more effort), and (B) the price was reasonable based on previous moves I've done. I got two other quotes that were lower, but "quotes" subject to change. I like knowing exactly what I'm paying without surprises. On moving day is when I realized what we were getting for our money was so much more than we thought. Rolando and his crew don't just come and start loading stuff into a truck, he has a system that takes more work on his end, but protects your stuff. This is where I was impressed by his system. They snuggly wrap all the furniture with blankets and tape then move many pieces to the garage. The garage is where Rolando stages all the pieces like a puzzle. He doesn't just load items in the truck in the order they bring 'em out. He fits items into his truck like Tetris finding complimentary pieces that fill in holes to minimize moving around during the drive. That's harder to do than it sounds. When I looked at the truck during loading, it looked like a puzzle. Rolando has gotten good at loading his truck so nothing shifts around. It should be noted not a single item was damaged. Not a single wall was scuffed. No damage to anything, anywhere. I couldn't be a mover for a living. But Rolando does and has a very humble, positive attitude. Our house was a hard house to move into. Lots of twisting stairs that they had to move trees, shrubs and large furniture up. Rolando did it all with a great attitude. We ended up paying them more because they deserved it. Also, we invited Rolando and his family to our house warming party. Can't say enough good things about working with these guys, but if inviting him to our party doesn't tell you, hopefully this review portrays how great it was to work with Moving & Hauling for Less. read more

I contacted Rolando based on the strength of the yelp reviews and my expectations were definitely met. We had a complex moving situation involving staging, a storage unit, etc. and Rolando took it all in stride. He was professional with the quote, the packing assistance was finished early, and the move to the storage unit was quick and easy. Throughout the day the movers were professional, friendly and courteous and Rolando kept in touch periodically to make sure all the timing was on track. Rolando and his crew helped my wife and I move from an upstairs barn apartment in Santa Rosa CA to an apartment in Chico CA in August. The crew were efficient, friendly and on time! Rolando's hand shake is as good as gold. He tells you the total price up front with no extra charges along the way. I had called several movers prior to calling Rolando and only one would bother to come out and physically see what our move involved. CANCELED MOVE AFTER ALL WAS AGREED UPON If I could give zero stars, I would. After emails and calls to plan a move in June, Rolando and I agreed on everything and I sent him my confirmation exactly as he directed. Within a couple of hours, he wrote to cancel my move because he accepted another one. The irony is that after giving me his word, his reason for the cancellation email is "I have to respect my word." Then he called the next day trying to schedule the move on another date that is convenient to him. I told him that is not possible and that even if it was, I could not trust him after reneging on our agreement. Within a few minutes of conversation, he managed to lie and contradict himself several times. read more

Efficient, reasonably priced, friendly. Moved the contents of a 2bdrm apartment from Sonoma county to Marin county in 5 hours. Nothing broken, no walls damaged. Negotiated a narrow driveway with no difficulty, and carried our heavy stuff up multiple flights of stairs without any trouble. A little more casual in their contracts and scheduling than I am used to from a moving company, but I am glad I did not let that change my mind. These guys are great. Rolando was very helpful in getting a quote together. He was even available on short notice, friendly and easy to work with. But we did not end up using his service. His quote came in higher than seemed reasonable because my move was a small move (probably no more than 3 hours for a 1 light bedroom) and Rolando never deploys his people for less than 5 hours. In the end, we did the move ourselves, using a U-Haul and a couple guys we got through them at less than half the price. To his credit, Rolando was amiable when I told him we'd have to move on and use others. So be aware that Celis might not be the right group of guys for a smaller move, something less than 5 hours. If I have a bigger move, you get I'll give Rolando another call. read more

Moving is always stressful. It was serendipitous that I came across Celis. They turned onto the street ahead of me as we had been contemplating who to use to ship (and maybe even to pack) our things as we prepared for our imminent move from Petaluma back to Sacramento. There was the truck--and there was my answer. I called them up and, even on a Sunday, Rolando Celis got back to me and answered all of my initial questions, from how to move my church organ to packing and shipping to 85 miles away. He was VERY communicative and prompt. He even came out to our apartment on a day that worked for us to give a free, no-obligation estimate just viewing our items. He followed-up through the process, ensuring that we were ready, gave us reminders, kept us informed. He said that he would send 3 men to load the truck--3 to load and 2 to deliver. On the morning of the move, he ended us sending 4, instead--making it much faster and more efficient. He under-promised and over-performed. When the staff came up to our apartment, they had all the supplies they needed, which they brought along. Not only were they hard-working, they were extremely polite and referred to me as sir, which seemed like they had great old-fashioned, family-style values generally lost to the world today. Another small (but great) detail is that when I offered the promised payment to them upon their arrival, they insisted on receiving it after delivery. A previous company seemed like the money was most important, but Celis made service first, collection second. They made the somewhat long-haul to Sacramento, and I was amazed at how well everything survived the trip, and similarly so, that they had the most amazing equipment to get up THREE flights of stairs. They never complained, though the lugging up to the top floor must've been brutal. Overall, I was similarly satisfied as everyone else who reviewed seemed to be. I'd recommend them above anyone else. Rolando and his team were amazing to help us move within Petaluma from our old house to new house. He came the same day we called him to give us a quote and he worked with us on the pricing. His team showed up on time and with a plan to get our overstuffed house packed up and moved in two days. I don't know what we would have done without his help!! Two days later I drove up to our new home and found him driving out of our new home's driveway. He had come over because he found a hose of ours that had been left in one of the carriers. Rolando was great at getting back to me and following-up with questions in regards to my move. He was very specific with his fees (ie. how many items, distance, stairs involved) which made me feel very comfortable as I knew what I was getting charged for. Other companies would throw me a number just out of the blue. He was very prompt the day of move-out/move-in and his team were very pleasant.
