From our first call, to the last item being brought into our new home, Robb&Messer was a great experience. The quote was incredibly reasonable, the service was wonderful, and the timing was absolutely perfect for what we needed and allowed me to set up our new house in plenty of time before my parents brought our kids over for their first night. We bought the guys lunch which they were incredibly grateful for, and they absolutely deserved the yummy sandwiches and so much more. The guys even helped us break down a built in bookshelf that was impeding removal of our giant couch, and they went above and beyond making it happen with the tools that they had on hand. When we move back into our home next year after the remodel, we will without a doubt be using Robb&Messer again. read more

it started with seeing the mover slide the wardrobe boxes down the solid oak staircase. I made the mover aware that it might damage the Oak . He was irritated and chastised me for mentioning it. Then when he started to place a wrapped object on our antiques server I asked him not to. He said he knew what he was doing and it was ok and placed the object on the antique server anyway! The 100 year old mirror was busted out of the frame which they had been cracked. He said if I was unhappy there were other moving companies. Wow! A broken antique mirror, an entire wardrobe box of clothes that came out of the closet dry cleaned and pressed were stuffed into a box. The person I spoke with about the clothes told me he doubted I had waited three months to unpack the wardrobe so he was skeptical. My parents custom made parson chairs were wrapped and wrinkled and now a 8 months later are still damaged. The final thing was I went to wax my chest of drawers today and realized the drawer pull had been busted off. This is a short list because there are more negative things but too many to list. We gave a large tip to each because some of the men did work hard but still if you have some kids furniture it's ok. If you have family heirlooms or antique furniture find a good moving company. read more

I assumed it would take the entire day, but 5 gentlemen and 2 trucks arrived at 8:00 am and we were completed before 2pm! From the first phone call with them, I was treated with respect, friendliness, and competence. They responded to my voice mail within 30 minutes, set up a mtg. with the WONDERFUL move coordinator for the next day, then gave me an estimate and scheduled the move within that same week. Brenda Zens completely underquoted the move to gain the business, then did not stand by her "not to exceed" quote. Assigned load to driver Douglas. Douglas must hate women and is by far the most verbally abusive person I've ever been trapped in my home with. First he refused to abide by the unpacking portion of the contract, talked over me, then threatened to take my property, for which delivery was prepaid, and leave. That would be theft, for which I would have called the police. The whole time we encountered issues, Brenda Zens and Luis Silva were non-responsive over the course of 4 days, unless it was to tell us how much more money we owed because of their crap estimate. At delivery, after arguing with me, Douglas decided to appeal to my husband (big mistake) to still wrangle a 5-star review from us. Fat chance. I have receipts/proof for everything I have stated here. Photos show how grossly underestimated the move was. About to undertake the biggest move of our lives, Robb & Messer really came through for us. We had intended to do all the packing ourselves, but when push came to shove, we were not able to finish because we just ran out of gas. The day of the move, we were still packing. After a review with what was left, our driver Paul, called the office and told them the news. Unfortunately, all of our utilities, including the phone, had been shut off and no one from the R&M office could get a hold of us. After about an hour, I finally called, upset, because we didn't know what was going on. Fortunately, the team over at the R&M office were able to help and got us two people to come and pack up the rest of our home in about 6 hours. The actual move happened a day later than we anticipated, but we were able to get out the door and start our epic journey driving across the country from Healdsburg, CA to Omaha, NE. It took us a week to get to our destination, but a little a longer for our driver to make it due to the Thanksgiving holiday, so we camped out in our new place until his arrival. While they did not make the estimated time of arrival, I was not worried, but just called the R&M office to ask for an update. Luis was super and got us the information we needed so we could prepare for a Saturday delivery instead of during the week. It actually worked out better since I was already working from home at my new job. So it was a win-win all around. When Paul and the crew arrived, it was exactly in the middle of the estimated window when Luis said they were going to arrive. Three hours later they were all done and I was signing the paperwork to accept the delivery. Robb & Messer really helped us out, made everything easy, and was worth every cent we paid for this move of a lifetime. They actually came in under the overall budget I had set for the move. I have used movers both for local moves, as well as across state lines, and I've never had what I'd consider a positive experience - until now. Based on previous not-so-great experiences, this time around I opted just to move everything on my own, and hire movers to move my peloton (since the warranty requires it, and they're heavy af), and a couple of oversized items. Holy. Smokes. Had I known how friendly, fast, respectful, on-time, efficient, and did I mention FAST (!) they were, I would have just hired them to move everything. From responding to my request for a quote on a Sunday within minutes, to their impeccable communication and flexibility with my often unpredictable work schedule, it was the easiest process. We just moved from Petaluma to San Francisco and these guys made the move so swift and easy! They showed up on time and immediately got to work. They even took apart our bed and couch and put them back together more securely than they were previously (so now I no longer have to worry about falling to my death in my sleep). Like Dave Robb, James and Gabriel listen. They planned packing and unpacking the truck BEFOREHAND, based on my concerns and needs for set up in storage unit. James and Gabriel are young men who seem to have "old" experience. Not only do they have a strong WORK ETHIC, but they are a synchronized team who efficiently yet carefully moved my office. Gabriel and James are courteous, and form a "hot-shot" team, having honed their skills for years, not needing to talk too much after initial planning. When they did talk, it almost seemed like short code accompanied by hand gestures and head nods, a well-synchronized team with experiential knowledge of the moving process. James and Gabriel were careful with my things, and practiced good safety in the office and down the stairs. Both wearing masks and keeping social distance, they moved over a hundred moving boxes, furniture, artwork, an lots of supplies and materials, going down the16 steps to reach the truck, and then 16 steps back up for the next load. Putting down two heavy duty tarps on the cement floor first, they carefully put away furniture and boxes, having listened and planned with me initially. Did a tricky move from LA to Sonoma County with 2 trucks. Both homes up steep narrow hillsides. One unpaved. Have to shout out to Ron and Dan who drove down from Petaluma and lead the move team in LA, then drove the trucks up north and lead the unpacking. They both went above and beyond all the way around. Without them it would not have happened. Overall, the rest of the Robb Messner team was good, but afew things you should watch out for. If you're moving somewhere with limited accessibility, make sure they visit that location ahead of time to assess needs. They said they would do this but they didn't, and the trucks got stuck halfway up our driveway and it took a bit to get them all the way up. In terms of packing, it was well worth them packing heavy items such as large mirrors and artwork, but when it came to some random small items we had them pack, we were unhappily surprised to find a number of boxes were packed with only one item. You pay per box and this was just wrong. If you book early, best to check in afew days ahead of time and review the plan with them, this would have helped with some miscommunication that happened on our first day. It all got straightened out though and overall they are a solid company that I would use again. read more

Late arrival to my house, showed up with 3 guys and billed us overtime for the hours the hours they DIDNT show up for then continued to work at a slower than competent rate even though we were quoted for half the of labor billed. When uploading, they broke a very expensive, sentimental piece that I asked to be carefully treated, and not only did they deny the damage caused, they yelled at my father who's nearby 80 years old for simply pointing out the fact. The were confrontational, rude, unprofessional and extremely crass. When I filed a complaint with the owner, I never got a single word of response or acknowledgement for the horrific service and overcharged prices. It's funny because when I went to pay my bill, the receptionist was aware of the issue and apologized on behalf of the owner and said she felt embarrassed for the horrible experience and that she'll remind the owner to call back - of course he never did. I used North Bay Self-Storage after and still do to this day. They are pleasant, attentive and affordable nor do you have to pay to enter the unit unlike Robb & Messer. The name speaks true - they rob you blind while doing a horrifically messy job. A fake smile to sell themselves and a few sweet words to establish the sale then they deliver with poor performance and ex-con like customer engagement. Highly advise seeking alternative services because this is hands down the worst storage facility around. read more

WATCH OUT! You will be taken advantage of. I used Robb & Messer moving in a move in August of this year from on home in Corte Madera to another in Corte Madera. The estimator, Rich, took good account of my moving information and he was provided with accurate information regarding the challenging driveway at the new home with a request that he inspect the situation. On the day of the move the crew arrived with not enough men to complete the job. Not only did the move cost TWICE, YES DOUBLE as much as estimated it took two days instead of one. The moving crew was certain that Rich didn't go an look at the new home and they arrived unprepared. After complaining directly Robb and Messer offered a paltry 5% refund and never took any accountability or apologized for their negligence. I sent 4 emails requesting the 5% refund, was told twice it was coming, but I never received it. DO NOT FIND YOURSELF IN THIS SITUATION. read more

Many, many thanks to OJ (estimator), Luis (move coordinator), and especially our fabulous crew, Evan, Blake, Raphael, and Luis! I could not be more satisfied with our Sonoma County move. Please note that our move took place during the Sonoma County COVID Shelter-in-Place Order, so this was not an ordinary move for us. I was extremely anxious about moving when we did. We had to for health reasons related to safety work that needs to be done on our rental. My husband is at high risk for a poor outcome if he gets COVID-19. Our regular mover will not work until the order is lifted. I've trusted him for 25+ years and was worried I wouldn't find someone else I knew would take the COVID issue seriously. In addition to our COVID concern, our move was also somewhat complicated. We've been renting a furnished home since we lost ours in the Tubbs Fire in 2017. Over the past two years we've bought some furniture, storing what we didn't use of our landlord's stuff in a fourth bedroom we never used. We needed to make sure we didn't take any of their stuff, took all of our stuff, and put all of their furniture back where it was when we moved in. I had taken pictures when we moved in to make sure we got that last part right. Robb & Messer were fantastic. They were highly recommended by a trusted friend. They moved us from Forestville to Oakmont. They did an excellent job from the first phone contact to double-checking that everything in our new place was properly placed, plugged in, and working perfectly. We want to thank everyone we worked during our move. OJ was my first contact. He and I connected by FaceTime and did a virtual walk-through that allowed him to come up with a cost estimate. I thought the estimate was reasonable, especially given the COVID issue. The final bill was quite a bit less. OJ told me that no one was allowed to come to work if they had symptoms. Luis coordinated our move, working with me to move our start time to accommodate my husband's disability which causes him to take time getting going in the morning. Our crew were the best. I am very grateful to Evan, Blake, Raphael, and Jesus. I cannot thank our crew enough. Everyone was extremely professional. I felt immediately reassured that they would use COVID precautions correctly throughout the move. Everyone wore masks and I had gloves for them. The men were friendly, appropriate, maintained a good mood, and kept my spirits up while we worked together. They were very careful with every item. My husband's audio system, something he was worried about, was handled with extreme care. Once our things were loaded into the truck, the crew and I laid out the printed-out pictures of how each room in the house looked when we moved in. I have to say, I had to laugh out loud when two of the crew (can't remember which two, I'm so sorry) took the time and care to put the living room rug back into the EXACT position (to the inch) that the picture showed. Who does that? These guys! Once we got to the new place we did a walk through to determine where things would go. Everything was unloaded and placed with the same amount of care. I was wiped out (the day was super hot), but the crew continued to work quickly and carefully. When we were done Evan had me walk through each room to make sure things were well-placed, centered, and working properly. We have a complicated adjustable bed frame with lots of wires and plugs and a remote control. The crew got it assembled and working on the first try. I would not hesitate to call Robb and Messer. These guys rock. Got a recommendation from a friend who used them a couple times and Yelp reviews speak for themselves. From the walk through, to moving day, to tips on moving, to accuracy of quote, to overall value, R & M delivered for me and my family on moving day. We were in the process of buying our first home so trying to nail down a moving date was tough to begin with. Dave offered up a few different days and times, suggested we do early in the day since it was a short distance move and then also mentioned, if we need to reschedule just give him about a week heads up if possible. Lucky for us our move date didn't need to change, so Dave swung by our house for a walk-through. He gave us tons of tips on how we can make this move efficient and affordable...for example: - Start boxing up as much as you can, kitchens take the longest so if you feel comfortable - Label boxes on both sides and the room you want them to go to (i.e. Kitchen - glassware) - Un-assemble the Crib - Create a "parts" box for all the things that need to get un-assembled and wrap those parts in packing paper, tape and label it. - Roll rugs up if you can - Take down all photos, paintings - Leave clothes in dressers - Anything on hangers goes in wadrobe boxes so those just can stay right where they are. Asked about tipping too, because for as long as I can remember I never know how much to tip the actually movers - about $20 per guy is right, a little lower or higher depending on size and time spent. Packing up a 5 bedroom house for example, go higher. For us we were packing up our 2 bedroom town home. Local moves are priced generally on size and time, so if you can reduce time the guys have to spend just packing stuff up or trips back and forth to the Anyway, the guys (evan, Sean or John, and Solomon) arrived around 730am, they were polite and personable and these guys moved fast. Our stuff arrived safe and sound and couldn't be happier with the service. Highly recommend for local and state moves, and I believe they handle long-distance out of state as well. Also, they have storage if you need to use it temporarily. Didn't need to use it since we are actually in desperate need of furniture, but good to know. read more

I was told by routing that there was a 5 hour minimum fee of $1350.for three men. I was told (and wrote down) that charge included travel time but that the men were coming locally 15 minutes from my home. After the men were at my home for 2 1/2 hours they announced they would be leaving in 1/2 hour as they had 50 minutes travel time each way. They were going to charge me $520 for travel time. When calling the dispatcher I was told that was my problem not theirs and I must have misunderstood. No one in their right mind would have agreed to $520 travel time. I never in my life would I have agreed to use this company under those circumstances. In addition to that the men complained about everything while they were moving, the bed frame didn't fit although it did, they refused to put on shoe covers, it took too long to get there, on and on. I finally had to speak to the owner of the company to get the issues resolved. All in all the movers were the worse contractors I had ever dealt with in my life and I have moved personal, business and relative's at least 15 times in 40 years. read more

Choose ANYONE else, or Celis did a good job for me after I had to get my stuff out of their overpriced storage vaults with limited access & a cost to use (wtf? didn't explain that to me). Watch out for employees milking clock and damaging your goods, and for the company looking to bill overtime when job scope did not require it. Over all.. I'm very disappointed with the move and was sorely tempted to give 1 star. There were times communication was extremely good, and time communication was completely missing. Mainly I was unhappy with the way my items were treated and the actual moving day was very very confusing, it seemed like communication wasn't passed around at all. We only had THREE items we needed them to move. 1. piano 2. accordion 3.TV These are the things I was most unhappy with. 1. I was sold on the fact that my piano would not be making lots of trip to other locations. This was a flat out lie. 2. Not only did it make trips to other places, My $30,000 heirloom Grand Piano also ended up having other peoples items stacked and placed on top of it due to limited space in the truck. (the mover insisted he did it responsibly.. but.. my eyes turned to saucers when he told me this) 3. Of the 3 items they forgot 2. Yep.. They forgot to move the TV and the Accordion. Communication the day of the move was horrible.. no one knew what was going on or what they were doing. They eventually came back to get the TV.. but then FORGOT THE accordion!! and then.. on a 3rd trip.. they came back for the accordion. (explanation below) Last year my mom passed away, I wanted to move a few of her heirlooms up (mainly the piano) and called Robb & Messer. I was in between booking them, and another piano company that was cheaper at the time. Dave reassured me they were worth the extra cost, and that the other "cheaper" mover probably was making multiple stops to drop-offs in order to offer a cheaper price and that wouldn't be good for my piano to travel so much. And he was right, the other mover openly said he would also be picking up 2 other pianos. I agreed with him and decided to book them. (little did I know my Piano would be traveling around for picks ups anyways) I told them the item needs to be picked up from my mom's home, but my sister was only available between 1p-4p on Sunday. Robb & Messer confirmed this was it was no problem at all and that the Piano and they would take care of me. (little did I know they would forget items over and over and would need to return outside of that window multiple times) The booking experience was great and easy, they reassured me how professional they were, and they would take great care of me. They were easy to reach and got back quickly. The days before were still great. Luis called me and confirmed what they were moving, listed the piano, accordion and TV. I had no reason to believe anything would go awry And that is where, unfortunately.. all the good stuff ended. I felt absolutely tricked. Due to the passing of my mom.. I've had to deal with many movers 4 times in the past year.. and this was the most poorly organized I've ever experienced. AND it was only for 3 items. On the day of the move the first team of people arrived and had no idea what was going on, they ONLY had moving materials. They had no idea if a truck was coming or if anyone else was coming. They simply just didn't know anything at all. Luckily, another group arrived with a truck, but only moved the piano, when we asked them about the other items, they said "OH uh, we don't know, we think another team is supposed to pick it up" (we had no reason not to believe them since it seemed like they were all coming in groups that didn't communicate with each other) A few hours later.. they decide to come back for the TV "just in case" but NOT the accordion. At this point.. I was in disbelief. How hard it is to move 3 items? I understand if we gave them a long complicated list.. but just THREE. They ended up picking up the accordion the next day. It was honestly a logistical nightmare for me as I was at work, trying to make these phone calls during my short breaks. These items were really precious to me as my mom passed away last year, and they belonged to her. Ultimately the Piano, TV, and Accordion are here.. but it was not a good experience. Kyle was very apologetic and said he was very embarrassed by what happened. He also said he would have never approved my move having "sole use of the truck" Dave was not that apologetic, he simply told me it was a hard business and all moves have issues. I had to reiterate that it was only 3 items. Bt not a single apology out of him. Kyle offered to adjust my price IF I could prove that Dave sold me on exclusive use of the truck. Unfortunately, our correspondence was over the phone, and i had no such proof. In the end, no discounts or adjustments were made on my move. Communication was great throughout! The movers arrived right on time and were super friendly. They treated my furniture and boxes with care. Everything arrived in my new place in great shape. Highly recommend this company! read more

These guys are amazing. I had an awesome experience for a flat rate for a quick move of a fridge and washer and dryer from San Rafael to Rohnert Park. I called them that day at 9AM and guess what, their truck was in front of my house at 10:30AM. By noon, the entire job was done. What else can be expected? read more
