My buffet lunch; $10
Doug R.

An excellent $10 lunch buffet ... that is certainly popular with the locals. The staff is attentive. The restroom is clean. Plenty of parking.

A full plate from the lunch buffet.

Eddie's Cafe is a nice stop while in Newton Grove, NC. The BBQ is good and they have a very friendly staff. We opted for the lunch buffet during our visit. We tried the chicken pastry, fried chicken, bbq, fried fatback, cole slaw, and hush puppies. It was all good and a really fair value at $9 a person.

You better stop here to eat!!!! Very well could be the best bbq ive ever had!! Wifey had the chicken and says "its the kind of fried chicken she wishes she could make at home." The stewed potatoes are freakin awesome!!! The hushpuppies are amazing too!!! Its worth getting off 40 and taking the time to eat!!!! You are a fool if you do not.

High hopes for this place. A lot of food - great prices. Lacked flavor in the flounder and the BBQ pork :( cold slaw good but plain. Hush puppies tasted like donuts! Not very corn meal- ish. Canned green beans. Fried chicken was good!! Stick with the chicken.

I love Yelp! It led me to this gem. I went to the Carolina Nutcracker for pecans and looked on Yelp for a lunch spot. I got the BBQ tray for $5.50. bbq, slaw and freshly cooked hush puppies. It hit the spot! They also had a very nice looking buffet with vegetables that looked good. I had trouble deciding so I will need to come back. The service was very good. A nice, friendly, locally run place. You know when there are lots of trucks in the parking lot, it's gotta be good. I highly recommend it!

Glad I stopped. Had the large fried oyster plate with French fries and slaw, a Pepsi, and some tartar sauce. Hushpuppies were great too. Nice and light.

Good lord. I moved to the meadow area just over 6 months ago. I have driven by this spot several times seeing how I shop at food lion right close to here for my groceries. How. I mean how have I not stop here yet. I guess because I'm not a huge everyday bbq person. But finally decided to stop in. And I will say this. First and foremost they have hands down the best fried okra. Then to top it off they had chicken pasty on the buffet. On this freezing cold day. It hit the spot. Cleaned my plate. Everyone raves about the meadow restaurant. They can't get close to this place. And it's so close to home.

Excellent! Stopped on our way to the beach. BBQ plate is very good. A hole in the wall that was well worth the stop. Kid friendly.

Great small town place. Lots of regulars. Although the place is short on aesthetics, it's long on taste. Killer pulled pork.

Is a lady named Janice an owner? She would have retired from the Air Force.

Hello, my name is Janet and my husband and I own the restaurant. But I'm not retired from the Air Force. Thanks!

What is the price for the lunch buffet and what kind of fish do they serve?

Hi! Our lunch buffet is $9.00 and that price includes tax and your beverage if you choose tea or lemonade. However, sodas are an additional charge to the $9.00. Also, we serve trout, flounder, catfish, and tilapia daily in addition to other seafood… Read more

Being a fan of non-chain local spots, all of them have their quirks and this one's is pretty simple: They have 2 front doors yet one is the entrance and one is the exit. Both are clearly marked and steps from each other; impossible to miss. Upon entering, you seat yourself, a friendly waitress takes your drink order then its on you to lay back your ears and dive in the buffet. Next nifty quirk are the buffet plates: Real glass, y'all! Plenty of places claim to have soul food but how many of them serve up food on proper plates with proper utensils?! As you can see from my plate, all the bases are covered and you won't leave hungry. Trout, fried chicken, baked chicken, sketti, Mac & cheese, slaw, tater salad, collards, black eye peas, taters and gravy... Now unlike most places I must admit, if you have it in you to do so -leave room for desert!- I didn't get a pic of the 2 different types of cake I ate so someone else can brag on those after taking my advice to stop on in. I even joked that the reason we can't have places like this in the city is because people like me would order a coffee and pay for the buffet, but simply sit and eat a little over a quarter of one of those splendid cakes : D

Great variety of home cooked foods. Large, roomy dining hall adequate for family groups.read more

Meat is sold by the pound here. 1/4 pound don't sound like much but fills an average person up nicely. If yer like me, n want leftovers for late-night tv watchin', or t'take to work for lunch t'marra, go ahead n order a half pound. I ordered brisket, which was so tender it fell apart on my fork, n sausage, which was already cut in slices for me but dripping juice anyway. (They serve it right here, too, obviously). You git yer choice of their house sawses. Their Grand Champion Sawse, which is a smoky-tangy-sweet, or Competition Sawse, which is "tangy-sweet w/a little heat" (I didn't find it "hot" but I'm used t'eatin' jalapenos) or the North Carolina Sawse, which is yer Tarheel Vinegar style. They're all good, and I et a bit o each, but the Competition Sawse is prolly my fave. The food is very reasonably priced, especially for bbq, and you won't spend n arm n a leg if'n ya eat here. We love their vittles, n plan t'ask 'em about catering our anniversary party t'add a touch o class t'the occasion. Recommend highly!!!

Exceptional food AND service!!!…read more The Redneck BBQ Lab is conveniently located right off of I-40 and is a great place to stop in for a great meal. If you are traveling (or just need fuel) you can fill up at the fuel pumps while grabbing a bite to eat, as this restaurant is connected to a gas station! The brisket here is tender and has a great balance of fat and lean meat. Their competition sauce goes great with it, along with some freshly brewed sweet tea to chug it down! The jalapeño mac and cheese is awesome but you can definitely taste the jalapeño. It is not subtle. They also give you a biscuit AND a slice of cornbread! Even though this is a "help yourself" restaurant with free seating and grab-it-yourself utensils, there is an employee frequently walking around asking if he can refill your drinks and is welcome to strike up a conversation with you. The one in particular is extremely friendly, and is always at the restaurant to make your experience more enjoyable!

The service was extremely good, great timing. The steaks were perfect. The sides were perfect. The dining room area is ok, just has the ambiance of a cafeteria. We walked up and were immediately greeted and seated. I ordered an apple pie cocktail (this is a must order) to start and they brought a basket of rolls. The rolls were so soft and fluffy! I know people talk about roadhouse rolls but these are definitely right up there with them! And they came with this cinnamon butter that was incredible. I may have eaten the other half of my boyfriends roll. He ordered a steak topped with Asiago and mushrooms while I ordered the new Orleans salmon. The steak was so incredibly tender. It basically melted in your mouth. My only slight disappointment was the alfredo sauce for the salmon was broken and a little lumpy. The flavor was on point but I would have preferred a non-broken alfredo sauce. This is now one of my favorite steakhouses and I'll definitely be returning in the future!
