This local restaurant is a go to place for all of your favorite southern foods. A little difficult to find because their sign out front is broken. Picnic table casual dining with buffet. Very friendly waitress. I like how there are so many dishes to try out and you can get just a little or a large amount. Seems that mostly locals only know about it and it is a legacy restaurant handed down from the original Chason. They have some original signage / memorabilia hanging up inside from the original restaurant. Stopped on for lunch, there was a large variety of food and fixings. Service was good, our server was on the run refilling folks drinks. The ambiance was basic a bit loud and AC was not putting out much cool air as it was warm in the dinning area and a bit uncomfortable. We have been regular customers for years and years, Always look forward to dining here at Chason's grandson's restaurant. Certain times of certain days can be crowded but the foods keep coming from the kitchen to keep that buffet full. We like to arrive on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon after the lunch hour between two and four o'clock. Very pleasant down home atmosphere . Weekends can be busy but still worth the trip. We still cherish our memories of Mr Fred Chason at the first restaurant in Lumber Bridge and the one's that were on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. If you want a nice/ affordable southern meal, this is a place to check out. We went for lunch which was $9.99 & its buffet style. They have a variety of meats (flounder, pig feet, chicken (baked & fried) pork chops, gizzards,etc). Also, most sides were flavorful. A simple, nothing fancy buffet of Mac N Cheese, Fried Chicken, and Fried Fish. A decent selection considering it was under $14 per person. My favs were Fried Chicken, Mash Potatoes, and the Fried Fish. The fried chicken & fish were crunchy and tasted very good. Now the food is not heavily seasoned and might come across as bland but that is how home cooking is. Served right out of the fryer, you can season it to your taste at the table. Anyway, for dessert I had Blue Bell ice cream sandwiches and the old school ice cream cups. Brings back memories of my childhood eating these ice cream cups. They also had cakes and other ice cream as well but I was too full by this point. We came here early but this place started filling up when prime dinner hours started rolling around. F C's G, pretty much represents what a southern buffet looks like. It had all the meats and sides that you would expect to find. Yesterdays visit found the place packed with a mix of familys either all getting together for Sunday lunch or some coming over after church. A couple of misteps: silverware was not filled so there was a wait, after this was brought to a server's attention it was taken care of, and some of the more popular food item's were not filled for quite a while. Some of the stand outs were the delicious fried chicken and bar bq chicken, small fried shrimp and hush puppies. The cabbage, and mac and cheese were tasty, but some of the vegetables, like the corn and green beans needed some additional seasoning. One item that I always look for was fried okra which appeared to be missing from the food line. Banana pudding was ok, but an empty tray that might of held some sort of cobler was never filled was I was there. The price of over $14.00 seemed a little steep. read more

I'd truly give them 3.5 stars. Lots of food choices, many southern comfort foods. Collard greens, Mac and cheese, ham, beans of different varieties, pulled pork, hush puppies, fried fish, friend clams and shrimp, bbq/fried/baked chicken, candied yams, ribs, rolls, and the list goes on. Dessert they had ice cream cups, cookies, banana pudding, pies, jello. Overall food is decent. I did notice a running theme of food needing salt. Also there was much variety but much of the food was just meh. Nothing to wow or knock your socks off. The hush puppies tho are amazing. We stopped in to FCG's on our drive back to NJ from Georgia. The servers were so kind too. The menu is labeled, so that those who wish to be pork free can be. This is easily my favorite soul food buffet in Fayetteville! They offer military discounts. They have delicious country food on the buffet line to include: bbq chicken (finger licking good); chitlins; cabbage; different types of greens; hushpuppies; fried shrimp; fried fish; green beans; lima beans; butter beans; meat loaf; fried chicken. The list goes on and on. They have cakes, pies and cobblers; they also have a salad bar. I gave Grandsons 4 stars because whomever is responsible for making the macaroni does not do a good job in my opinion. The macaroni appears to be delicious, but once you dig your fork into it and put it in your mouth, you immediately realize that something is missing in the flavor department and I am disappointed each time I visit. There were so many different types of chicken but I chose the barbecue chicken because I'd read good reviews. It was perfect-- moist but not greasy with a great flavor. Pork barbecue was delicious. Loved all the selection of beans -- butter, Lima, green, pinto, black eyed peas. Entire family, even vegetarian daughter, left with happy tummies. Eleven year old declared biscuits the best ever. They have opened up a few around the area, but 301 will always be the first & best location. But, the wait is never to long and for a family of 4 you pay a little over $40 with all waters. The food is why you are really reading this. I think I chose a different Grandsons to eat at. My mom went on and on about how big the buffet was and the crazy amount of options at lunch but most of what she said she liked there was not there at all. The ambience is adorable.. it reminds me of visiting my family in Tennessee. Wooden tables and chairs... dusk/lower type lighting. Service was not so friendly at the register. It was actually a bit off putting but I was already there so we were going to eat. The server was a lot more friendly and I appreciated her. Food wise there's a lot but most of the vegetables likely came from a can. I'm not complaining too much because it was still enjoyable. Things to stood out- good sized salad bar! The fried chicken was amazing and so were the hush puppies. Tons of dessert cakes, two types of cookies, low sugar cookies and cups of ice cream. I kept going back for the bbq chicken and sweet potatoes The not so good- the beefy/veggie soup kinda tasted like someone dumped a sour ketchup bottle in it.
