    a burger and onion rings

My husband and I love finding small town local diners and trying them out while we are out and about on one of our adventures . Today Old Stone Cafe did not disappoint. It has that hometown feel filled with locals who you know are regulars. I ordered the cheese burger with lettuce, tomato and onion with a side of onion rings. This burger was done perfectly so juicy and the seasoning was on point ! My husband had the double with fries. Exactly as well. We were given a complimentary piece of cornbread cake. My first time trying it and we'll there is not a picture because I inhaled it lol . Great staff, farm style vibe just an all around great place !

This place falls keeps quietly into the Americana experience space. The meals are staples, solid, and made with love. My burger had some nice spicing to it that I couldn't place, but it was lovely. The folks here are kind and welcoming as well

Deducted 1 star because NC style barbecue sauce is just god awful and it's all they have here. Even…read morethe "red barbecue sauce" I tried to order tasted like straight vinegar. The exit where this Smithfield's is located is one of the last good stops in the drive from Raleigh to Wilmington and unlike the other places around, Smithfield's is one of the few sit-down places. With a large restaurant with plenty of long tables, it's great for a group. You order at the front and you listen to your number to pick up your food and sit. Prices are reasonable ($8-10 for most plates/platters) but the plates are humongous and I wish there were slightly smaller options for people who can't finish 3 huge chicken tenders and three sides. Food was cooked to order but still kind of seemed like they were popping frozen chicken into a fryer and there was a lot of extra fat in the tenders. Fries and hushpuppies were the standouts, with the hushpuppies light & fluffy inside. Baked beans were forgettable but at least not vinegar based like everything else. Sweet tea was basically pure sugar and needed to be cut with lots of unsweetened tea to be palatable. Brunswick stew that my friend ordered was the most reasonably portioned item but really just seemed like all the meats this place cooks thrown together in an unappetizing-looking tomato-based stew. I would not come here again by choice, but it did fit the need of having something passable to eat from a clean restaurant right off the exit when we needed it.

We stood in slow poke line to place order. First mistake employee only gave us two cups instead of three. After getting drinks the order was ready . Brought it to the table to unpack the bag. Mistake number two they forgot the McDouble. Mistake number three my daughter who has a severe onion allergy opened her cheeseburger to find onions.. She took it back up to the counter and told the manager the problem. Manager dumped her cheeseburger and personally made a replacement. We finished our lunch and took drinks to the car for sipping on the road. After ten minutes on the road I got severe gas cramps and needed to find a restroom. We made a side trip to locate the Exxon station advertised. After taking care of the emergency we continued.on.our way home. Once home I took another sip of my High C orange. Once again I became really sick and realized mistake number four, it was the drink that was making me sick,! It got dumped and I was back in the bathroom to overcome my stomachache. McDonald's I'll be careful to NOT COME HERE AGAIN!!!

The food was good. The salad bar was complete, well maintained, and attractive. The lettuce was crisp, onions were sliced, and tomatoes were firm. Even the dressings were properly stirred and containers were cleaned of any spills. Nice! The Ribeye was cooked to perfection and had been properly seasoned. The baked potato was served pre-split, yet was siping hot. Even the Texas Toast was perfectly prepared and served hot. A big improvement from last trip! Bravo! The server was polite, yet very busy. When I arrived, she appeared to be the only one on duty. About 15 minutes after 12 noon, a second server appeared and seemed to add some much needed help. Ambiance had improved. Although furnishings were the same, everything had been deep-cleaned, from floor to ceiling. Nice job! I'll be back!

We waited 45 minutes for this "bread sandwich" with a taste of Chicken. The manager was rude but kind enough to give us a $1.42 discount. We noticed several tables leave before their food came. Wish we had. I cannot stress enough to steer clear of this place. There's a Wendy's a 1/4 mile away that will offer better service and 3-times the chicken for a lesser price.
