On a recent road-trip to Goldsboro, NC we stopped in Dunn for dinner. The Butcher's Table was listed in the top 3 places to eat and this place deserves every ! The atmosphere may be rather nondescript and the menu is only 1 page, but it didn't take long to know they focused on the main thing --the best steak I've ever eaten! Our server, Ashley, was very attentive and knowledgeable about every cut and how it was prepared. We will definitely be back for another meal, but will also come early to shop the butcher shop to take something home. read more

After hearing about this place for a long time, my boyfriend finally took me here for my birthday dinner! It was delicious! The blooming onion was so sweet and the sauce was great. I had the filet and he had the ribeye. The Rum Runner was on point. Whatever seasoning they use for the steaks is stellar, we didn't even use steak sauce. Sides were yummy, and we only had a 15 min wait. They have limited hours and don't take reservations, but you can call ahead and tell them you're coming to get on the list. Amazing ambiance but close quarters!! The staff is super busy but attentive. Not a big place so make sure you either have reservations or get there early. The ribeye steak was amazing with the needed/amazing seasoning to really enjoy each fork-filled bite. The chef came out to greet us and it was amazing to have this type of experience. We stopped by here with a purpose of supporting g a local business and we are glad we did. Parking was easy as it was not busy (630pm). We were seated quickly right by the front door. Allison our server was amazing. She was polite, attentive and focused on us equally as with her other tables. She recommended the onion appetizer and was right in saying it was better than outback. It was truly fresh and tasted great. Both dinners came with a garden salad which was ok. The steaks were seasoned perfectly and cooked according to our taste. They were great cuts and really good. We were not rushed at all. The only negatives was sitting by the front door, only one appetizer to choose from and no desserts. It is only open on Friday and Saturday in the evening. This place fills up fast, the drinks were amazing as we waited for our table. With the menu so small the tables do turn pretty fast. It can get loud inside. But that's to be expected. Food was cooked perfectly and hot when it came out. I just wished they had something else in the place of the salad for those of us how don't eat salads. So I did feel a little left out when my table got their salads. Maybe like a cup of soup or something. But other than that it was a great experience and the food was delicious. Loved the store and enjoyed my purchase. Definitely family run. I was helped as soon as I reached the counter. Was in for 2 lbs of ground beef. They didn't have any displayed, but happily went to the back to file the order. Tried some maple breakfast sausage as well. Lots of local brands to accompany your purchase. T-shirt's at check out. EXCELLENT! We had a brief wait for a Friday night but enjoyed a beverage. While waiting, the hostess gave us some great advice- mainly that the steaks were exceptional. She was not wrong. This restaurant is the epitomy of the tale of the Emporer's Clothes. Bartender - Terrible and wouldn't look you in the eye...while we sat at 2 of the 8 bar seats and could NOT get a drink. 40 minutes before we got a drink. Watching her work was akin to watching a child with ADHD trying to play a game of Jinga...she was unfriendly, unorganized, and the anchor around the neck of our dining experience. 2 hours before we were sat. Extremely limited menu...choose a cut and size of steak...sweet or baked potato....dressing for your iceberg salad... that's it! They'll charge you $50 for a plate with $15 worth of mediocre food. This place was unorganized, inefficient, and a complete waste of a date night. This place would be perfect if you had no life and no grill in your backyard. Not the best steakhouse I have ever visited but by far the best steakhouse I have visited in the area. We had a party of 5. Our orders included filets, ribeyes and a NY strip. All were generally fork tender. The house seasoning had a bit too much pepper for me but was still good. The menu is limited to steaks only. Every order gets a salad, baked potato or baked sweet potato and a piece of Bar-b-que bread. One appetizer on the menu which was a fried onion. The prices were not cheap but very fair. A good selection of bourbons. A very friendly and attentive staff. Cheers to a simple menu done well. read more

On Saturday night around 8:30, stepped in, open, clean table right in front of us. (My wife's birthday and just the two of us). 15 minutes later, not a single person working there had greeted us. Walked to the end of the bar about 20 feet away and asked a worker (table cleaner) what we needed to do and he took our name down. Five minutes later, still no acknowledegment so did an about face and walked out. Oh, and by the way, we observed other customers sitting at their table that didn't appear to be all that thrilled. A friend told us about this place so we stopped in for dinner as we were passing through Dunn. It was one of the best steaks I've eaten. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. The atmosphere was fine. We got there early and were probably the second people in the restaurant. The prices were a little more than we would have liked to pay, but my filet was good and worth the price. It took a good while to even get our salad which was a bit frustrating considering there was hardly anyone there. The steaks took a bit longer because my husband likes his well done. Even after waiting a good bit for our steaks, we had to send his back because it was pretty pink on the inside. They did accommodate his request and managed to get it right on the second try. Overall, it's a quaint restaurant but I'm not sure it's somewhere I would go unless it was a special occasion. read more

Drove an hour to try this locally owned restaurant, and yes I would do it again. Simple scaled back menu with one appetizer offered and no desserts. This place is all about the steaks and it doesn't try to impress its patrons by pretending to be something it isn't. I ordered a MedRare NY Strip and was very impressed with it. It was a quality cut of beef, expertly prepped, and grilled to perfection. The server and staff were very pleasant. The prices were a little higher than I expected, but I'm satisfied my meal was worth the price. I will be back and I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys a great steak.
