I finally found an Iris Pub that serves Guinness stew and it was amazing. My wife ordered their spaghetti and she loved it. She had some to take home and devoured it the next day. The server was great she kept coming by asking if we needed anything and our drinks were constantly kept up. Monday at around 12:30 in the afternoon - it appears there is only the bartender waiting tables. Today, that's not an issue - we're the only people there. Bartender was very nice & attentive. Reuben rolls were very good. $12 for three rolls. Irish 'poutine' was disappointing: very soupy shredded beef over fries means soggy fries. Cheese on top was feta - how is this Irish or poutine? Served boiling hot. Guinness stew was nothing more than shredded beef (I think it's the same thing that was poured over our fries) with a slice of cooked carrot. I wouldn't be afraid to go again, but I'll try other restaurants in the area first. read more

We were driving home from the beach and was taking the back way home. When we needed lunch this looked like a good place to try and it is! Our waitress was very attentive, friendly, and if she didn't know the answer to a question she went and found out. I appreciated that. My spouse had the broccoli cheese soup, which she really enjoyed and an order of house chips. I had the Guinness beef stew, which was delicious, and we both enjoyed the toast that came with it. The restaurant is nicely decorated with an obvious Irish theme, though the music is a bit much after a while. LOL! The lock in the ladies room was an interesting touch! After months of waiting for this place to open, it finally did! The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. Kyle was our waiter and he was wonderful! My dad and I ordered yuengling beers off the tap and they were crisp and refreshing. He ordered the ruben sandwich and I ordered the fish and chips. Both meals were fresh and satisfying. I visited Gillians Irish Pub in Dunn, NC. What a great place. It has a very authentic feel of Ireland. The bartender/waitress had a very appropriate name....Joy !! Joy was very professional, personable, caring and extremely hard working. She never stopped moving the whole time I was there. She even helped arrange for customers to get rides to and from the establishment if needed. Joy represented Gillians so well. Extremely organized and hard working. She was truly a "JOY" !! This was our second trip. We got the Guinness Stew and Corned Beef and Cabbage. (We traveled to Ireland in March and had the real deal there). First - I couldn't eat the corned beef. The taste and saltiness wasn't good to me so my husband ended up eating that. Second - the Guinness Stew was like a blended up tuna salad consistency. Totally unexpected. I was expecting a beef stew but this wasn't it. We also felt a bit rushed to order (she asked at the same time she gave us menus). Arrived about 520 in the evening. Place was not very busy. Atmosphere was Irish themed but with American music playing. While the drinks were good the overall service and food were somewhat lacking. Cheese curds were about 7/10 but dipping sauce was extremely runny. Poutine was a 5/10 as I did not enjoy the gravy so that could be just my taste buds. Ordered a burger medium well but it came out medium rare. Sent back but took about 30 minutes to get another cooked (not sure why it took that long). Was told 3 times it would be right out or it was being plated right now (10 minutes later it arrived). Over all I would say a 6/10 to grab a drink but unless other food is better than what we consumed I would just stick to a drink. read more

Went in with my wife and we were told to sit anywhere by another customer. No issues. There seemed to be one gal taking orders for everyone in this pub. She told us it would be a few minutes. 30 minutes went by and this gal was busting her hump to bring food out from the kitchen and work the bar and she had not been by to get our drink orders. I'm not upset or mad with her. I get it. While waiting patiently, a gentleman in a plastic green fedora told her to "shut it down" after she let him know that we had already been seated. "Shut it down". I assume he was the manager? To the gal working every table in that place, you're killing it. To the dude that wanted to "shut it down", it probably would have been a good idea to have more than one gal on St. Paddy's day working the front in your Irish pub. I wish I could have tried a drink or a dish to have more feedback on, but I wasn't afforded either. Unfortunately, I won't give this establishment another shot. read more

We live about 45 minutes away, this was our second time there and like the first time the food was outstanding! I don't see why Gillian's isn't rated an least a 4 1/2. So disappointed. Last time I was here we got corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef was beautiful, piled on sliced pieces on a bed or gorgeous cabbage steamy and juicy! This time we came, the corned beef came out, maybe barely a a half a cup of dried out looking shredded corned beef looking like it came out of a can and was thrown on a one cup bed of cabbage. This mind you, was a meal for $18. I get that shrink-flaring is a thing but this was truly disappointing after the order I previously had was just 3 weeks prior. Disappointing. We have been to Gillian's twice. Food was good. Wait staff excellent. Why won't be go back? The owner! I've seen here there twice and she has the absolute worst attitude, like a spoiled brat who is holding back a temper tantrum. She has a great staff and there is nothing she demonstrates that shows she appreciates them. Tacky decor doesn't help either but I'd go again if I were not supporting an owner with a terrible demeanor. You may be ticked but hide it while you're around customers!!! read more

Really liked the look of the place. Definitely had a pub feel about it on the inside. Great selection of whiskey to choose from. The food is good although I wouldn't get the wings again they were very average. But the bangers and mash were spot on. I almost gave it three stars because the only real problem I had with the experience was service. Not the people themselves they were great but it was so so slow. I appreciate that it's probably a hiring issue but it was an issue. We will definitely tely go back again though. read more

We arrived at the place at about 4pm, and it wasn't busy, and were promptly seated. The server was very friendly and outgoing, and the table was beautiful. The ambience was a mix of traditional Irish, as well as Notre Dame and Boston Celtics memorabilia. The music was a good mix of Southern Rock and Irish Traditional. My wife had the Munster Rueben and I had the Fish and Chips. We both were very full and satisfied, and the food was served at just the right temperature. We will definitely be returning. read more

Terrible experience! My wife enjoys corned beef and cabbage, so we drove from Fayetteville for St Paady's day meal. we had eaten there twice before and enjoyed it. This time was a bad experience! No welcoming vibe fro bar staff. waitress and bar staff were very unfriendly and did not engage at all. Top this with being out of corned beef and cabbage at 5:00. Spoke with the owner who basically stated we shouldn't wait for more to be prepared. ordered my wife another drink and ordered wings, after 30 minutes no drink or wings, dropped cash on the table and left. if this is the best this establishment can do on probably the biggest day for an Irish pub, not sure how long they will remain in business! read more

Decent atmosphere, terrible service. Took 10mins for a waitress to take drink order. We waited 20 mins for our food to arrive after ordering it. Both my wife and I did not like the fries. They are frozen thin cheap fries. As a supposed Irish bar could at least spring for steak fries. Could not get my fork to pierce half of them thy were so hard. my wife and I arrived just after 7pm on st Patrick's day. We had to wait a few minutes before helped to find a table. the waitress welcomed us, cleaned the table, sat us down, and then disappeared. After 15 min, I had to go to the bar to get our drinks because the waitress never came back. The guinnness tap was not working. we had to ask for another waitress to come take our order. they had run out of corn beef. It has been another 20 minutes and we have not received our food. i have not been offered another drink in the place of a Guinness. on the busiest day for an Irish pub in the year, this was absolutely one of the worst I've been too. probably won't return. read more

Waited over an hour to receive our order on the evening of 10/5/2024 and when the order was brought out, the sandwiches were cold. While waiting, we had to ask for water that was ordered, twice. Had to ask again for beer that was ordered. When beer was brought it was sloshed onto the table. Our server had walked away so I asked the bartender for assistance to clean up the spill. She brought a container of napkins but was not willing to assist with the clean up until it was pointed out to her that she is an employee of the establishment. She reluctantly helped to clean up while complaining that she was not our server. This was our second visit to the pub. The first time was not too bad but if this evenings experience is what we can expect to receive on future visits, we will NOT be back and will let friends and family know it is not a good place to find a satisfying experience. read more

We also love to support our local business, but our experience was awful. The wait times are high but it is to be understood as it seems they are short staffed and I never fault for that, and to be honest I wouldn't be leaving a negative review if it wasn't for one particular employee, a dark haired older women who I assume is the manager or owner. While we were waiting she was behind the bar yelling profanities and complaining extremely loudly about other guests of the establishment, mind you this was during a 5pm visit and there were plenty of families with small children including ours . We just tried to ignore this as our waitress was quit pleasant. Our food wasn't terrible but wasn't great. However, our daughter actually really enjoyed her Fish n' Chips. My husband ordered the Ribeye, which comes with a side of mashed potatos and cheesy cauliflower and brocolli. When he ordered this he asked if there was a way to just get cheesey brocolli and was told that is fine and wasnt a problem, but when it came out it was just a bowl of brocolli so my husband asked for just the side of cheese to add it to it himself, which our waitress was very sweet and apologized for and went to retrieve it, but instead of her bringing him just a side of cheese a whole new order of cheesey cauliflower no brocolli was brought by the older dark haired women, which she then tossed down on the table and proceeded to scold and berate us about how that is the way it comes and we need to know it for future reference as she walked away from our table and around the bar screaming about it, all the other guest just stared at us. Again, we were never told by our waitress that the side item was a pre mixed frozen bag of cauliflower and brocolli. Otherwise, he would have never ordered it. The entire interaction was insanely unprovoked, unexpected, and outrageously unprofessional, and as she appeared to be the only manager we could not make a complaint and due to her highly aggressive, volger, and argumentative behavior we decided it was better to just pay our check leave, never recommended, or even return, which is very sad because we had such high hopes.
