Craft your own burger & Habanero BBQ Wings

It's been quite some time since I last ate at the Hibernian. I guess fate has its way of guiding us when hunger strikes. The wings were absolutely tasty and the burger was cooked to absolute perfection. You might say it's just a burger, but was your burger hand patted and seasoned to perfection? Exactly! So come down with a friend, grab a few drinks and enjoy the music. Ask for Justin he was great

This is one of our "Go To" places when the weather is great and we want to enjoy a pint! We love the rooftop deck with the jasmine and planters, and sunshine on a glorious NC day. The staff have always been super warm and welcoming, although sometimes service can be a wee bit slow. The Guinness is good and their Bloody Mary is pretty good. Occasional live music : ) We have eaten here several times and quite like the fish and chips.

Everything was great except that we waited for more than 10 minutes with an absentee hostess even though we were told three times that someone would be with us shortly. We were seated in the upstairs dinning room. Our waiter was great: attentive, great communicator, polite and friendly. We split ground beef nachos as an appetizer. They were delicious. I had Bangers and Mashed--one of the best I've had. They are served with three large onion rings. The restaurant is very well decorated with a library theme. The restaurant motif takes you back to the 1920s.

Hibernian has that perfect dim, moody glow with its red leather booths, bookcases stuffed with old novels, and Irish memorabilia tucked into every corner. It feels like stepping into a pub in Dublin. Cozy, intimate, and full of character. A perfect spot to unwind with a pint. My husband and I went for a date night. We shared the garlic shrimp app, I had the salmon entree and he had the bangers. For drinks a Guinness and Hugo spritz. Everything was yummy, the garlic shrimp a little overcooked but still great flavor. We saved room for dessert and I am glad we did. The cheesecake served warm was a true delight with ice cream. Paired with Irish coffee this is a must! Looking forward to another visit!!!!

Favorite dessert: Chocolate mousse.

Fish and Chips never disappoint. Good brews with fair prices. Attentive wait staff. Lovely atmosphere.

Our first night in the city and while we were walking, we popped into this lovely Irish pub to check out their balcony on the second floor. While there we happen to run into Keith one of the managers and had a delightful conversation with him! Because of that interaction it let us come back a few days later to actually enjoy a couple of beverages on the beautiful balcony. This location is very large with seating upstairs and downstairs, including bar, seating and balcony seating as well as plenty of tables for larger groups. Our drink of choice is always harp as we have a hard time finding it in our local stores so always enjoy having it fresh from the tap. We also experience the chicken wings With the Cajun rub. They were delicious.!

Overall I think that Hibernian is a good place to come have a pint and some food. It is designed like a traditional Irish Pub with dark woods paneling, floors and furniture, and even a fireplace as you enter. I ordered a Reuben, which is the standard in my opinion which all restaurants that serve a Reuben are judged for the other food. The sandwich itself was very good and came with steak fries. The service was pretty good as well. I guess the couple of things that took away the fifth star for me was the music which was just not good pub music and there was too much cheap advertising hanging on the walls. If you go to the trouble of making the place look like a real pub then don't clutter it up with cheesy ads.

I dropped by one afternoon to check out this new pub in North Raleigh and I was delighted to find…read morehow cozy it was and how hospitable and sweet the owners, Kevin and Stephanie, are. The decor in The Winchester Pub is unique in the fact that they don't have all the stereotypical, tacky beer signage that others have and the bar is completely handmade by Kevin himself (it's gorgeous). Their selection of beers on tap is primo -- you won't see any of the over-served blah beers of other bars. Instead, you'll find a finely curated selection that boasts a variety of tastes. If you're not into beer, there are also a few bottles of wine you can choose to have a glass of. There's a small selection of canned brews you can purchase from the display case in the front of the pub, back of the pub, and in the refrigerated unit in the rear, as well as cider, spiked coffee malt beverages, alcoholic seltzers, and beer kegs. Surprisingly, there's even some bagged coffee! If you fancy bringing some pub merch home, there are branded mugs for sale. Above the bar, there are mounted TV screens, perfect for enjoying local sports games (especially European soccer matches on the weekends). Plenty of backed barstools surround the bar, and there's a line of round, leather-topped stools along the back wall. If stools aren't your cup of tea, there are two cozy leather couches you can lounge on: one in the front (by the entrance) and one in the back (next to a pool table)! If you're not craving any booze, there's a water cooler in the front of the pub and canned sodas in the fridge (Sprite and Coke). If you're feeling playful, there are couple of board games on the one of the beer display shelves by the entrance (beneath the framed red jersey). I'm more of a cider kind of girl, so Kevin suggested a fantastic, locally-owned cider out of Pittsboro, NC: "Chatham Cider Works Highway 64". It was sweet, light, bubbly, and strong, especially at 10% ABV (so, watch out!). My husband and I both sampled the "Fullsteam Igor Cake" Pastry Stout (9% ABV), which was super sweet. Hubby ended up ordering the "Casita Home Sweet Home" Imperial Stout (10% ABV), which had a cake-like flavor, was super smooth, and not too sweet. No foods are currently served here, but there are some snacks for sale behind the bar and you are more than welcome to bring in your own noms to accompany any drinks your order. From the cooler, I bought and tried: - Brown Bomber Mocha Hard Latte - flavored malt beverage (5% ABV) made with 100% Arabica coffee and milk. It's recommended to shake well and serve over ice. It was soooo creamy, chocolatey, and delicious -- you can't even tell that there is alcohol in it! - Brown Bomber Vanilla Hard Latte - same as the previous, but vanilla-flavored - Sound Craft Rosé Seltzer (5% ABV) - super smooth and tasting of freshly pressed blackberries, I could not tell that there was alcohol in it! If you're looking for a cozy spot to throw back a pint as you unwind from work, you've found the perfect place!

Despite arriving over an hour before the match started, every seat at the bar was already taken. And there are no tables so if you aren't fortunate enough to get a bar seat, you're SOL. I saw one or two bar patrons eyeing me weirdly, like I was invading their home space. So I decided to just leave. Per the online menu, they do have over a dozen drafts available, but I didn't get to try any of them. So disappointing.

Located across from NC State's campus, it's the kind of spot where locals, students, alumni, and first-time visitors all seem to blend together naturally. What makes this place special isn't any one thing, it's everything. You can easily lose an entire afternoon here watching a game, having a few drinks, and talking with whoever happens to be sitting nearby. With its aged-brick facade and wonderful old-world decor, Mitch's could easily be mistaken for a historic tavern in Boston or Greenwich Village, but the institution has only been in business since 1974. Movie nerds will recognize Mitch's as the spot where Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins meet for beers in the baseball comedy 'Bull Durham,' while Wolfpack alum will likely remember it as the spot where they celebrated dozens of basketball wins, birthday bashes and end-of-semester parties during their time at NC State. The beer list is strong, the service terrific and the food delicious -- especially the famous Reuben sandwich. There's a story behind why I'm giving this bar 5 stars. My first experience here a few years back…read morewas so memorable that I'm probably bias, but I was just visiting Raleigh back then and wondered in here around 10pm on a Friday, found my way to the back patio and can recall to this day what I was thinking. "I think I'm starting to like this city...". The back patio that night had a vibe and look to it that I hadn't seen anywhere else in a long time; almost Austin-wierd/cool like. I ended up sitting next to a guy who was rolling his own cigarettes from a roll of Drum tobacco when I noticed he put raisins and dates in the package. We ended up talking about finer tobaccos and the art of roll your own (his experience) and my thoughts on cigars and pipe tobacco. It was a great first night in Raleigh. Now, 3 years into living here, I can say that it's lost a bit of that first impression charm but the raw ingredients are still there. The music is still awesome, the service is still very good, the patrons are equally as surprising from night to night. I would definitely call this a Raleigh staple and hope that your first time here was as good as mine.

I would say it definitely fits into the neighborhood and appears to be a popular local hangout. Even on a chilly day, the outdoor seating is very comfortable, feel free to take advantage of the propane heaters. The drinks are excellent, and the customer service is good, it's definitely a great place to stop for drinks. Cheers!
