My brother, son and I had dinner at Heath's tonight and we enjoyed our time there. The waitress,Sarah Grace, was so friendly, accommodating, and efficient. I had Calamari and French Onion soup which was delicious. I ordered an 8 Oz Ribeye, medium rare. When I cut into it, it was more well done, so when Sarah Grace asked if everything was fine, II told her. She immediately apologized, took my plate, and another lady came to apologize. I received a 10 oz steak, medium rare, and another order of asparagus. Delicious. Both ladies were very apologetic and accommodating. It makes a difference when you have an engaging, efficient, and understanding waitress. I appreciated their efforts to make my meal pleasant and enjoyable. read more

Well for a steak house I will say the prices are reasonable. I ordered my steak medium as you can see it is well done. I wanted to send it back but the services was so slow I didn't want to wait any longer. The taste was okay but just soooo over cooked. The salad bar was my side option. You can go to the salad bar as one side. I must say. Yes. That was probably the best part of the meal. Lots of fresh ingredients. The Mac and cheese was good but was nothing to write home about. I can only speak on my food. But everyone had an over cooked steak. I went with coworkers. And kind of shares the appetizer. Shrimp cocktail was wonderful. Big shrimp. Juicy. Fresh. Welp.... Haven't been here since having their Valentine's Day special. They supposedly have all month in July specials Wednesday thru Thursday. Thursday night was supposed to be 2 10 oz. Ribeyes, a side and salad bar for 2 for $60. 6 hours before dinner they decided to change it to prime ribs per Facebook, I Didn't see that on Facebook... I'm not on there often... supposedly Thursday night they decided to change it. My luck.... Plus our waitress.. had to ask her twice for everything. read more

Dined here this evening with my parents and was sadly disappointed. The two ribeyes we ordered medium rare turned out well done, not even close to medium rare. I informed our waitress and she offered to have them cooked again but we declined since we were so hungry and my dad's meal was ready. He ordered the crab cakes and they were underwhelming. The sweet potato fries were cold. The 5 (literally 5 tiny spears) asparagus that came with the steak were also overcooked. My dad ordered a mixed drink and the glass looked a third full. To top it off, our bill came out with a $3.99 credit card fee before we were even asked for our form of payment. Our waitress informed us it's a new fee by the new management. WTF? She did advise that if we pay cash the fee would come off. It will be a long time before I visit here again and I definitely wouldn't advise anyone else to eat here. read more

Heath's Steak House is a great local place to eat a quality steak or experience the salad bar of your dreams. I had never been here before, but will definitely return the next time I am in town. The parking lot area can be tricky, as it is on the smaller side and directly off of a main street in town with no sidewalk buffer, so be aware as you pull out directly into the road. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, but make sure you get there early as they can get busy. They have a mix of booths and tables, and they also have a separate room that could be good for large parties or receptions. The bathroom is at the front of the restaurant to the right of the entrance. We ate the prime rib, which was expertly prepared and came with one side and a trip to the salad bar. We also had the mahi with one side and a trip to the salad bar. I don't think I have ever seen a steak house with such an impressive salad bar. I would come back for just a trip to the salad bar it was that good. The mahi was a bit overcooked but still flavorful. All in all, this is a great place to stop if you are in the area. The ambiance is calm, the food is good, and you'll leave knowing you ate a quality meal. read more

In town for the Dreamville Festival and we stayed in Dunn. Did a quick google search and this place popped up. It closed for 9, and we walked in at 8. We asked to be seated at the bar(which was pretty nice). Our bartender was nice and tried to keep a good conversation going. This place gives you free rolls with a sweet butter which was pretty good. Most entrees you can get 2 sides or one side and a visit to the salad bar. My friend decided to do the salad bar and was very impressed. To say it was later when we went he said it was very clean and didn't look picked over. He enjoyed it. My other friend ordered the sweet and spicy shrimp as an appetizer. It tasted fine, but it just seems like they just dumped the sauce on the shrimp, some shrimp had a bunch of sauce and some didn't have any. One friend ordered a steak with grilled shrimp and the stuffed potato(they are known for) . His steak was cooked more medium than medium well, but he still enjoyed it. My other friend ordered the crab cake appetizer with a sweet potato. While the flavor of my friend's crab cake was good, it came out cold which was disappointing. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi(it came with corn and black beans) along with a baked potato and broccoli. I enjoyed my food. It had a good flavor and was very filling (couldn't finish everything). My in-laws parents (grandparents) live in Dunn, NC, and while we usually have meals at home when visiting, we decided to go out for a nice dinner. Dunn has limited upscale dining options, but Heath's came highly recommended by both locals and friends from nearby Benson. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a cute, welcoming atmosphere. We had a larger party, and service seemed a bit slow, possibly because of our group size. Unfortunately, my entree and the mozzarella stick appetizers were served at room temperature. However, the drinks were great--I really enjoyed the Moscow mule--and the overall experience was pleasant. Our waitress was very sweet, and the bar area looked inviting. Very disappointed in service tonight. We were seated at 5:30 pm. with friends for dinner. My husband steak wasn't cooked done enough and he sent it back to be cooked more. We finished our food around 6:30 and was finishing our drink when we were told that if we wanted to continue to talk we needed to move to the lobby because they had a reservation waiting. My experience here started on a not-so-great note when seated in the center of the restaurant at a table, my husband went and politely requested a booth instead (before we even got waters or anything so not much to move) and the host quickly came to our table and snatched the menus right out from under me and tossed them down on the new table and walked away, seemingly very irritated. It took several minutes to be greeted after that and many of the staff seemed flustered, running around the restaurant. Our waitress, though, was phenomenal, very attentive, knowledgeable and kind so she very much saved the evening in regards to my attitude toward this establishment because had it been based solely on the hostess, I would definitely not return. We ordered the fried green beans, which were exactly what we expected and were tasty. They were out of the 6oz filet so I had to be 8oz but it was cooked perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. The "stuffed" potato was interesting and a bit too cheesy for my taste, but wasn't bad overall. They serve Pepsi products here in case you're a Coca-Cola girl like me, just a heads up! Salad bar is one trip only with a very small salad plate & not bottomless like many other steakhouses offer but was a decent selection of options for salad toppings and dressings (although dressings are not labeled) The interior is a bit dated but overall nice and clean. read more

If you don't know it's there, you'll drive right past this wonderful steakhouse. It's located in a non- descript strip mall and has been around for quite a while, evidently. It's family owned, and they actually work in the restaurant. It's clean, the staff are friendly. The décor is homey and welcoming. You'll just love being in there and hanging out with family and friends while you have a meal. My favorite thing is that they're open Wednesday through Friday for lunches 11 to 2. They have a great selection of sandwiches with fries, chips, or a cup of soup. You may sub any side for the salad bar or French Onion soup for an upcharge. If you can't make it for lunch, they're open 4:30 - 9 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. They have wonderful fresh steaks cooked to order. They offer a limited selection of fish, both grilled or fried, a rotation of soups, and an excellent variety of starters. It's great to have a steakhouse of this caliber without having to drive to Raleigh or other big cities. Their fresh brewed iced tea is yummy. I'm an unsweetened iced tea drinker, and theirs is top-notch. Desserts are also delicious. I enjoy the chocolate lava cake with a glass of red wine, it's divine! read more

My boyfriend and I tried this steakhouse last night and we were impressed! The prices are reasonable, the waitstaff is great, and management checks on every table to make sure you're enjoying your meal. I ordered a Long Island iced tea to start and it was lacking alcohol. For a $12 drink, I expected more. But then I ordered the lemon drop martini and I was very happy. It tasted like a boozy lemon meringue pie! I ordered the King's filet with the salad bar and a baked potato. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib with grilled asparagus and a baked potato. His asparagus were sad; overcooked and the portion was tiny. I've read other complaints about the asparagus too. I would definitely advise against ordering it. The salad bar is amazing!!! It has everything you could possibly want on your salad, including lots of salad dressing options. I was so happy! You're only allowed 1 trip, so make sure to load up your little plate. Our meats were cooked perfectly and so were the potatoes. They also give you a complimentary bread basket. It was nice to have a steakhouse option closer to home. For the prices of the steaks I would not recommend this place. I had a better steak at the Lillington sports bar and grill. When we first arrived here the girl at cashier and the hostess were not very welcoming or friendly. Our waitress was great but I did not get her name. The salad bar had lots of options but the lettuce was not fresh had to pick out the brown pieces. The ranch was very watered down to where it had very little flavor. I ordered the surf n turf with shrimp. My steak was over cooked. My husbands pork chop was overcooked. The broccoli was not good. Really disappointed I've been trying to find good places to eat in this area and it seems you need to travel about 30-40 min outside of Lillington to find good food. read more

I really like this place. The Staff really cares about your dining experience with them. The steaks are on point. I'm a Ribeye Guy and they did not disappoint in that area. There isn't a lot of glitz and glamour but it is a very clean and kept resturant. The only thing I wish is you could go more than 1X to the Salad Bar. It's a little pricey but well worth it. Tried Heaths tonight and give the food a C. The Prime Rib lacked some major seasoning . Margarine was served as opposed to butter. The salad bar however was fantastic as well as the service. We don't live in the Dunn area but decided to try something new. We may sometime in the near future try it again for lunch. read more

Food is lacking in every way. Steaks are not cooked to the customer's request but rather to the line cook's idea of what he thinks the customer should eat. If you order medium rare, don't be surprised if you get a blackened, charred piece of leather and are then told that the cook knows better than you do about how your steak needs to be cooked. The waitress asked us to leave cause she said she had a party coming. We also had two disabled senior citizens. One with Alzheimer's and had to have to be assisted. We were among the first customers at the restaurant. We only been there for 35 minutes. They also coerced us to pay 20% tip which was in the bill. We are planning an interview with WRAL. We had 14 folks and paid dearly to be asked to leave cause a party was coming. Also the secondary dining room was shut down. Please help these folks to be more courteous. read more

My family recently moved into the area and celebrated our new home at Heath's last week...our server (unfortunately I didn't catch his name) was very professional, kind, and on top of things. We all enjoyed the salad bar as one side to our entrees which offered quite a variety and was very well stocked... My entree was the ribeye and it was perfectly cooked...excellent char with a nice medium rare inside... Everyone else enjoyed their dinners...from prime rib, to surf n turf, a 6oz lobster tail, and kid's chicken tenders...everything came out in a timely manner and was overall prepared very well. My dad tried the fried calamari app and he enjoyed it...nothing spectacular, but a straightforward app. The asparagus served w my steak wasn't very good in my opinion...very hard and brittle on the ends, and left too long on the grill... Other than that it was a nice meal...and priced accordingly... As far as higher end restaurants in the area I would suggest dining at Heath's for a tasty meal of good quality and excellent service. read more

Took my wife out for date night. It was a 30 min wait, we waited at the bar had some great drinks. The salad bar was amazing. I got the Prime Rib it was very good and my wife had the filet mignon and she loved it as well. We ended with Chocolate Cake which was amazing. Will be going back, the trip was well worth it. Went to Heath's Steak House, on a Friday, in early May 2023 with another couple. Here's the breakdown, but good and bad. First the good. We had a very short wait, even though it wa s prime time dinner time, on a Friday. The salad bar was filled with great, fresh choices of vegetables, fruits, dressings and different kinds of lettuce. Now, the bad. The place was jammed packed. Not so bad in itself, but coupled with the salad bar placement, there was no room to move around. I'm not sure how to resolve this standing-on-line waiting to get to the salad bar, but something really needs to be addressed. Even the wait staff had a hard time maneuvering, in the crowded walkways. I had the 18oz. bone-in ribeye, which was lacking on several levels. Realizing that a ribeye is a fatty cut of steak wasn't the problem, although I felt like there was more fat than usual. Another slightly annoying issue was that the plates are not heavy enough to keep from sliding on the tabletop. Maybe either heavier plates or a tablecloth would solve that issue. If we return to Heath's, it won't be on a Friday or Saturday night at 7. The restaurant just can't accommodate a relaxed atmosphere, at those times.. It was so, that that people, who were waiting on the salad bar line, were literally intruding into our dinner space. read more

Heath's has always been a good place to eat until recently. All we did was ask for a booth after they tried to sit us at a table by the entrance. It went downhill from there. It seemed that suddenly we were the target of poor service and a terribly cooked steak. My wife asked for a filet med rare to medium. It looked like a chunk of coal when the served it. Obviously to long on too hot of a fire. And I asked for a prime rib med rare. It was well past medium. They told me I didn't know what I was talking about, and their chef has 30 years' experience. Well, he didn't get this one right, that's for sure. They then kicked us out and basically said don't come back. We will not go there again. If you go out to eat on a date night, the experience is more than food and this disaster started because we wanted a booth. read more

We were a party of 4 that loves a great steak so we were anxious to try this place. It is a nice place with friendly staff. The menu is a bit pricey for a small town, we ordered 4 different steaks. The salad bar is nice with a lot of fruit options. The entrees were very disappointing. All 4 steaks were tough and had basic flavo, nothing great. The sweet potato fries were soggy, it was like eating mush. The baked potatoes were hard in the center. The Mac and cheese is better at Chik Fil A. I guess Yelpers are rarely wrong. One somewhat local Yelper said that the steak was hit and miss. When the guy at the front desk of the Hampton recommended this 3-star steak house, I wanted to take a chance with "hit." First, the atmosphere -- brown wood paneling and dark lighting do wonders to sadden your mood. The lady guarding the cash register and the door, I think, was the first victim of the atmosphere ... The salad bar was a bright spot. Beets, fresh okra, chunk cheddar, and homemade canned pears made for a happy salad. At the end of the salad bar was what looked like a fresh bread loaf for self-slicing in the dim lighting. Unfortunately I have to use the words "dry", "cold" and "hard" to give the bread justice. I is sad again. Now, the reason I came -- steak. I had a 9 oz NY strip cooked medium. It was juicy for the first bite, but became a chew toy as I progressed. At least the baked potato was - well - hot and baked. Steak was not worth the $22 -- and may not have been worth $14 for that matter.
