Who knew a great little Peruvian place was available in Benson, NC?!?! I stumbled on this place a few years ago, and have eaten here multiple times when I am in town on business. The folks who run it are super friendly, and take great care of me. I've tried a variety of dishes and have always been pleased. Today I had a seafood stew with shrimp and rice and a fried egg on top, it was fantastic!! Like nothing I've ever had before. Been a while since I have been in the Benton area during business hours. I made a special trip from Smithfield just to eat here. It's that good. This is a small brightly lit exceptionally clean family owned business. The folks are so sweet and the food is so good. Portions are huge. I was unable to eat all mine. I failed to use the correct names on everything. I haven't had anything bad here. The purple corn drink is delicious. Not sure what all is in it but wow. I was unable to have their purple corn pudding. Just too full but it was delicious last trip. Really need someone to split it with or a nice afternoon nap to recover. She also makes some of the most beautiful cakes and baked goods I have ever seen. Gabriella's is such a great break from The traditional Tex/mex. We just moved up from Tampa Bay two months ago and were worried we would have few if any options for Latin American food. Discovering Gabriella's in Benson of all place was a huge win. I fell in love with Peruvian food many years ago and Tampa has a wealth of great Peruvian restaurants. Well, Gabriella's could compete with any of them. The restaurant is located in a kind of out of the way corner of a retail area. But, it has plenty of parking and is well worth discovering. The atmosphere is simple and comfortable. The service very friendly and attentive. The owner herself waited on us and was very lovely. When she discovered we knew and love Peruvian food she was so enthusiastic it made us feel very welcome. The one item their menu misses, Peruvian rotisserie chicken, was no loss since there are tons of options for that in the area. What they do have is a list of traditional Peruvian dishes not found in the chicken franchises. We started with the ceviche, which was the authentic Peruvian preparation with fresh fish marinated in a perfectly balanced citrus sauce. The standard accompaniment of sweet potato and Peruvian corn was perfect. For our entrees we had Lomo Saltado, beef sautéed with peppers and onions served on rice and french fries, and Tallarin Saltado Con Carne, sautéed beef served with noodles. Everything was incredibly delicious. The prices are very reasonable, the food delicious, and the service warm and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

Delicious dinner tonight! I had Arroz Chaufa that was so light and refreshing with delicate ginger and scallion. I added shrimp for a perfect meal. My son had the Seafood Platter which had an amazing assortment of fish, shrimp and I had never seen fried mussels in the shell but they were incredible! Heading north on I-95, we found Gabriella's based on Yelp reviews. I had high expectations from the 5-star reviews, and we were still 'wowed'. The service was attentive and quick, and the food was amazing. The ingredients are so fresh, and all is homemade and rich with flavor (fresh meat and fish, herbs, spice, lime). My husband had Bistec a Lo Probre (steak) and I had the Parihuela (Peruvian fish stew). I'll be pining for it once I'm back home. The servings are so large I took half my Parihuela home! Note the food is as beautiful and appetizing as the menu photos display. read more

Happen to be in Dunn to drop of a VW Westfalia Camper for some restoration services and my wife found Gabriella's on Yelp. I am super happy she did. We tried the pick 3 option from the menu and got to sample their dishes. Awesome flavors, huge portions and warm service. As other reviewers have said, it's an old pizza place, you are not here for decor, you are here for really good food. The service will be slow if they have more than 4-5 tables, but be patient. We were staying in Benson. I must eat gluten free and looked for restaurants that could accommodate me. I read the wonderful reviews of Gabriela's. I love Peruvian food and the menu looked great. Am I glad we ate there. The food is delicious. It's cooked to order and you can taste the love. I had chaufa as they carry gluten free soy sauce. I used the green sauce instead of ranch which was a lovely accompaniment. My companion had the roast chaufa. Portions were oversized leaving a bit to enjoy later. Ok, ok the value is here, I was wrong. I wanted to come back and give them another try so first we tried the caramel filled cookies and cheesecake. Both were fresh and delicious! So I tried their beef saltano and chocolate cake. It was very good. The beef though a bit chewy, NOT dry, had excellent flavor. Absolutely incredible food! Authentic, impeccable, delicious and memorable. We stopped by on a long trip through the east coast, and are planning ways to get back to order more of their incredible food. We had the pot roast with potatoes, and it reminded me immediately of my grandmother's! You can tell that this family creates divine cuisine with their recipes, as every detail is delicious. The rice pudding was perfect, and the butternut squash doughnuts were so good that my husband finished all of them. The owners and family were thoughtful and welcoming, all while being genius chefs. We definitely have marked this place on our MUST STOP list for restaurants near i95. Benson is far so their customers are local, also the charge of $0.25 for tap water is ridiculous, is not the amount of charges, but my kids understand Spanish and for your staff talking in the back about your customers and saying about complaining about $0.25 cents, was not accurate, it was more like a surprise since our knowledge of restaurants are large, most restaurants don't charge you for tap water, maybe for the bottle of water but not for pouring water in a foam cup. First, we lived in Bolivia and Ecuador, traveled several times to Peru so the food at Gabriella's is the real deal. Stopped coming back from the beach because of the good reviews. Husband and wife are both from Peru. It was cold and rainy so we both decided on soup. I had Chupe de Camerones. All south american soups are hardy. The Chupe was full of shrimp, rice, vegetables, cheese, choclo (peruvian corn) and an egg. Big portion was more than I could eat. My wife had chicken soup, Sopa de pollo. It was also hardy, like a stew. Also more than she could eat. All was well seasoned with aji, mild peruvian peppers so everything had a great flavor. Definitely going back to try some other dishes. Excellent Peruvian, in an unexpected find in a little Mall in Benson, NC Chef does inspired, creative, superlative work. Shrimp Ceviche is not on the Menu, but it was simply outstanding! Just the right amount of citrusy, oniony spice. The Papa Causa was a real work of art!! Beautiful presentation!! The Green Banana Tostones were huge, and perfectly cooked. You can judge Peruvian by the quality of their rotisserie chicken, and this one did not disappoint. Plump, juicy, perfectly seasoned with both the green Peruvian chili and "Amarillo" yellow chili sauce on the side. Their "Bistec a Lo Pobre", the Poor Man's Steak, was anything but.
