Stop by on a Saturday between 11 -2 and grab a bbq platter. It's enough for 2 and WOOOOW some of the best brisket I've had in a while. Dawn the " bartender " and one of the owners is the SWEETEST man alive. He'll meet you once and remember your name and what ya drink! The history tied to this building is rich and you'll have plenty to look at while you're inside.

Cele Store is set in a terrific location on the outskirts of Austin. Though, Austin has grown exponentially over the years, you still feel like you're escaping the masses when you head out to Manor for some BBQ at Cele. Amazing BBQ, atmosphere is historic and quaint. Recommend with 5 stars and two thumbs up!

This one's gonna have a special place in our hearts. Went there for Saturday lunch. Our 4-year-old thought we were going to a haunted abandoned building, which upped the cool factor for him significantly. Warmly greeted by the owner, Don, and our lovely waitress. We ordered bottled beers and when you order water, that comes in a bottle, too. Took a while to take in the whole ambiance ... It's just one of those really cool, authentic places that you hope to stumble upon a few times in your life. Nothing pretentious here, no siree. Ordered two three-meat plates -- ribs, beef and sausage -- for $15 apiece. There's no menu -- you just get the lowdown from the waitress. It was more than enough for our family and everything was exactly as delicious as everyone says. After our meal, Don treated our son to a frozen ice cream and gave us a tour of the place. The pit is the real deal, seasoned from years and years of use. I can't wait to return and bring some friends, especially on a Friday to get the full experience.

Amazing food. Found this place by accident and will definitely be back! I took my food to go so i didn't take any pics of it. But I did take photos of the interior.

This was a set for the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. [ Down in Bastrop, the original 1974 Gas Station was not available. Also, the original 1974 Round Rock house was moved in 1998 to Kingsland, TX, now an American eatery "Grand Central Cafe" ] Besides TCM 2003, the Cele Store has been used by Clint Eastwood & a few others for movie scenes. Now It is a Thurs thru Sat pit bbq eatery / bar with live country music as scheduled. No sides, I would guess they are building this up incrementally without extra staff for now. I came down here not knowing their limited schedule...So... I found my way over to Bastrop, the original Gas Station from 1974 TCM is rocking as "We Slaughter BBQ" and it is actually quite good, but a bit small menu but good at what they do. You can get regular, or No Excuses Spicy. And, plenty of TCM merchandise on hand. There are rental bungalows too. ( sorry for rant, just clarifying TCM places )

Just a brisket and sausage plate yummy!!

I felt at home, when you get served but he owner and encouraged to discuss whatever's on the brian....laugh a little, watch the basketball game and talk about the good old days. Really a monumental experience.

You gotta call ahead to tell 'em you're coming and they don't take credit cards. The floor slopes downhill, most likely leading to spilt iced tea in your lap and you can feel the history of Texas in this place. For all of these reasons, Cele's Store is a little-known Texas BBQ legend. It's not as flashy or well-known as some of it's cousins like Salt Lick and the Lockhart Trinity, but it deserves it's own place in the Central Texas BBQ hall of fame. Here's how it works: you call ahead and tell 'em how many are coming and they do the rest. You basically get brisket, sausage, ribs, white bread, onions, jalapenos, pickles, and cheese wrapped in butcher paper. If you want sides, you gotta bring 'em yourself and they actually encourage it. The meat was just fine all the way around, especially the beef ribs (usually not one of my favorites). The dry rub they use is like a coating of heaven on a cow. When it was all said and done, we gorged ourselves on this fine cuisine and had a glass of iced tea for about $10 a person. You can't beat that with a stick. One more thing... if you've ever seen the movie "Secondhand Lions" with Robert Duvall then you've seen Cele's Store! It's the setting of the fight between Robert Duvall's character and some local ruffians. Don't miss it!

My cousins Wade and Janet took us to this very special restaurant. It was unlike anything I have every experienced. To get here you may actually need someone local and familiar with Cele's to take you. Whatever you have to do, get here and enjoy this fantastic food and unique eating experience. It's BBQ simple, nothing to get in the way of your enjoyment. This is the best BBQ I have ever had. Fantastic Wayde and Janet, thanks for taking us, fantastic!!

If you can find it, ....you won't regret it!

First time I've been there on Saturday... Good crowd... First time I ate there was on a Friday afternoon... And was the best barbecue I've ever had... Today was also the best barbecue I've ever had... Being a native Texan I know my barbecue and Cele is a must to go have dinner or lunch. Be sure and call ahead of time to check hours... Or make sure they are still serving lunch... Today "Saturday" we got there at 2 PM and they were still serving lunch until three.... Very cool atmosphere... Can't wait to take some my friends from out of town there... Very Texas very laid-back lots of fun... There is a good ole Texas bar You can sit and watch the game or have a cold beer!!! Be sure and use your GPS getting there ...its a little tricky... Had no idea where Cele Texas was and I grew up in Austin my entire life... :-). Once again excellent BBQ!!!

Ordered two sliced brisket plates and a chopped brisket sandwich plate. Got the food to-go and headed to the house. I was SO disappointed with just about everything. MIL thought the sandwich was good, but she didn't get her coleslaw side. Wife's meat was good, but her coleslaw (and mine) wasn't goof. Very vinegary and not creamy at all like I'm used to for coleslaw. My brisket, however was horrible. It was more fat than meat and I couldn't eat it it was so fatty. In addition to the coleslaw, the green beans I got was in desperate need of salt. Really disappointed overall. Maybe it was an off day or something, but just wasn't worth it imo.

Came through on a Thursday evening after a long day of twrk. Place was busy when we swung by, but the line moved quickly and I had my food in no time. Plenty of space to sit too, so I ended up sticking around to watch some football while destroying my plate~ Inside/Outside - 5/5 This is exactly the kind of BBQ joint I want. Lots of space, plenty of people coming and going, and just a lively atmosphere overall. Even though it was busy, I never felt like I was fighting for space or waiting forever. Not too loud but good energy. Grabbed my food, found a spot, and stayed awhile to watch football. Can't complain. Customer Service - 5/5 Customer service was astounding. Everyone was friendly and moved things along quickly despite how busy it was. Each person took their time to greet customers. I got the tater tot casserole and apparently ended up with a portion that had a little too much cheese. Their solution? Give me some extra tots to balance everything out. That's what I call problem solving~ Food - 5/5 I got the Two Meat Plate with brisket and pork rib, along with brussel sprouts and tater tot casserole for my sides. The brisket - good lawrdt! So tender it melted in my mouth. Both the brisket and pork rib were seasoned incredibly well and had plenty of flavor without needing to drown anything in sauce. The sides didn't disappoint either. Brussel sprouts were delicious with a nice tangy sweetness and the tater tot casserole was cheesy, hearty, and filling. And as mentioned above, the extra tots certainly didn't hurt! Portions were massive. I probably could have turned what I didn't finish into two additional meals, but my stomach was telling me to keep going while my brain was begging me to stop. Years later and after trying plenty of BBQ spots, Stiles still holds the throne for me in Austin. TL;DR - Overall: 5/5 - Still my favorite BBQ spot in Austin! - Busy but got my food quickly and room to sit with my friends - Plenty of space to hang out - Stayed to watch some good ol' Thursday night football - Awesome customer service + bonus tots! - Brisket was melt-in-your-mouth delicious - Tater tot casserole and brussel sprouts were solid sides - HUGE portions. The weather was unbearably hot which also affected our visit because we couldn't eat outside. The issue: The dining room is small and can only hold so many people. We ordered quickly and the food was ready almost immediately. But we had no where to sit! So we stood there with food in hand (kinda in the way of the workers and other patrons) waiting for people to vacate. Part of the problem was there were two tables occupied without any food and they were just talking. At other places, this is awesome. But a place with limited seating: nope! So our food was cold and the grits congealed while we waited to sit down. The service: all of the staff we interacted with were kind, friendly, and helpful. They were a highlight of our visit. The sides: We had the Green Chili Grits and the Potato Salad. Both were excellent but the potato salad was maybe the best I've ever had. For me, it was perfection because it wasn't too "wet" and the dill was just a fantastic add. The meats: We had the beef brisket and the sausage. Both were very good. I preferred the sausage but maybe just got a less than perfect piece of the brisket. The parking: also not great. There is street parking but also a back lot they direct you to off of Springdale. But they don't really have a safe/marked path to get you to the building. Just loose gravel where you're at risk of an ankle sprain. Maybe they will consider expanding the inside space? That would really help. I'd still come back because the food was really fantastic, but only for take out where I wouldn't have to deal with parking or finding/waiting for a table.

The pulled duck was an absolute showstopper. It was incredibly moist and tender that it basically melted like butter when I ate it. And with the chicharrón, it was absolutely excellent. I actually cried. Don't judge me but I literally cried. - Sliced Brisket: Your run of the mill brisket with both moist and dry portions. Not a standout by any means but still great. - Pimento Mac and Cheese: MUST TRY! My favorite side and one that I am now recommending to anyone that will let me tap about it. The creaminess of the cheese sauce was perfectly balanced with an explosion of robust creole flavors. I actually think it might be the best in the city. - Cream Corn Maque Choux: A nice soulful blend of that creole based seasoning that is a nice answer/touch away from terry blacks sweet cream corn. Highly recommend. Other Things to Know - They have two sauces that you can try. I recommend their tabasco vinegar red sauce which they say they make with a strawberry purée. The creole mustard is good but the red sauce is so unique and flavorful. - The pickles are also a really surprising stand out as well. If you are a pickle lover, you will absolutely adore these. Service/Experince - Parish runs a food truck that runs outside of Austin Beerworks back area. - Something to consider is that it did not have an awning when we first came here and during the Austin summer that was a big deal. We could t stay outside for more than 4-5 minutes but luckily the buzzers they give you can reach the inside of the Beerworks. - The staff was extremely friendly and were willing to chat through all of the different ways they make their food, sauces and etc. I really appreciated their kindness as I talked their ear off about food in Austin haha. - The area where the trailer sits was under construction when we first went so it was a little dusty with construction signs everywhere, but that never deterred me from a good meal!! Earlier in January they posted on social media how they were struggling, and again last spring. At the start of August, the Brotherton's family announced Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pflugerville was shuttering for good at the end of August. Knowing this would be the last time I would be able to try it, my buddy and I took an extended lunch break on a Friday to give it a shot. Upon arrival at just around 11:50, we noticed that the parking lot was packed with multiple food trucks and other businesses filling the shopping center. We got lucky with a parking spot far away as we marched inside to wait in line. On the door lay plenty of stickers from different BBQ joints from Texas and beyond, with even some coming from overseas. The line moved slowly but surely, and as we got to the front we got our three-meat plate with a bonus slice of turkey for good measure. We ended up getting to Brotherton's at the perfect time because we got the final slices of brisket on that glorious Friday. I'll share my thoughts on everything we tried: Brisket: Though it looked like a great cut that was nicely seasoned, it was pretty fine overall. Nothing remarkable about their brisket while still very fatty. Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage: Juicy, cheesy, not really too spicy on the jalapeño side of things, but that might just be from the mildness of jalapeños these days. Pork Ribs: These suckers looked incredible from the pictures I saw online and on social media, but they were kinda disappointing based on how incredible they looked visually. They were good, just not as epic as I was hoping. Turkey: Turkey is underrated in the BBQ scene, and this is no exception. A nice cut of meat! Cornbread Casserole: I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. Green Chili Mac and Cheese: I'll repeat myself. I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. As a whole, I'm very glad I gave them a shot before I would never be able to again. That's the hardest part about Texas barbecue. The best places and the historic spots can drop in a moment's notice when hardships hit or the meat prices skyrocket. Sadly, I can tell that they're already at the end of their rope with certain menu options like the loaded nachos and baked potatoes, which always seem like the sign of the end. And with how the food was simply just decent overall, it's hard to justify the rising prices. I see reviews all over saying their quality has fallen off year after year following JMFB's passing, and it makes sense: he was the heart and the soul of the business. When that vaporizes overnight, it's only a matter of time. I don't wish for the downfall of any spot, but I understand that it's bound to happen to certain ones.
