Stopped here on our way home coming from Cherokee. We didn't have a reservation so we ended up in the outdoor seating area. Our server made a point to focus his attention to my boyfriend which I found quite odd. Perhaps that is the vibe here? Not sure. The tomato soup was absolutely amazing! We split a bowl, but I could have easily eaten it alone. The mushroom toast was also different yet delicious. I'm not sure if they seat people without reservations but I'd definitely recommend having one. Even though it's a a "tavern", it's family friendly, which I would expect at a touristy spot. There are a few tvs for those wanting to enjoy a drink and a game, but the tvs are small. My extended family of 9 had a 4pm reservation the day after Christmas and didn't pay and leave until 5:30, cutting it close for our 6pm tour of the Biltmore House. Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant but the kitchen was slow. Our family had a regular burger (comes with double patties), a pork burger, fish and chips, shepherds pie, chicken wings with buffalo sauce, and a couple of kids meals (corn pups and grilled chicken tenders). Everyone enjoyed their burgers although there were some complaints of the buns being too crispy. My husband said the fish and chips weren't that great. I personally enjoyed their shepherds pie although it could've used more lamb. My son liked his chicken wings but it's barely dressed with the buffalo sauce, we had to ask for a side cup. Absolutely loved this place! Of course we found it while staying at the village hotel but the food was delicious! I got the pub burger which was 10/10 and if I'm not mistaken a lot of the ingredients are grown on the estate. My girlfriend got the lobster roll which was pretty pricey but still very delicious and filling nonetheless. For anyone into Old Fashioned's I highly recommend the Biltmore Cardamom Old Fashioned. We ate lunch here on our second day at Biltmore. It was our favorite restaurant on the property. My son loved the fact it was themed after the Biltmore pet. Our waitress was really good. She made excellent recommendations and answered our questions. We started with the pretzel rolls. They were delicious and we enjoyed the mustard butter it came with. My son dropped one of the rolls and the waitress was sweet enough to bring him a replacement. Their menu is seasonal so I was able to enjoy a spring pasta dish. The pasta dish was amazing and I was glad I added Scottish salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked and had a crisp crust. My son loved the cheeseburger and fries. They brought him a brownie and ice cream since it was his birthday. The dessert was also really good. I got the fish and chips, the fish was good but the fries were soggy and/or greasy from the fish on top. The restaurant itself had an "Old School feel" as someone mentioned, but I felt it was just old in need of a refresher. The service was good, but did not stand out. It's always tricky when reviewing places located in a tourist attraction...you are limited in choices and it's difficult to find an exceptional meal. In a hot day having a cool tavern is a welcome oasis from the humid and searing heat. Cedric is a perfect example of what a comfortable and inviting place to rest and enjoy a good meal. We weren't quite peckish but wanted to taste their fare so we decided to order their appetizers. The calamari and wings were great! The pale and ginger ale drinks were wonderful in relieving the thirst after a long morning walking around the village and the Biltmore estate grounds. Cedric's Tavern is in a cute area of the Biltmore property called the Antler Hill Village and Winery. It has a good size outdoor seating area, inside, and nice size bar. It was packed, so we had a 30 minute wait. Our server Tom was great. We had some wins, some misses, and some flat out losses. First up they brought 4 waters and there was about 4 ice cubes in each. I don't understand why restaurants are getting so greedy with the ice! (Loss). Next up the jar of pickles came. Best fresh house made pickles I've had. Crunchy. Vinegary and full of flavor. (Win). Next up our cauliflower with beer cheese. It was served cold. Under seasoned and hardly any of the cheese sauce. (Miss). A runner brought us a bowl of the beer and bacon almonds. We hadn't ordered them but since she had set them down she left them. Salty with a touch of sweetness. (Win). Our final app was the baked Brie. Described as mini baked Brie until bubbling... our Brie was the opposite of bubbling, it was cold. And the crostinis were also cold, not buttery or toasted and borderline stale. The cranberry pistachio compote was good. (Loss). The last of the food that I had was the pork burger. Something I've never had before and would never make at home. It was described as a blend of estate-raised pork, bacon and roasted garlic, topped with Irish Cheddar, Guinness mayo, sauteed sweet onions, and pickle chips, served with a side of Tavern chips. The tavern chips were ice cold. And had zero salt on them. I don't know if all of our cold food was the chefs fault, the expediter, or the runner but it was an issue. An issue that we didn't complain about so shame on us for not speaking up. The pork burger was good. Seasoned, warm, and served on a buttery toasted bun with a good amount of the Guinness mayo. I did pull almost all of the sautéed sweet onions off because there was too many. (Overall plate was a win/miss). Feedback from my friend's on their food: Pub Burger, awesome. fish and chip; fish was greasy but fries with malt vinegar was good. Wedge salad good minus the cherry tomatoes. (It's not tomato season yet). My Oh George cocktail was Crown Royal, Grand Marnier, and ginger ale. It was a good sipping cocktail. Overall it's a nice spot inside the Biltmore property to dine. Tim/Tom (apologies) was always one move ahead of our needs; we made it a point to compliment him. Cedric's Tavern's bar food well reflects the atmosphere, Biltmore vibe, and price point. The ONLY thing we'll ask for is more sauce on the Sloppy Joe. Burgers, Fish and Chips, and other bar food options (as well as plate presentations) were exactly what you'd expect at this style tavern. I Love me some fish and chips and have eaten then in London England which is supposed to be the best, well Cedric's has it going on with their Fish & Chips, great drinks , great service and a great atmosphere, just as you would expect from Biltmore. read more

After visiting the Biltmore Estate on a rainy day, my folks and I thought about getting lunch somewhere in the village part of the grounds, versus a restaurant in Asheville. Prior to our visit, my mom looked up restaurants and we all were interested in the menu at Cedric's Tavern. (Named after the Biltmore's dog.) There is parking in the surface lots by the village - usually it's not too much trouble to find a spot if you go during a non-peak period. The restaurant does walk-ins and reservations, the latter is preferred. We did notice prior to our Biltmore visit that reservations can book up in advance, so I suggest grabbing one once you see one. The day of our visit, we did a walk-in but the hostess took it down as a last minute reservation where she said she could see if she could squeeze us in. The wait was no more than 3 minutes and the three of us were seated quickly. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive when checking on our table and her others in the area. All of us ordered the fish and chips, which took about 10-12 minutes to come out, along with the pretzels for an appetizer. The pretzels were hot and fresh - they went fast after they arrived at the table. The fish and chips arrived a bit after that and we had to separate out the fish into smaller bites so it could cool down. They give you a good sized piece of fish for your meal and plenty of French fries. Fish was cooked well and the coating was crispy and seasoned well. (Not too salty or overbearing in other flavors.) Fries were good as well. The restaurant is mid-price I would say. You will find a range of prices on the dishes, but most of them are reasonable for a good meal out that isn't a dress code fancy dinner. read more
