Specials for the day

If you go for drinks, sports, pool, or darts, then Village Pub is fantastic. It's a surprisingly big space with a great selection of drinks, and so many television screens. If you go for food, you might be disappointed. Everything is essentially bar food (frozen then fried). I personally liked the French fries, but my wife couldn't eat hers because they were soggy and not warm enough. The chicken sandwich went mostly uneaten; the patty was small, it seemed like it was previously frozen, and "just didn't taste good". For me, the biggest offender was the corn chowder, which was I think a special of the day. The ingredients tasted canned, which for the most part was okay. But something was going on with the cheese in the chowder-- every bite I took had a half dozen strings of cheese dangling into the soup, and it's hard to describe, but it seemed odd and super unappetizing. I left most of it uneaten. If they had made the exact same items from fresh ingredients, it would've been so dang good. I should mention, our server was great. She was super friendly and helpful! She pointed us to the upstairs area, where we played pool and darts for like an hour while watching The Sound of Music on TV. It was great. So, we like Village Pub. I don't know if we'll go back for food, but it's definitely a good spot for drinks, sports on TV, and pool/darts.

Fish n chips

Yesterday a friend and myself decided to try Village Pub because we were in the area and had seen reviews of the place. The minute we walked in, we felt an air of friendliness and a delightful atmosphere abounded. Service was prompt, but gave us plenty of time to review the menu. Lots of pub fare- burgers, wings, salads, sandwiches, etc. Because I'm a fan of fish and chips and they indicated that the fish was white fish, I decided to go for "Swannanoa Fish and Chip" plate. It came out looking plentiful, hot, and delicious tasting! The fish had just the right amount of seasoned batter, and the crunch was perfect! The chips were awesome tasting, fried to a tender crispness that was satisfying. It was a good choice. The only addition I'd add would be some coleslaw. I'd give this meal a great rating, as well as the service and atmosphere! I'll try it again, for sure!

Great outdoor area with indoor outdoor bar seating! Fun!

Large pub and restaurant with quaint outdoor seating and huge indoor seating arrangements, including large bar area and multiple large televisions throughout the establishment. Service was excellent and food was served hot and in a timely manner. Large beer selections and food choices.

Great space if you're hanging out with a group of friends or co-workers. The long patio seating area and outdoor tables are especially good for that when the weather is nice. Decent draft beer selection (although heavy on IPAs). Food is pretty standard pub fare at average Asheville prices, but the fries are really good (coating is what makes them note worthy). Smashed chicken sandwich and Village Burger (double burger) both were good. Service is good. Would go back.

Main inside bar area

We stayed in the Biltmore area of Asheville and found this outstanding sports bar just across the way from our hotel. TV's all over the place with multiple games going. The place is super clean, the service is excellent and the food is good. Standard bar food with a solid selection of craft beers. Highly recommended!

We had a great meal at Village Pub. We both had different burgers, which they have quite a few to choose from. Loved the open air inside when the sun was beating outside! Didn't get a picture of them but I loved the fries and Dad sauce.

Mike Fitch from Salem Ohio stopped in and will definitely be back here.

Will not go there again. Should have stayed at Hillmans. Bartenders were awful. Go to Hillmans where you are treated well!

It's good; pricey for what it is. Definitely a tourist location making money off the Biltmore name.

Sadly, they weren't busy at all, but we really liked the "funky" vibe and the large covered outdoor seating area they offered. We ordered drinks and food at the bar and then grabbed a high top outside. Since I like cucumber water, I ordered the Coolcumber - a golden ale brewed with cucumber, juniper, & basil. It was delicious and refreshing. For dinner, we ordered the Kale Caesar Salad and Mortadella Pizza (formerly the Bologna Pizza...or vice versa). Both the salad and pizza were generously portioned and perfect for two of us to share. Let's start with the salad. O.M.G. It is one of the best kale salads -- if not THE best kale salad -- I've ever had. They took care to massage the leaves with the dressing to make them very tender, then it was topped with a mound of shredded Parmesan cheese. So incredibly tasty. If you've ever turned your nose up at kale, this will change your mind. Next up was the Mortadella/Bologna pizza. It was wood-fired to char the crust and then covered in sauce, mozzarella, mortadella, stracciatella, and pistachio pesto. Having recently been to Italy, these were all ingredients I was still craving. It was delicious. The food was crave-worthy. The drink menu is extensive. The staff was all really friendly and welcoming. And the atmosphere was awesomely funky. I'd definitely return.

They have a nice outdoor seating area, some of it covered. We will continue to come here!

Being that I was dining alone, I decided to sit at the bar. From a corner of the bar, I had a clear view of the small stage where the band was performing. It seems like so many restaurants, bars and pubs in Asheville have local music, and this place definitely did not disappoint. The food was great. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the house-made buttermilk biscuit and cheddar stone-ground grits were delicious. The service was the only factor that kept me from giving a 5 star review. When I sat down at the bar, it took awhile for someone to greet me and take my order. After my order was taken, I waited a long time for the food. I was very excited to have lunch there! Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant service experience and this is on what I'm basing my review. The beer was fine and the environment of the restaurant was good. My husband and I parked nearby and, unfortunately, on the very short walk to the restaurant, our 7 months old puppy got scared from two revving motorcycles. So when we got to the brewery the puppy was shaking ...we sat in a quiet section outside in the corner and the puppy hid under the chair and curled up, still shaking. Our waiter came and was very animated, talking in a very loud voice. There was absolutely nobody else in our section and it was very quiet, there was no reason to shout. I asked him very politely if he could please lower his voice because the puppy is scared already. There were a lot of humane ways in which he could have responded. Instead, he chose a weird response - no, he can't lower his voice, because "there will be a lot of people here, this place fills out, and my loud voice is needed for the customers". What? We would be long gone by then. I didn't understand how this applied to us. Then he proceeded to say that, actually, since there were two recent bite accidents at the restaurant, he's now afraid of dogs and would like us to move "downstairs". I showed him the shaking curled up 7 month old puppy under the chair, who was also on a short leash strapped around my waist, and told him that there was no way he was at any risk of being bitten. Not to mention the puppy was a good distance from him and would t have been able to reach him. So he said ok and we stayed there. This interaction right away left me lose interest in a full lunch, so we looked at the beers. As we were trying to pick, the waiter started telling my husband "Just pick and if you don't like it, piss it on the floor, I'll take it off the bill and give you another! I don't care! I'm not paying! The people whose name is written over there (pointing to the door) are paying". He continued repeating versions of that as we picked beer. At that time I realized there was an odor of marihuana in the air and I believe it came from him as it got stronger when he approached and disappeared when he got away. As he brought our beers, I asked him "what did you say is your name?" He responded, "I didn't give you my name and I wouldn't. It's 2026 and anyone can quickly find anything about you from your name" I was trying to be friendly after our initial spat over the voice but he wasn't having it. He walked away. We finished our beers and fries, got the check and left. On the bill, I saw the name Matthew H. listed The interactions with the waiter left us with a negative overall experience. He was paranoid, erratic and I did not feel comfortable to stay for a full lunch as we had planned. I had originally written a version of this review which lacked all the details and which had stronger wording. There was a complaint about the review (I assume from the restaurant) so I removed it and I'm replacing it with this one which states the facts. This was our experience and I didn't like it.
