I love the vibe of West Asheville and this is definitely a cool spot. Neighborhood bar feel with plenty of seating, some seats that face the street and it's really cool with the windows open. Also some seating on the back patio. Food is a great price and is pretty good. There is parking in the back lot, for an hourly fee.

Chicken philly with sweet potato waffle fries (front) and black-n-blue burger with pub fries (back). Paired with beers from All 7s.

If you've ever been to neighborhood pubs in Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal in Canada in the summer, this place reminds me of those. Love the roll up at the front so the place is open in nice weather and you can and sit and watch the world go by as you eat and enjoy a beer. Also a small back patio. Nothing fancy, but solid service and great pub grub. We had fantastic beers (a Hefeweizen and a Porter) from the adjoining All Sevens Brewery, but they also feature beers from other local breweries, as well as cocktails. The vibe is divey, but in the way that makes places in West Asheville fun, comfortable places to hang out, eat and drink. They are open from mid-morning to late at night. We went for lunch. We had the chicken philly and the black-n-blue burger, with half orders of regular pub fries and sweet potato waffle fries. I like philly sandwiches, but often the hoagie rolls are way too soft and they soak up all the juices and get mushy. Here the hoagie was more baguette-like, firmer and with some nice saltiness. There was plenty of chicken, onions and green & red peppers, covered with very tasty white American melted cheese inside. The burger was super thick, cooked well and very good paired with the blue cheese. We added jalapenos for some kick. The pub fries were excellent and the sweet potato waffle fries were good, too. Very good pub food overall. Filling, but not at all greasy. Definitely a place to revisit!

Westbille Pub is a great spot to grab a local brew & some late night munchies! The fries and hand cut & delicious. The chicken fingers were panko breaded & tender. We chose the sweet potato savory waffle fries for our third choice & they were yummy! This is a great place to go with a big group of friends, on a date, or with the family! The staff is always friendly. There are games to play while chilling. Go check this "locals" spot out in West AVL!

I was very excited to have lunch there! Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant service experience and this is on what I'm basing my review. The beer was fine and the environment of the restaurant was good. My husband and I parked nearby and, unfortunately, on the very short walk to the restaurant, our 7 months old puppy got scared from two revving motorcycles. So when we got to the brewery the puppy was shaking ...we sat in a quiet section outside in the corner and the puppy hid under the chair and curled up, still shaking. Our waiter came and was very animated, talking in a very loud voice. There was absolutely nobody else in our section and it was very quiet, there was no reason to shout. I asked him very politely if he could please lower his voice because the puppy is scared already. There were a lot of humane ways in which he could have responded. Instead, he chose a weird response - no, he can't lower his voice, because "there will be a lot of people here, this place fills out, and my loud voice is needed for the customers". What? We would be long gone by then. I didn't understand how this applied to us. Then he proceeded to say that, actually, since there were two recent bite accidents at the restaurant, he's now afraid of dogs and would like us to move "downstairs". I showed him the shaking curled up 7 month old puppy under the chair, who was also on a short leash strapped around my waist, and told him that there was no way he was at any risk of being bitten. Not to mention the puppy was a good distance from him and would t have been able to reach him. So he said ok and we stayed there. This interaction right away left me lose interest in a full lunch, so we looked at the beers. As we were trying to pick, the waiter started telling my husband "Just pick and if you don't like it, piss it on the floor, I'll take it off the bill and give you another! I don't care! I'm not paying! The people whose name is written over there (pointing to the door) are paying". He continued repeating versions of that as we picked beer. At that time I realized there was an odor of marihuana in the air and I believe it came from him as it got stronger when he approached and disappeared when he got away. As he brought our beers, I asked him "what did you say is your name?" He responded, "I didn't give you my name and I wouldn't. It's 2026 and anyone can quickly find anything about you from your name" I was trying to be friendly after our initial spat over the voice but he wasn't having it. He walked away. We finished our beers and fries, got the check and left. On the bill, I saw the name Matthew H. listed The interactions with the waiter left us with a negative overall experience. He was paranoid, erratic and I did not feel comfortable to stay for a full lunch as we had planned. I had originally written a version of this review which lacked all the details and which had stronger wording. There was a complaint about the review (I assume from the restaurant) so I removed it and I'm replacing it with this one which states the facts. This was our experience and I didn't like it.

Being that I was dining alone, I decided to sit at the bar. From a corner of the bar, I had a clear view of the small stage where the band was performing. It seems like so many restaurants, bars and pubs in Asheville have local music, and this place definitely did not disappoint. The food was great. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the house-made buttermilk biscuit and cheddar stone-ground grits were delicious. The service was the only factor that kept me from giving a 5 star review. When I sat down at the bar, it took awhile for someone to greet me and take my order. After my order was taken, I waited a long time for the food. Overall, if you're looking for good food, a fun environment, and great live music, I would definitely suggest visiting Jack of the Wood in Asheville. Cheers

Top notch food that you'll be very satisfied with and a great stage with some of the best opportunities to catch some amazing performances in a small venue around. As a plus, both the architecture and the interior design and decoration is supper fun as well. I liked this place so much I bought a tea shirt on my first visit. Will definitely be back again whenever I am in the Asheville area again.
