I have been meaning to write this review since forever. I love this driving school. The teachers I tried are all great: Luis, George, Erick and Ruffino. I especially love Erick, he was instrumental in helping me understand and execute the skills needed not only to pass my test but also to feel capable and ready to drive in the city. Plus, he made things super easy for me to understand. It only took a few packages, lol, but it was worth every penny. Sometimes you have to try a few instructors out to find the one that works best with your personality and learning style, and that's ok. It took me time to learn but that's me and I was not bothered by it. The people who work at the desk are so nice and organized, and they answered the phone! Which is why I also bought a package from them, so I could book my classes asap. All my teachers cared that I learned and got it, and that was very important to me. I am grateful for them. Real results: Cedeno gave me the skills and the wherewithal to pass the road test and get my license within 2 months of first contact. I obtained a learner's permit on my own without studying. When it came time to choose the 5-hour drivers ed course and some lessons, I searched high and low for the school with the most consistent results, stellar reviews, and reasonable pricing. Cedeno was clearly "the one." The Williamsburg office is easy to get to on Grand, a few blocks from the G train. It's no frills, but gets the job done. I paid for all of the lessons (except for the very last one) online with ease; the office promptly called me to schedule appointments for the individual 45-minute lessons on days and times that were convenient for me. The 5-hour class was virtual and extremely valuable because as other reviewers have stated, they ONLY give you the exact knowledge you need to know to pass the test. There is no wasted time, and I took copious notes. In the end, I took about 9 individual lessons. During my very first lesson, I was given some very basic techniques with a great amount of patience. (I basically know "how" to drive, but had very little experience, especially on streets like Brooklyn.) From there, I learned how to successful parallel park under the tutelage of Fabian. He showed me "Fabian's Triangle" which made it effortless. He also coached me through the 3-point turn. Full disclosure: I had to take the road test twice. I was scheduled (by the school) for Seaview and that day was totally doomed from the start. Seaview is nothing like the practice streets of Williamsburg. The drive out there was really long, and so I had time to build up all kinds of self-doubt and nervous energy in my mind. The woman from Cendeno who took us (students) out there was unable to explain to us due to a language barrier what was going on (she asked us to get out of the car, get into the car, barely told us about the process. I get it now; you will get to the test site, join a long queue and wait be tested according to your scheduled time, regardless of when you arrive.) During my first test, my nervousness was such that I was actually shaking and felt disoriented because the Seaview streets are so wide and suburban when compared to Williamsburg. I completely froze up when trying to parallel park. For my second (and final road test attempt), I wised up and asked for Red Hook. I would advise anyone to do Red Hook if your only experience is in the Williamsburg area. I took 2 lessons with George once I had rescheduled the road test, and he had me drive around and practice in the industrial areas of Williamsburg/Greenpoint/Bushwick which totally mirror the Red Hook test site. This time, I was able to let go of my own fear, trust in "Fabian's Triangle," and pass. I did get a few minor points (as George pointed out, I don't triple-check my blind spots often enough.) Good to know for not only the test but for being a safe driver in the future. I would highly, highly recommend Cedeno as THE ONLY driving school to go to in New York. I PASSED - First try, 3 lessons, all in one week! Road test in Maspeth. Unbeatable prices! I've been putting off learning how to drive until I was 29... and at that point was scared of driving in NYC. But I really have to hand it to Cedeno. I never thought I could feel so thankful to a driving school company! The instructors were phenomenal! They were definitely more than just driving instructors - sometimes they were confidence boosters, always cheerful and optimistic, and knew when and how to ingrain driving pointers to make sure you passed the road test. THANK YOU TO FABIAN (spent 1.5 hours with me, constantly repeating the same thing over and over again and just immensely patient) and GEORGE (for not thinking I was crazy when I wanted to take my road test 3 days after our first lesson) and LOUIS (for making the 5 hour class enjoyable on Wed night)! The car rental was totally worth it, Fabian drove me to the site and repeated his pointers as we were heading over. Just perfect to keep you calm and relaxed. I called in on a Monday, took a 45 min lesson on Tues, 5hr on Wed, 1.5 hr lesson on Thurs, and then my road test on Fri. I know I had originally asked to schedule my road test as soon as possible, but I thought it would at least be a week and not just 3 days later! Thank you to the receptionists. You both were so, so friendly. Nice and polite, no matter how many times I called in or questions I asked. They were just as happy when I came in to tell them I passed as I was. BEST PRICES TOO! When I decided to learn to drive in NYC I reached out to 4 different driving schools, and Cedeno was the only one to respond. Although I don't live in Williamsburg the good reviews and timeliness of their responses convinced me it was worth the additional journey time. Everyone who works in the office is so incredibly efficient. I booked by package as soon as I received my learners permit, and in less than a month I was able to schedule and complete the 5 hour class, three lessons as well as my road test, all in the times of COVID. They booked my road test as soon as I completed the 5 hour class, and my lessons were timed to be as close to test day as possible. The instructors are great, and I wouldn't have passed without them. I would perhaps recommend requesting the same instructor throughout, although I had Jorge and Juan Carlos and they were both great. I got different tips from both of them. Dealing with the DMV isn't fun, but booking a package through Cedeno removes a lot of potential headaches. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and if you listen to their tips you have a great chance of passing first time. The nice thing is that as I knew my test site was Red Hook, they took me to areas of Williamsburg and Greenpoint that felt very similar. There's a lot of driving schools out there with mixed reviews, and there are others that have good reviews but are a much higher price point. Cedeno is very fairly priced, incredibly organized, and have vehicles that are in excellent condition and clean. I did a lot of research before committing, and couldn't be happier with my choice. Couldn't have had a better experience than I did at Cedeno. I had never been behind the wheel of a vehicle so as you can imagine I was anxious. However, with the help of Jorge all I needed was 5 lessons, a little bit of practice and determination to pass my road test on the first try. I opted for the 5 lesson package, which includes the 5 hour class, 5 45-min driving lessons and the ultimately the road test. Jorge obviously loves what he does and is very to the point. It's important to really listen and retain what they want you to learn. I chose cedeno driving school as it was an affordable option (prices were great), as well as a number of good reviews, and a friend who had also used them. I purchased a package of 2 tune up lessons and the driving test (you need the school to get you a spot for a test). They were amazing in booking test times and dealing with my ridiculous schedule... :) The driving instructor I had, Louis was so knowledgeable - heavily focused on all the small things that I needed to know to pass the test - he was very firm with me and my years of bad driving habits and had me practice over and over the areas that I was most concerned about until those areas were no longer a concern. I'd highly recommend this place if you've never driven before as the instructors here will break down the driving process for you step by step. I've taken regular driving lessons here with Luis, as well as a highway driving lesson with George and I was fairly comfortable with both lessons. This coming from someone who sometimes suffers from anxiety. I'd also recommend taking your 5 hour course here if you're really just getting started (There is also a Groupon offer). They don't play a 5 hour video and expect you to sit through and watch it like most driving schools do, instead Luis makes the course interactive and you're most likely going to learn something you've never knew before. A good Driving School in East Williamsburg just off the L train. The owner, Marcia, and her assistant, Myalene, as well as all of the driving instructors, are bilingual in Español & English. Charming and simpatico they all will make every effort to help you pass your driver's test. I had not driven for more than eight years, having allowed my driver's license to expire. So I had to re-learn how to drive in the city, in this case Brooklyn, which wasn't easy, since I had become older and less receptive and less resilient. I bought two packages of five lessons each - I attended as follows which worked best for me; two lessons a week as a single 45 minute session or one lesson a week as a 90 minute double session. The first five pac was moderately priced via a Groupon coupon which includes the required Five hour Pre-Licensing course; an excellent live interactive seminar taught by Luis on location at the Cedeno Driving School. The second pac of five, which I felt was necessary to complete my driver's ed and be ready for the driving test, was again moderately priced. For all ten of driving lessons my driving instructor Luis was consistently patient and professional and made everything clear and precise. The driving school owns and operates five automatic stick shift vehicles. You learn in the same vehicle with which you take the driving test and Cedeno arranges your road test and drives you to the test site. Myalene made sure that my test was booked at Seagate within a few days of my last driving lesson. And of course I passed my driver's test. The only thing that stopped me from giving Cedeno a Five Star review is that the common area of the school and bathroom need to be a lot cleaner. read more

I took the 5 hour class with Luis who makes the class very interactive and very informative; the 5 hours flew by. I highly recommend this driving school. The two ladies who help with booking your road test and lessons are very helpful, patient, and accommodating. I drove mostly with Luis and Fabian who are both amazing instructors. From driving with the both of them they helped me to correct my technique so that i could pass my test. I had driving experience before driving with Cedeno but like any other New Yorker i put off taking the driving test. Today was my second time taking the test only because i let my nerves get the best of me the first time and completely messed up. Today i drove for 6 minutes and passed with only 5 points for excessive maneuvers when parking which I'm not mad at. I PASSED!!!!!! I am soooo happy to have finally passed my driving test. I failed the test at first, but this was mainly because of my anxiety on the test day and NOT a reflection of the Cedeno instructors. I passed the test in Seaview which is probably the very BEST of all the test sites in Brooklyn. I worked with Luis and Jorge exclusively. I'm sure the other test instructors are also great, but my preference was to work with no more than 2 instructors to limit the different types of driving styles I would have to process. Both Jorge and Luis are EXCELLENT instructors with very different driving styles which complement each other. I started my lessons with Luis, who I think is a great instructor for both very new and experienced drivers. I later took lessons with Jorge as well so that I would have experience driving with someone else. Instructors: Luis is super detail oriented and explains driving maneuvers and the rules of the road very clearly, which is awesome! This was super helpful because my brain needs to understand the details in how a car operates and the logic behind the driving rules to do it well. With Luis, I knew exactly what I needed to do and why I needed to do it. He was extremely patient with all my questions and has a very relaxed and calm vibe which is great if you're feeling a bit anxious during your lesson. Jorge's approach is a bit more laid back, hands off, "sink or swim" style. I started working with him after I'd had lessons with Luis and was already comfortable on the road. Jorge guided me when needed, allowing me to figure things out on my own when I had to, and reminding me of the core steps I needed to do for each maneuver. Jorge's vibe is a bit more energetic and really friendly which made driving easy and fun. I highly recommend both instructors - both are really smart, great drivers, and helpful. The difference really comes down to your learning style and personal preference. 5-Hour Class: I also took the 5-hour driving course with Luis, which was informative and felt easy to get through. Didn't feel like 5 hours at all! As indicated above, Luis is a great teacher and helps you really learn how to drive and the importance of being a good driver. He's smart and easy to understand. Admin: Booking classes and rescheduling lessons is a fairly easy process. The owner and front desk crew are all friendly and helpful. Key things to know is that you should book WAY in advance - both Jorge and Luis' schedules fill up quickly! Also, everyone wants to take their test in Seaview so you may have to wait some time to get a road test there. Overall, I would recommend that anyone take their lessons at Cedeno. This driving school is AMAZING! Specifically the driving instructor named Luis, is phenomenal! I got the 10 class package last year, took 6 of them, and injured my arm so I couldnt take my remaining 4 classes or the road test. Cut to this year i was finally healed and ready to finish my package. I scheduled all my classes the week before my road test and realized that I basically forgot everything. Luis has a way of teaching driving lessons that made me feel totally at ease. He is patient, very detailed in guiding you while behind the wheel, and speaks in a soothing manner where you wont feel nervous at all. By the end of my classes I was once again somewhat confident driving. We did a practice test at the end of the last driving lesson and that made me mindful of the things that i need to be aware of during the road test. That really helped I took my road test in Red Hook 2 days ago and I PASSED on the 1st try with just a few points! Passed my test on the first try! Only had 10 points taken off, too, which is a pretty good score. The woman who runs Cedeno is terrific - efficient, no bullshit, organized and answers all of your questions. I liked that I could get a package, which included the 5hr class (not exactly 5 hrs... :) and getting my appointment set up. I did the 15classes package, for $500+. I had 13 classes with instructor George, and two classes with instructor Louis. George is incredibly friendly, and really helped me get the basics down. We worked a lot on my turns, pulling out of a parked position, sharp and wide-st turns. When after 10 classes he said he didn't think I would pass - I heeded his advice and rescheduled (&practiced a lot in car2go with my bf). Class 11 & 12 was with Louis, who should honestly do audio manuals - he explains things os clearly. I had a lot of trouble conceptualizing parallel parking but in one-45min class he walked me through all the steps, and it was completely smooth sailing from there. One minus, that might be just a "me thing" is that I learn much better by doing, rather than being helped with gear change/wheel turn/break. To each his own though. Everyone at Cedeno really wants you to pass, so you are constantly not just learning how to drive, but learning how to take the test. I'm so proud and relieved to have completed this journey. I passed my road test today and it's all thanks to this school-it took me 3 tries (but that was on me since I was super nervous each time). But George, Fabian and Luis all helped me get to where I am at today! I was shocked at how easy it is to fail the test. What I discovered is that driving during the road test is completely different from how you would drive in general in New York. You would need to have a very clear understanding of the rules and make a lot of deliberate movements during the test which might sometimes seem unnecessary and excessive. You would never see anyone drive like that in real life so your natural tendency is to not do them. And this is where the problem comes. Lot of driving school instructors just tell you how they would drive in general. Or may be, they might teach you to drive a bit more cautious than they would in general. But this may not be enough. There will be some scenarios where they themselves are unclear on what the DMV guys expect you to do during the exam. So picking the right instructor is really important. I joined Cedeno driving school after my colleague recommendation it. Luis was my instructor and he is simply amazing! He is very patient and calm. He doesn't waste your time during the class and explains things very clearly. He doesn't beat around the bush and tells you exactly what you are doing wrong and gives you a lot of tips to rectify them. What I liked the most was that his concepts are extremely clear. He will tell you exactly what the DMV guys expect and the things you need to watch out for at the test location you picked. I took only three classes with him and that was enough. He planned out his classes very nicely and made sure that he taught everything in those classes. I had a very bad technique for parallel parking that I leant from my previous driving school. He rectified it very nicely and explained me why it is incorrect even though I was able to park the car properly with that technique. He also took a mock road test for me on my last class and it was extremely helpful. You would do a lot of mistakes under pressure and mock tests like these are absolutely necessary in my opinion. I passed my road test by loosing only 10 points. That is actually considered pretty good as loosing points is extremely easy. On my test day, there was one more girl with me. She also took her classes with Luis and passed the test after me. Lastly, the owner and the front desk receptionist are very nice. They are very efficient and try to make things easy for you with scheduling classes, tests etc. You also get nice reminder texts from their automated system one day before the class so that you don't forget. I had zero driving experience when I got my permit 3 months ago and immediately went to this driving school for the 5-hr class and driving lessons.
