I went for my five hour class and it was great! I got there before the class started at 10, and I was first in line. They took me right away, the front desk people ( two women ) were extremely friendly. Explained everything clearly all with a smile on this gloomy day. We started the class upstairs and the instructor Kat, light skin, grew hair, was such a great teacher! She was extremely funny and witty. My last experience in a five hour class was horrible I fell asleep, the teacher only put on a video , didn't speak and didn't give us any paper or a pen to take notes. However Kat had us all prepared. She encouraged participation, you can tell she has a genuine love for safety. And as a new driver I appreciated that. It kept me attentive and actually wanting to learn. This school is really great, I hate the area but I would definitely come back for anything else I need. I waited until I pass my road test to leave a review of my whole experience and most importantly not write it when angry and wrote a week after passing road test. My family used this driving school for a long time so I decided to use them. I did my package online that was ok. It was whenever I called in those young ladies at the front desk, always an attitude and always gave me the wrong information. It was frustrating and I was always polite. They booked my appointment for road test. That was ok no issue. I did my 5 hour class it was on zoom don't have an issue there. I signed up for driving lessons and did the back to back lessons. I GOT NO FEED BACK we just drove around. When we did parallel parking and I had questions, the instructor did not respond he just gave me a print out that tells you how to park and do 3 point turns. At the end still no feedback or any communication. I had more more lessons signed up scheduled. I cancel and went to another school for the lessons. When I call to ask about the appointment date attitude again from one of the young ladies, but it mainly came when I noted When I was not using their car for road test. I wasn't sure of where the site was located so I asked, I was met with silence. I just remembered walking away from this school not liking my experience when trying to get information, scheduling lessons and given wrong information. The lessons was not helpful as well. I'm sure it was great for my family years ago but did not like my experience. I passed my road test and it was not due to the lessons received. Overall, a good driving school but some of the instructors and office workers are very unhelpful and rude such as Instructor Debbie. She would get extremely nervous with each and every move I made on the road. She spoke to me like I was a little girl and I did not appreciate any of it and she didn't teach me anything basically just made me drive around for the 2 lessons I took with her. But once I was able to switch instructors, everything was a 10/10. Eugene is an AMAZING instructor, he does not panic or get frustrated. He taught me the 3 point turn during our first lesson and was very helpful with everything. I passed my driving test the FIRST time. All thanks to Eugene!! DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH JAMEL. ASK FOR BERNARD. I took classes as brand new driver. I took classes with him and he belittled me and treated me as if I was an idiot. Every time I made a mistake he would pick at me saying "I'm not retaining his instruction." He made me feel anxious behind the wheel and abruptly grabbed the wheel from my hands several times. The best way I can describe Jamel is by saying he teaches like someone who hates teaching. My best recommendation is that he become a full time driving exam proctor as opposed to instructor. He also had to be told on several occasions to wear his mask during covid. The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because of BERNARD. I'm so glad I swapped to him. Bernard is a FANTASTIC driving teacher. He's old school. If you have to wait to be able to schedule with him, then do it. Bernard is great. I have to say that they are very good charging you money. That's the only thing they care about. After my fist test class for a Class A CDL license I decided to cancel the package I was going to get. They told me they will charge me 10% of the total amount which is was $2575 without even taking the fist class of the package. needless to say that I had to call around 15 times to finally get some who cancel my package. I worked with several different driving schools over a span of about 7years. I had not passed my test until Julien was my instructor. He is an excellent teacher. He is confident in his ability to teach you and help you pass. I practiced for about 4 consistent months to ensure that I would get enough practice and learn what was necessary. My brother took lessons with these guys and paid to use their car for his road test. They told use to show up at 745am the morning of the road test. The instructor himself shows up 30MINUTES late. I couldn't care less if it was raining. This is your job. You show up 30minutes late, you can get fired. But somehow the driving school keeps blaming the weather on why the instructor was 30min late. Well, the weather affects everyone and WE showed up on time. That is not an excuse. I imagine everyone knows how to use the weather app? Please check the weather and plan accordingly. They do not seem to grasp the concept that their tardiness causes a chain reaction throwing a wrench into everyone else's day. My mother was late for work due to this, since she wasn't about to let my brother wait out there on his own in the rain waiting for some schmuck who might not show up. Also, they have NO protocol for what to do in this situation. NO one to contact. They have our contact info. however, which is funny, because the instructor didn't think to contact us at ALL ahead of time, saying he was running late?... And while I'm taking the time to write this out for our dear reader, let me also say this school teaches you some weird/shitty things. I asked my brother how they taught him to parallel park, and it was this overly complicated mechanical 20step process, that cannot really be applied to the real world. I'm currently sitting in their 5 hour class. It was scheduled to start at 10am but it's now 10:30. I had a good experience with them thus far given that today is my first day trying them out. The receptionists were all friendly. However, having been to 3 other driving schools, this 5- hour class has started at the latest time by far. I will update this review once the class is complete. I was able to pass my road test with the help of my driving instructor Jamel. I was able to go from a non experienced terrified driver behind the wheel for the first time to becoming a confident driver with good judgment and decision making skills behind the wheel. He's straight forward in his instructions and being able to set you up for success to pass your road test which is the ultimate goal. In regards to driving especially in NY with unfortunately so many reckless drivers that's something that you need. i love the punctuality and convenience and all instructors are great that I've had. I'm horrible with names but I had an elder Jamaican man that was excellent and a Latina woman that was amazing. A tall dark skin Nigerian man and a young American Black man with a beard that smells like cigarettes and likes the sound of his own voice more than the lesson were the worst. They think randomly grabbing the wheel and mansplaining the lesson makes it helpful. The Nigerian man was rude and if you express discontent he calls it getting mad. Apparently women aren't allowed to be uncomfortable with him. The American man thought his bs pep talk and unsolicited advice mattered more than me checking my blind spots and doing my lesson. He is disrespectful and incessantly talks when you don't ask for it. So to whoever reads this, the school is fine- just avoid those two "men". read more

Although, I did not take my driving lessons with Image, I took the five hour class and a few single lessons to get my parking skills down before the test. I will always recommend Image because of the one or two lessons I took that helped me with my parallel parking. Although I was a good parker while taking lessons with my original school, I did not feel confident when doing it on my own. I do not remember who was my instructor, but I do remember the tips he told me and I parallel park almost perfectly even up to this day with the same tip. It was definitely worth it because I know I passed my test and parking because of that lesson I had. read more

Worst driving ever. I took a 10 package deal with this school and not once did my instructor tried to teach me how to park. When i brought this to his attention at the 10th 45 mins session HE TOLD ME "I'm not ready for that yet, you should purchase more single lessons for the parking session". this guy really told me no I'm not ready to learn when I'm here to learn!!!!!! So i ended taking the test with them because it was supposed to be part of the package (they ended up charging 150$ right before I'm supposed to take the test so i couldn't refuse at that point) just to fail!!! i honestly thought it was me at first but i ended up going to another driving school and took 3 classes without any complication and passed my driving test with ease this is the worst driving school ever!period. please don't waste your time or your money with these people. My first experience with this school happened about 4 years ago when I first got my learner's permit. During my first lesson, my instructor didn't do much in the way of explaining things before she had me start driving. It was my first time ever on the road... any other times though few, were in a parking lot. I was already nervous as it was. I chose to wait for oncoming traffic to pass rather than try to go around a double parked car. She however forced me to do it as a truck was coming in my direction. Granted, I probably wouldn't have been hit, but the experience of a truck coming that close caused me to go into a full-fledged panic attack, as I've been in a car accident as a passenger in similar circumstances. She had zero sympathy, almost seemed annoyed that I was having issues breathing and was crying. After that experience I never drove again. Fast forward to this spring, I decided to give driving another try, and gave the school another try, but requested a different instructor... Can you believe they kept my info on file all those years lol? They asked me if I wanted to the instructor I had previously and I gave an emphatic NOO! lol They sent me another instructor, this time a male. The fist lesson went well, I felt much better and willed myself through the nerves. The fact that it had begun to rain during my lesson further increased my confidence as I drove around a busy East Flatbush that Saturday afternoon. After that lesson, I decided to spring for 10 lesson package, including the 5 hour class, test appointment, and car for the test. My second lesson with this new instructor wasn't so great however. I had made an installment payment over the phone but I guess it was after they had already printed the instructor's roster for the day, so when I got in the car he was asking me for money. I told him I made a payment already, and he had an attitude about it as he had to call the school to confirm. I guess the staff person explained the situation to him and he didn't like what he heard or how it was said. Eitherway, the rest of my lesson he was muttering to himself and had a funky attitude with me. Anytime I made a mistake he would talk my ear off about the 50 things that would go wrong in the world if I made that mistake ever again. Yes, me hesitating to turn would further the damage in the ozone layer in addition to confusing other drivers lol. I thought I was learning here... and that was only the 3rd time over 4 years I was on the road, cut me a little slack dude! Please correct me so I can learn the right way, of course, I mean that's what I'm paying for, but he was talking so much I couldn't even concentrate because he wouldn't just shut up and let me drive lol. On top of that he was on his cell at least 4 times during my lesson. When I got out of the car at the end I was so pissed. At that point I had already paid nearly $100 towards my package so I had to just find a way to make it work. I called to schedule my next appointment and requested a different instructor. This time they sent me Al, who, even with all the negatives I have previously listed, is your best bet if you do decide to go with this school. He is definitely their saving grace. With him I felt more confident behind the wheel, and while he gives direction during the lesson, he waits until you're back at your pick up/drop off location to download about your lesson, what you need to work on, and most importantly, what you did right. Since driving with him I have looked forward to my lessons and driving doesn't freak me out like it did before. Now about that office staff lol... Their customer service is the worst! They never explained fully the package or the 5 hour class schedule and it has caused one frustrating phone call after the other. When I say I want to make a payment to my package they seem to be as polite and sweet as apple pie. Anything else I'm a simpleton that has to be spoken to in the most annoying and condescending tone possible... maybe the other instructor had a reason to be annoyed that day lol I can see how he was feeling some kind of way lol To conclude, I would NOT recommend this driving school. But if you, like me, got sucked in by the low-budget but catchy commercial with the teenagers rapping lol, ask for the instructor named Al. This is the most money hungry establishment I've ever used. I ordered the 10 class package thinking that I got a great deal and I would be able to learn in 10 lessons. My instructor spent most of my lessons texting and paying me no mind. I took this a a sign that I drove well and he trusted my ability to drive but I very quickly learned that he only wanted me to order extra lessons. I spent about 15 lessons doing left and right turn and occasionally a k turn and a parallel park (by occasional I mean rarely) and he shorted my lessons by 10-15 minutes every single time. I decided to go with a private instructor instead who I felt was wonderful, noticed every mistake and paid attention to all the details but I had a package so i returned to image for my 5 hr class. The class was fine but they held my 5hr certificate until the day of the road test. Road test day comes, I have an appointment for 8am using the school's car. I waited outside of the school for an hour before the instructor called me (at 7:40) to ask if I had a road test today. He then finished someone else's lesson then got me to the road test site at 8:01.... All bad unorganized and unprofessional. Would never recommend. read more

Eep! I passed my road test on the first try! I'm not about that rubbing it in everyone's face and whatever, but I just thought that it would be a great factor in having you consider going to this driving school. Front desk girls; yes they have their days and it lasts like 29 days of the month LOL. Every single time I walk in and say hello they just give me this "what do /you/ want face" to the point where I've started to think it's hilarious how they put up with being sour like that day after day. The owner himself is pretty kind. They're very organized, you get receipts for all transactions and they call you 2-3 days ahead to confirm a lesson with you. If you can't make it and fail to notify them a day ahead, they will charge a 10$ fee to your account, however if it's your first time canceling it late they can waive it. I took 11 (maybe 12?) classes with Image, first four were with Jamal, who was able to pick me up from my apartment. I didn't feel like he was that helpful, so when I was approaching the end of my package (initially 5 lessons), I requested for a different instructor. They gave me Debbie and I love her so so much, she's great at what she does and I can't thank her enough. Debbie couldn't pick me up from where I lived but that's okay, I feel because I passed the road test by her instructions All her lessons were exactly 45 minutes long, so if you're afraid of being cheated on this wouldn't happen with her. My very last lesson was with Andre, and he was great too!! I was running late cause MTA is dumb and Andre called me, I told him I'm just 5 stops on the bus and he came by to pick me up. 5 hour class was not terrible, first half we watched videos about accidents and obvious ways they could've been avoided. Then there's a break in between, and there was another video to watch while waiting for the owner to talk to us about what the road test basically consists of, and what fees for what reasons, because you should always know about fees lol You can request to schedule a road test right after the end of the 5 hour class, or not, but they tell you everything if you have properly working ears and can understand English. This driving school is horrible. I am the type of person that's loves to give great reviews but after two run ins with them and I just have to speak on it. My mother in law paid for a package for me of driving classes. She paid it in full. My instructor was late for three of the classes, and on my second to last class just didn't show up. When I called the school they said that he was out for a family emergency which I understand happens but I was not notified by anyone. I was given a complimentary class to make up for this mistake. The next time I needed to do the 5 hr class, I came back because it was close and convenient. They refused to let me take the class until I paid off this mysterious balance that I have a feeling was for the complementary class they gave me for their mistake. When I attempted to explain this to the guy at the desk he kept cutting me off, I couldn't even explain myself. It has been such a negative experience with the school both times, they were just very lazy with how they handled everything. read more

We were writing until our hands fell off and I didn't. Learn anything at all because all she did was sat on her fat ass. A staple in the Canarsie community. About 10 years ago, I walked into Image Driving School and paid down on a package deal so that I could learn to drive. With the help of Abraham (one of the driving instructors, awesome by the way), I passed my test. Service was impeccable then, and it's still impeccable today! I recently went back to complete the defensive driving course. I had done the course online before however, I'm really glad I did it at Image. The class is held in the downstairs classroom which is pretty modern and comfortable. The instructor was entertaining yet, informative. I learned a lot more than the online course and had an open opportunity to ask questions and even learn from other classmates. The course is about $45 (please call to double-check). You must be on-time and you must return from the lunch break on-time or they will exclude you, I actually saw them do it. Overall, I highly recommend Image Driving School. Customer Service- Ok Its hit or miss sometimes.They do call you to remind you of lessons.You have to pay for lessons in advance or the day of your lesson. Lesson-Meh Its hit or miss depending on the instructor you have and your learning preference/style. The school should do a better job at matching students with instructors. Learning Style: I like to do everything on my own and prefer the instructor to give me feedback after I have made mistakes. I find that this is how I personally learn from my mistakes I had one lesson with Abraham. He is great! He is very calm,gives great directions. No complaints. I had a lesson with Joe. (He is an older gentleman in case there are other Joes that work here. )He was extremely rude, and he didn't let me do things before even criticizing me. He even went on to criticize why I was not taking the test near my house and going through another school which I didnt even have to share with him.I am usually really calm and patient but this man was really testing my patience. I was really annoyed with his attitude and he really didn't even care. There was a point when he was just on his phone. My favorite instructor, Marlon left the school. I was deeply saddened. He was the best! I learned how to do turns properly because of him in just two lessons. I can say I have my license now because of him. Simply Amazing! Sean is also great. We did mock trials of the driving test to ensure that I was comfortable. In all, meh. I do not think I would recommend taking a package here. Its hit or miss with instructors.Prices are okay. Ive had 3 instructors, Alpha, Julien and Andy. Andy has been the absolute best so far and knows how to break things down to which makes sense, makes sure you get comfortable with learn the right way before anything else. Does not do any sudden movements for the wheel or going for the gas/break. The others (Alpha and Julien) were to relaxed nor made any real effort. Julien picked up a phone call at one point, refused to put his seat belt on, would answer text messages. I made sure the remainder of my lessons are done with Andy. The girls on the phone are very friendly and accommodating. Bernard, my instructor was awesome. He has a calm demeanor and very professional. Always on time and boasted my confidence on the road. I couldn't say the same thing about Jamel. Jamel made me uncomfortable and wasn't helpful at all. It was distracting watching him brush his hair during my whole 45-minute lesson. I was able to take pass my road test thanks to Bernard. The only other critique I would give is some of the cars aren't as well maintained as other. My experience was fairly good. The only criticism I have was that my original driving instructor (not naming him for obvious reasons, but he was mentioned on this page) was constantly late for my lessons. To add insult to injury, he was also very demanding, rude and made me very uncomfortable when driving. I ultimately ended up replacing him with another instructor who was consistently on time and a lot less overbearing. He spoke to me as if I was one of his enemies on the streets. He patronized me throughout our entire first lesson. When I told him that I no longer wanted to continue the lesson with him, he mocked me and called me names during our ride back to the school. When I reported him to his manager, he proceeded to lie about the way he treated me. Overall, I believe the driving school has potential, but they need to hire instructors with respect. I think the driving school has great prices. If you're looking for a school solely for a cheaper price, this is the place for you. . DO NOT use the driving school's car for the road test. They will switch the cars on you! Part of the package includes a car for your road test. They guarantee that it will be the same car that you learned in. This is the reason they provided for refusing to allow me time before the road test to get to know the car. The car I learned in was a fairly new Toyota Corolla which had a push button start with a traditional right hand vertical gear shift. The car they gave me for the road test was at least 10 years older than the car I learned in and had a key ignition with an unusual right hand nested gear shift. The transmission audibly grinded when shifting gears, and the gear shift LOCKED during the test multiple times. When pulling out, the gear was in Drive, but the car went in reverse! The test administrator saw the gear was in Drive and asked me to start again(I thought I had failed automatically but I had not). I had to fight with the gear shift to put it in Drive and started the test. During the test when I was asked to park, the gear shift got stuck again. This time I had to fight to get it into Reverse, and then when I finished parking, I had to lean into the gear shift with all my arm strength to push it into Park. I lifted my foot off the brake and the car began to roll, so I push it into Park again with all the body weight I could muster. By this time I felt the car was unsafe and asked to end the road test. This seems to be a scam because now they will have the opportunity to charge me again for a road test vehicle to retake the test. This gearbox would unnerve any new driver and should not even be in service. Luckily, I have my own car and am going to use it for my retest in May. I was lucky that I was able to brake when the car went in reverse. Another driver would have crashed the car the first time the gear shift stuck...and possibly hurt someone. However Karen is the best 5hour class instructor. So I added one star for her instructions read more

I found a gem in the pile of crap they call image driving school. The instructor Tehron is amazing. Very patient, encouraging and helpful. Gives you pointers that will stick with you. He makes me feel so comfortable in the car with him. I told him about my past with image and he made sure to make my time with him worth something.
