At first, I was unsure where the location was, but people nearby noticed I was lost and informed me that the school is inside the hardware store because the second floor is under renovation. This is a great driving school! Orlando, the owner, is quite professional and congenial on the phone. I already have my NYS driver's license, but I wanted to book driving and parking lessons to brush up on my skills. The prices for single lessons and packages reasonable. My experience with Adams Auto School has been both unpleasant and traumatizing. I had paid for the 8 classes plan. My lessons started with the manager, Joseph. The first incident that caught me off guard was on my first lesson. He had me stop outside of a store. He left and went to buy some food before coming back for my lesson. I felt this was an unprofessional use of the time I paid for. He was also very impatient, and his explanations were confusing. For example, he used vague explanations with turning (ex: turn with the corner). He also became increasingly frustrated with me when showing me how to park. He never alerted me that he wanted to show me how to park. He just told me to "stop the car". When I was struggling with backing up, he became frustrated. After 4 lessons with Joseph, I called the school and asked to be switched to a new driver. That was when I was given Mr. Miller. Mr. Miller touched me inappropriately numerous times. He would continuously touch and tap my hand and arm. This was coupled with him engaging in random conversations that consistently distracted me when driving. Our last session was by far the most traumatizing. After having me drive off from a gas station, he held my hand when I tried to put the car into drive. He also repeatedly touched my leg. He then had me drive to a location where he had me park. I assumed he was going to teach me how to pull out when he just left me in the car alone for 15 minuets. He came back with a plastic bag, talking openly about smelling salt and oil. Lastly, he engaged in a conversation about strippers and talked graphically about their breasts being exposed The impatient instruction from Joseph and the inappropriate harassment from Mr. Miller left me extremely disgusted as this was my first experience with a driving school. I would never recommend this school to anyone, especially to women. read more

The driver instructor Timothy is an excellent instructor, he will be hard on you but those difficult moments push you to be a stronger and more confident driver. So long as you listen and stay patient, he will give you exactly what you need. With him, I was able to do 15 lessons and pass the test with ease. read more

I have had three different instructors here, Mr. Miller, Mr. Brown, and someone else. They come off like stern fathers - you get a little frustrated, but you appreciate them later. They have a lot of patience and years of driving experience. They've also been in the neighborhood for years. They offer that BS 5hr class as well. If you can get past the rinky dink office, it's worth the money. They're always on time to pick you up, and the cars are in good shape. Excellent driving school. My family have been working with them for years!! I am deeply appreciate for the classes they gave me. Even though it's suggested that you take 30 classes as an adult, I only took 6 and I passed the test with flying colors. Please be wise with the instructor you choose. Mr Stephenson is a PIECE OF SHIT! He doesn't know how to teach or even speak for that matter. He doesn't tell you what you've done wrong, he just gives you a piece of paper (which is the same paper they give you on the test) and doesn't teach. Not a respectable person. If they ever assign you to him, please get a switch I'm telling you. He's a waste of money and time. I STRONGLY SUGGEST Mr. Timothy Joseph! Very entertaining and funny guy. True player for real! Lmao. Such a father figure. People may say he talk too much, but that's exactly what you need to pass. He tells you what you need to do and work on plus he goes out his way to give you extra practice even though he isn't supposed to. Very funny and sarcastic guy. Please choose him as an instructor!! Never had any outstanding issues with the school, ordered a 10-Lesson package which included the price for the 5 hr class, as well as a car for the road test. Road Instructors (I had Mr. Barrington as well as Mr. Stevenson) were always on time. Any time they were running late they would call ahead and inform me. The staff in the office aren't the most friendly, but they do their job so I can't complain. Mr. Joseph will make a couple jokes here and there during the 5 hr class, so at least it's somewhat enjoyable. Although I failed the Road test the first time because of possibly inexperience, and nervousness, additional lessons helped me work on my skills. I recommend! read more

I'm totally confused by so many positive reviews. I choose this school because of the reviews and ended up wasting a lot of money on the worst driving school ever. First of all the car that they use was extremely old and dirty. The first instructor was extremely aggressive and didn't allow me ask questions. The second instructor was very friendly and talkative (when he wasn't falling asleep during the lesson), but was always 15 to 20 minutes late. Each lesson was exactly the same route. This route did not include left turns or driving down a two way street. After my 10 lesson, I finally decided to give up on learning how to drive. It wasn't until a friend told me about her driving school. After my first lesson with Blue Steel (in a new vehicle) I realized it wasn't me it was the Adams driving school. I can not recommend the driving school. It was an awful experience for me and a waste of time and money. read more

I set up a lesson and they told me to be outside I stood outside for 15 minutes when I call them and asked them where is the instructor that I don't see him and they told me they canceled my lesson and forgot to tell me after taking my money is that quality service. When I call and ask why nobody contacted me they started pointing fingers and didn't know who to blame. And then when you talking to them on the phone they hang up before you could even finish your sentence. I'm going to have to sacrifice and spend a little bit more money and go to US auto school. Learn how to run your business or go to school for it at least. read more

It is also good to try out different instructors because they may pick up on new things that you weren't aware of. This School is the worst. The owner Orlando is rude and disrespectful and just like Pence interrupts you when your speaking. I bought a package from Adam driving School and my lessons was going well with Caroline. Three days before my road test Orlando changes my instructor and the car that I have been driving for the pass 3 weeks. The instructor was over 20 minutes late, and the car he shows up in was fifty dirty inside and out and he looked like Mr. Brown, from meet the browns. I asked Orlando since the driver was late could we reschedule, because i only have my babysitter for another 25 mintues he stated no. I can give you your money back. Who does this 3 days before a road test. Needless to say my lesson sucked. The seats were cloth and has stains all over them. The steering wheel look like a pitbull was chewing on it. My hands was hurting and was fifty after my lesson. The driver's side mirror couldn't be adjusted from the inside. I had to adjust it with my hand. The flintstones had a better vehicle. Chose this school based upon family recommendations and price, and honestly wish I would've chosen elsewhere. If you've NEVER been behind the wheel (like me) and have only ridden in the car as a passenger, DO NOT GO HERE!!! I signed up for the 10 class package, including the car for the road test. But at this rate, I will NOT be taking the test for the sake of safety for all NYC roads. The instructors get annoyed/sarcastic if you make a lot of mistakes and I get the feeling that they expect you to have driven a car before. From day 1, you're on busy roads, expected to know how to make turns etc., & as someone who's never been behind the wheel, it can be too much to handle. I took Barrington at first and switched with the QUICKNESS. Only take him if you need a refresher course, not as a newbie. I'm taking Mr. Wilson now and he's a LITTLE better. He actually gave me a instructional packet that provided tips, outlined my mistakes and gave kudos to what I actually did right. But like Barrington, he has a habit of getting annoyed with you if you make mistakes (which should be expected as a STUDENT), but whatever. In short, if you take a chance with this school, keep switching instructors until you find someone who is PATIENT enough and willing to treat you like a student who's never driven before, not like a child. read more

Like you call today the person that picks up the phone gives you one information, you call tomorrow a different person tells you that information you got yesterday was not accurate. if you already know how to drive, but just need to prep for the road test, great! this is the school for you. if you have never driven before and need to start from scratch, please save your money and go somewhere else. i had 1 lesson with adams auto school and quickly realized that my instructor (who's name i can't remember) was only preparing me to pass the road test. i, being a 1st time driver at the time, needed to be coached on simple techniques as well as adjusting to driving. my instructor on the other hand had me doing 3 point turns, parallel parking, and driving on streets that had heavy traffic, while telling me that this is what i'd need to do in order to pass the test.. before my 1st lesson i attended the 5 hour class, which in lack for better words, was a joke. the instructor was very pleasant, but the material was extremely outdated. in addition to watching educational driving videos from 1985, we spent almost an hour watching segments from dr.phil on teens texting and driving. the facility is as outdated as the material. the room in which the class was held had a vintage (i say vintage because it must have been from the late 70's/early 80's) poster of a woman wearing a t-shirt with JAMAICA across her chest. i forgot to mention that the woman was soaking wet in the poster, and yes, her nipples were showing. i get it, they're also a travel agency to the islands. but, nipples... really? after the class, i decided to book my 1st lesson solely due to the pleasant staff at the office. i explained to them that i was a 1st time driver and nervous, in which they assured me that my instructor would be patient. they lied. he was rude and crass. when i stopped at an intersection, he asked in a very condescending tone if the stop sign said "stop at sign". mind you, i was not near the stop sign. when we were done parallel parking, he wanted me to try it again. so, i began to pull out, line up and reverse. he then shouted "what are you doing?! pull out, excelerate!". we ended up going around the block, to the same spot to then parallel park again. i asked if he wanted me to park, and with a sigh he replied "yes..." good thing is that they're cheap. just sucks to pay for rudeness. read more

So took a package plus 1 extra lesson. Today was my first lesson which was scheduled for 8am. At 8:03am I got a call from the instructor informing me that he can't make it for 8am (no shit sherlock) he'll be here for 8:30am. At 8:43am he call to inform me that he's downstairs. Cool. Now I've had driving lessons before and you know some of the first things you do is adjust your mirrors. When i told him (Mr.Miller) that i would like to adjust my right mirror his reply was that i don't need it right now. (In my mind I'm like okkkaaaaayyy). Don't know if he saw my expression but he then adjusted it. Cool right before we pulled off i saw my sheet said 8:00-8:45am. I asked him what is my new time, his reply was don't worry I'll get my full 45mins. To that i made sure and check my watch. It's about 8:46am. Ok while driving he asked me to make a broken u turn. While doing this he takes a call. Now I'm trying to complete the broken u-turn but can't because his foot is on the brakes, he's focus on his phone call. So I asked him requested several times for him to remove his foot and he wouldn't because he's absorbed with his phone call so naturally I became irate. His defense is he had to see what I'm doing to which i replied there are no vehicles and your not paying attention. Eventually the person cut the call. So I'm already pissed with that and then he has the nerve to bring me back 10mins early. If I'm paying $40 for 45 mins i want my full 45 mins. I don't make $40 per hour so i expect my money's worth. I've been driving for years now but wanted to review this school. I don't remember my instructor's name but I had a great instructor. He was cool, easy going and made sure I knew everything necessary to pass the road test...which I did on the first try. The prices are affordable, especially in comparison to other driving instruction schools in Brooklyn. I had a different instructor the day of my road test but he was just as cool. I felt comfortable at all times. Like everyone else, I think the office should be torn down, otherwise. Thumbs up! read more

I have 5 lessons with Adams Auto school awhile back. My instructor's name was Clay. I found him to be very impatient. He yelled at me a lot which made me very nervous. I told him I'd never driven before and he was very impatient. Never a word of praise if I did something right. Just a lot of yelling.
