I was very excited This place lived up to it's prior reviews! I had the Huevos Rancheros and devoured the entire entree in 5 minutes. The coffe was delicious as well. Another added bonus, this gem is located down the road from the Dupont mountain bike trails, which is where I headed once I was done with breakfast. My wife and I took some advice from a friend and went from Greenville, SC to Dupont State Park through Caesar's Head in SC. We stopped a few times through SC to do some minor hiking and stuff, but we did not get any drinks at the stores before hitting the mountain. We were tired and looking for a small store to get some things after exiting the mountain and we passed this cafe thinking it was closed. The only thing that said otherwise was the bright open sign (thankfully). I actually passed the cafe and said, "That place was dingy, but let's get some water or something at least." I walked in thinking this was going to be a shack, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was not. The place was clean and warm and really inviting. There was one other couple in the restaurant (who we would meet again hiking in Dupont). We sat down and got a menu and my first thought was honestly, "These prices are kind of high for this little shack." I started with a water and eventually got some sweet tea, which they served in little jars. It was delicious. I could tell it was fresh brewed. The waitress was outstanding. Apparently Deb was out sick, but everyone had a card for her. The waitress we did have was constantly checking with us and talking about the mountain with the other couple. Finally, we ordered some food. My wife got a burger that had goat cheese and a few other things on it (jalapeno I believe) and she basically remarked it was the best burger she had ever had. I tried a good bit of her burger and I can say that it was a pretty amazing burger. The flavors all paired very well. I ordered a bowl of chili. They added onions and cheese, but it doesn't just come with them. She asked if I wanted them. I thought it was interesting for a couple of reasons. The onions were not cooked, but it would not prevent someone who did not like onions from eating the chili. My mom would appreciate that. It also added a different profile to the flavor of the chili. When I make my own chili I sautee the onions and let them stew with everything. This added a crunch to the chili and a different texture. Some people might not like that, but the good thing is it is completely optional! All in all we were so impressed with this place we bought a license plate from them on top of just eating there. My wife really wants to go back there, but it likely won't happen unless we get back in that area. It seems like a very "out of the way" kind of place. If you're going to be in the Dupont State Park area or Caesar's Head, then you really should treat yourself to this restaurant. It's amazing. read more

The GPS is wrong. Stop a half mile short of where you are supposed to and you'll find the CMC. The place is new and staff and owners are friendly and they are at the top of their game. I had an outstanding farm to table breakfast. Much better breakfast than the other established breakfast place in downtown Brevard which was my favorite after first visit yesterday. Cedar Mountain's eggs, bacon and sausage are from local farms not too far away. Bacon Hash was of excellent quality. It's a new restaurant that just opened but the food and service was spot on. Kudos to the owner. It was an early Sunday morning before the church crowd and the place was almost packed. The word must be out out this new hot spot. We went there for breakfast with friends. My wife ordered an omelette with a request; "Please cook it really well done. Brown with blacked edges would be great. I'm not kidding!" It came barely cooked, raw in the center. My wife ate everything else on the plate (she was hungry) but couldn't TOUCH the omelette. I handed it back to the sever, saying "Please tell the cook it would have been nice if he had followed my wife's request rather than doing what ever he wanted." No response all all from the server and of course, no adjustment for the uneatable food. Naturally, we won't be back. read more

Wonderful little gem to end a great girls' weekend in the mountains. There isn't one bad thing I can say about Cedar Mountain Cafe. I had the ham, mushroom & Brie omelette with the potatoes, and toast with an extra side of grits because I love grits. The portions were generous and the seasoning on everything was absolute perfection. The grits were creamy and needed no salt, butter or pepper. I was skeptical about the coffee but even it was robust and delicious! I will gladly drive the 40 minutes from home to eat here again and again. read more

Delicious coffee and food, and great service!! This small joint knows how to cook up some big flavor. The servers were excellent, and we were impressed with their speed throughout our service. Their menu says they pride themselves on making everything in house, and it's apparent in the freshness of their food. We had the biscuits and gravy and the ham & Swiss panini. The biscuits were fluffy, the gravy was rich, the mustard on the panini was top notch, and the pickles were scrumptious. A delicious Saturday brunch! read more

WOW! Fantastic find in an unsuspecting location. During the summer, they are open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch - dinner on Thursday through Sunday. Two Mexican omelettes and Plainie Janie were our choices. Each was tasty, well cooked, and the sauce in the omelette had a hint of a spice. Amy and her new helper were efficient. Photos on canvas or sublimation printing on recycled aluminum were on all the walls. The shine created by the paint and aluminum provided very rich colors. This review is a few years late. I was driving through the forest and stopped here thinking the food would be bad and I'd just get a coffee. I couldn't have been more wrong. The menu was great, healthy, and delicious. (gf and veggie options too). The gal who greeted and served me was very nice and helpful. In fact, as I was leaving my phone stopped working so she gave me HAND WRITTEN DIRECTIONS to my destination!! She told me the directions a few times so I wouldn't get lost. I had never experienced customer service like that before! I hope I get to come back some day. read more

Case study in crappy customer relations: My wife and I have eaten here a dozen times over the past few months. This afternoon we came for lunch. We asked for our usual diet cokes. They were out of diet cokes. So I asked what else was available. She said Sprite, Root Beer, lemonade. I said, OK, I'll have lemonade. After awhile I needed a refill, which I always received with our diet cokes. The waitress said, no refills with lemonade unless you pay for another glass (I wasn't told this when first requested). They provide free refills with their diet coke, which they were out of, but not with their glass of lemonade. I lost my taste for returning to Cedar Mountain Cafe this afternoon - a bit too tight fisted and customer-indifferent/nasty for my taste. It's not as if they aren't on the pricey side already. Creekside Market is much more hospitable and reasonably priced. read more

Stopped here after hiking the falls at Dupont State Park. We were famished and this place was on the way out. It's small with maybe a dozen tables. As soon as we walked in we were seated and had our drink orders taken right away. So much to choose from on the menu I decided to go with a Philly cheesesteak. This was definitely one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. It was piping hot and loaded with meat and cheese. Mom had the turkey Panini and said it was very good. Dad had a mushroom Swiss burger and loved it. I would definitely come back here if I were ever in the area again. read more

This is our 3rd visit to this restaurant. We have always enjoyed the food. Our issue is with the staff attitude. On all three occasions, we felt like "customer satisfaction" was not high on the list of priorities. For example, we ordered a breakfast wrap that came with a choice of bacon or sausage. We asked if the sausage could be put on the side and were told that we would have to order the wrap without meat and then order a side of sausage while paying for the original wrap which included meat??? Another issue was that since we had dogs, we needed to sit in an area with picnic tables. The problem was that the grass was very long and wet which made for an uncomfortable stay for out pets. Another problem was finding the restrooms which you are directed to go around the back of the building and then you must "hunt" for the restrooms since there are no signs to indicate where the restrooms are. No one seemed to want to help with any facet of the visit on all our three visits. Very good food.....very lousy service! read more

Stopped here for lunch before hiking on the recommendation of Yelp. It did not disappoint. Staff were attentive and helpful. I ordered a gyro and was surprised to find it made with chicken instead of the standard beef/lamb mixture. It was quite tasty and I ordered a side of fresh fruit that was nicely ripe and sweet. Prices were standard. Won't blow you away but worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Outside dining and excellent service. Side salads are super with lots of Excellent Fresh toppings. Tried Greek and Cobb, both homeruns. They have daily specials and this night was roasted garlic soup and was creamy with tiny fresh croutons. Pitchers of tea and water was nice to have on table. To start with... this dive is the best find in cedar mountain! The first morning they had blueberry cheesecake crepes. The next day (because we had to go back) they had apple cinnamon crepes with walnuts. Worth every bite! The bacon hash and grits are also a must have! The bacon thick and equally awesome! Stopped here on the way from Greenville, SC back to Ann Arbor. I got a breakfast wrap with chorizo and avocado in it, which was out of this world. The biscuits and gravy were awesome as well, and even the unsweetened iced tea was better than most places. Overall, the food was prepared and plated better than a "gastropub" down in Greenville. Best of all, they source their ingredients locally and responsibly. I love supporting restaurants that get their meats from local farms that raise their animals in a happy environment, and I think Cedar Mountain Cafe is putting fancier restaurants in more popular locations to shame by prominently displaying the sources of their ingredients on their website. I wish this place was in Ann Arbor, I'd go there all the time! It's a windy, hilly drive through the mountains of Cesar's Head state park getting here from SC, but it's a quick, easy drive from Brevard, NC. read more

Food was great. But we watched at least four tables that came in after us eat and leave before we got our food. Just know they might lose your ticket and you may have to wait an hour and thirty minutes for four very simple orders with no changes made to them. We arrived at 10 am I know because we asked if there where still serving breakfast and the manager said "we are still serving breakfast for another hour! " so we where glad and waited to be seated. They put some people in our group separate so we had two tables of four. We placed our orders and waited a full 1 and 30 minutes to get our very simple orders. The other half of our group at a different table ate their food, paid, and left and we still waited another thirty minutes to receive our food. We where told many times that our food was coming until finally an manager came after an hour and told us our ticket had been "stopped" so I guess lost. And then it was started. An hour after we had placed our order. We received our food at 11:34 and placed it around 10. They comped the meal but it was still ridiculous we watched four tables that came in after us eat there food and leave before we even received ours. read more

I was a little bummed that they didn't have any nonpork breakfast meats, but I had the mushroom Swiss omelette and it was excellent.
