I will be honest, never heard of this place until I saw them pop up on the Too good To Go app, so figured no better time to try them than a discounted meal. I walk in and was greeted by the friendly employee behind the counter. Very cute little grocery store/restaurant serving international food. I checked out the grocery side while I wanted on my meal to be fixed. They had so many items, ones I admit I didn't quite know what they were but that's the beauty of it all lol. Anyways my food comes up, and let me tell it was delish! So flavorful and fresh! It was so good I had to go back the next day. And believe me when I say I'm gonna keep going back. Great experience.

A unique combination of grocery store and restaurant, allowed us to browse the aisles while waiting for our food. We took the employee's suggestion to order several items and enjoy them family-style was spot-on, allowing us to sample a wide range of flavors in one sitting. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the grilled mix platter, which featured lamb chops, beef shawarma, and kebobs. We were pleasantly surprised by the soujouk, a dish we were unfamiliar with, but found to be incredibly tasty. One minor drawback was the parking lot had limited space and tight parking spots. Otherwise, good food at a reasonable price.

This store in a hidden gem! Amazing food from Middle East to East Africa.... Vast assortment of items from incense to henna.. Saffron Water... We had lamb shank and chicken salad. The service was great... I highly recommend this place for a lunch to groceries.

a tray of food with meat and vegetables

You may skip it just because it is not a fancy restaurant, then that will be the biggest mistake from you! Lamb on the rice is definitely the best of the best lamb! So soft and just melted in the mouth! Amazing good! Everything is great, but eat at the store seems not the best choice! Take out and enjoy it at home or Freedom park when weather is cool will make it even better, definitely will come again and again!

Ugh, I was Just here yesterday picking up some dinner and groceries and my husband ate ALL the tabouli! Now I have to return! Oh well! Worse things have happened! Ha! Here's a photo of their menu and the meaty part of the grocery!

Found this place off a delivery site and it did not disappoint! The flavor profile was just the right amount of spice. It was easy to taste all parts of each dish. We ordered the Kabob Shawarma (beef) Wraps, Fava Beans, and the Chickpea Salad. The only reason I rated a 4 instead of a 5 is they forgot to add the pita, but we made do with some wraps we had on hand. Plan to try some other things out here in the future. Bonus: you're supporting a small business and we need to keep those around in this city!

The door directly into the dining area is never open so don't break your arm trying to open it like I almost did. But do walk in through the grocery store and make sure to greet the staff and you can take a seat in one of the red booths and they will wait on you. The food is good quality. The presentation is not spectacular, but there are few other places in town where you can get a $3 falafel sandwich that tastes this good. Other items are also extremely reasonably priced. Their sandwiches are pita wraps but satisfyingly filling. Ideal for lunch or a quick meal to go. Get the hummus or falafel appetizer for something extra to keep you going.

Way to expansive for Halel. Beef sold as tender but was the opposite very tough. Service is ok.

Food was not fresh, bland, and overall unappetizing. I love this Middle Eastern food, but this was a disappointing meal.

Very authentic. Everything we ate was prepared well and tasty. It's in a modest spot but don't let that stop you from coming!

The kabobs are perfectly seasoned and cooked, the rice is amazing, and the portions are generous enough that you definitely won't leave hungry. The lentil soup and garlic sauce are must-tries. Service is friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has that comforting, no-frills vibe where the food speaks for itself. Whether you're dining in or taking it to go, it always hits the spot. If you're craving authentic, satisfying Mediterranean food, this place is a gem. Highly recommend.

They have a huge menu with plenty of options, and everything we tried tasted great. It's primarily a restaurant, but you can also buy packed food items which is a nice bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed the food here. They served generous portions of babaganoush and hummus -- both were delicious. They also gave us complimentary lentil soup, and it was surprisingly good. For entrees, we ordered the lamb shank, which was juicy, tender, and absolutely amazing. The adana kabab was top notch with incredible flavor. The chicken shawarma and chicken kabab could have been a bit more tender, but still enjoyable overall. They also have a large selection of desserts on the menu, so definitely save some room if you can. Overall, we had a great experience at La Shish Kabob -- warm hospitality, big portions, and flavorful food. Would definitely go back!

Since we were short on time, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The portions were mostly bread with a low amount of protein, and the overall flavor was below average. For anyone familiar with authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, this would fall far short of expectations. The pricing was also hard to justify. We spent nearly $90 and it barely fed three people. During our stay in Charlotte, we had multiple sit-down meals averaging around $20 per person, yet these to-go wraps ended up costing more, and they even want more to give us a couple extra sauces! Based on taste, portion size, and value, I would rate this place no higher than a 2/10.

For the $24 I spent for a takeaway kebab sandwich and a soft drink, I could've gotten a full sit-down Indian meal at the other end of Tryon. How was the actual food? I mean, it was fine. But I won't be back again any time soon.

As someone who spent years in the San Francisco Bay Area, I really missed having reliable…read moreMediterranean and Greek options when I moved to Charlotte. One of my favorite spots back then was Nick the Greek--the bowls were simple, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. So naturally, I went on a little search mission here to find something that could scratch that same itch. That's how I landed at Yaffo Kitchen. Close, but no cigar--but still very good. I visit both the Dilworth location off East Boulevard and the Plaza Midwood spot fairly often, and they've become dependable places when I'm craving Mediterranean flavors. The atmosphere is casual, bright, and welcoming. I especially appreciate the option to sit inside when it's blazing hot outside, and when the weather is nice, their covered patio with umbrellas is a great place to linger over a meal. Now let's talk about the schnitzel--because that's the star for me. I know schnitzel isn't the first thing people expect at a Mediterranean-style restaurant, but they do it right. It's made to order, thin, crispy, and coated in panko, served with a fresh slice of lemon that brings everything together. I usually pair it with a side salad, but if the mac and cheese is piping hot that day, that's my backup plan. Another thing I really enjoy is their drink selection. They carry Tractor beverages--non-carbonated organic teas made with cane sugar and no high-fructose corn syrup or preservatives. There are several flavors to choose from, and they're refreshing without being overly sweet. It's a small detail, but one I genuinely appreciate. I've also had the roasted chicken, which was surprisingly excellent--juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying without being heavy. And the pita? Warm, soft, and dangerously easy to keep eating. One lesson I've learned the hard way: edit yourself when building a bowl. The first few times I went, I got excited and piled on too many toppings, and everything blended into one big, goopy situation where you couldn't really taste anything distinctly. It's like wearing all your favorite accessories at once--individually they're beautiful, but together they compete with each other. Less really is more here, and once you find the right balance, the flavors shine. Prices are reasonable for the quality, service is quick, and the restaurants are consistently clean and well-run. I believe they offer beer and wine as well, though I usually stick to the teas. While I'm still on the hunt for that exact bowl I used to love back in California--simple, balanced, and unforgettable--Yaffo Kitchen has definitely earned a regular spot in my rotation. Check it out, experiment with the menu, find your palate's favorites, and remember: life is too short not to eat well.
