The meatloaf was moist and cooked to perfection, as were the broccoli and mash potatoes with gravy. The fried chicken was crispy and moist. But I have to say the star of the show for me was the Asian Crunch salad! Fresh, flavorful, savory with bits of sweet and tons of texture. We'll be going back for another date night her soon!

The first time was in November 2025 and 2nd time March 2026 where the bartenders were professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and made some of the best Bloody Marys we've had in Charlotte. The food was excellent, and we left both times excited to come back. Unfortunately, this Sunday's visit (around 2 p.m.) felt like a different restaurant. It was much busier, and service was noticeably lacking. We waited quite a while just to be acknowledged, our drinks weren't nearly the quality they had been before, and the Bloody Mary tasted like it came straight from a mix instead of being handcrafted like our previous visits. The food was also disappointing. It was much saltier than we remembered, and we never received the Caesar salad with steak we ordered. To the staff's credit, it wasn't on our bill, so we didn't mention it. Overall, no one was rude, but the attention to detail, professionalism, and overall experience that earned our previous five-star reviews just wasn't there this time. We're hoping this was simply an off day because we genuinely loved this place and would like to see it return to the high standard that made us regular customers.

Hard to beat for the area. The ambiance is great -- exactly the kind of spot you want to catch an NFL game with a group. Our server was friendly and attentive, which always makes a difference. The wings were solid -- we went with the deep fried and grilled option, which came out well. My only note would be that I'd love to see a strictly grilled wing option on the menu for those who prefer it. A small ask, but it would make this place even more of a go-to. Will definitely be back for game day. Gem of a find in South End.

We made a reservation, but it did not appear to be necessary because the place was only half full. We sat at a four top on the covered patio area and placed a couple orders for drinks and appetizers. I had a strawberry mocktail that was actually decent and served in a cup glass, which elevated the experience and presentation. my friend ordered the polar express which looked like a espresso martini, but apparently was not one. We started with fried zucchini bites and chicken nuggets. Our reservation was for 7 PM, but we did not receive our drinks until at least 730 and our first appetizer did not appear until after 8 PM. We then placed our order for the main entrée. I got the quarter south with the kale quinoa, side salad and my friends got a couple sandwiches. The food arrived around 8:30 PM by which point we were all very hungry. One of my friends had to ask for the side of honey mustard multiple times before we finally got an extra dipping sauce as far as flavor goes the nuggets and zucchini fries were OK at best not bad but definitely nothing to write home about and they took forever to come out. I liked my quarter south enough, the leg and the thigh but the kale quinoa salad was just too bland it was dressed, but definitely not enough or they just need a better dressing something with more flavor and zing. We didn't even bother asking for a dessert menu because we did not want to be held hostage any longer. Price wise it was pretty on point with other restaurants in the area, but overall this place was just very slow and did not live up to expectations as one of my friends had been here a while back and was actually a regular I think. Because the service was so slow I got my ticket validated, but it exceeded the two hours so I still had to pay for parking which was a little bit annoying considering I waited over an hour for appetizers. Unfortunately, this one was a miss. @azfitfoodfun

I didn't do the restaurant week menu but I did get the penguin burger meal. It was a double patty smash burger with truffle fries. The meal was great and tasted delicious... as expected with the name. I like this little gem of a restaurant and would definitely go back for their burgers. The environment is pretty laid back and easy with kids. They have a free game room which was an added bonus. Overall I like the place and recommend if you are searching for a good smash burger.

The servers were also very nice and friendly. However, a few things held the experience back: Atmosphere & Layout: First, don't let the name fool you--it's not actually a drive-in. Walking into the lobby, I was hit with a stale, dank, musty smell, which seemed to be coming from the restrooms located right at the front entrance. The waiting bench was cluttered with high piles of boxes, which didn't make the best first impression, and the hand towel dispenser in the ladies' room was out of order. The Food: I paid $11 for five skinny, dry wings paired with a watery blue cheese dressing. For "jumbo" wings, they were pretty mid. The menu overall feels like it could use an upgrade (Bad Daddy's Burgers right across the street sets a much better benchmark for this type of casual spot burger). The staff and the playlist were fun, but between the lacking atmosphere and disappointing food, it falls right in the middle for me.

From the moment we sat down, our waiter Ray took incredible care of our family. He was attentive, personable, and made sure every part of our meal was exactly what we wanted. We went all in on the menu and every dish delivered. The fried gator bites with remoulade were crispy and perfectly seasoned, the grilled shrimp salad was fresh and beautifully plated, and the fried shrimp po'boy (loaded with a tangy Cajun aioli) was a standout. We also loved the homemade potato chips and the fried plantain salad with their signature "Confusion Spice" such a fun, flavorful touch that ties the whole menu together. Honestly though, Ray's service is what made the dining truly special. He struck the perfect balance of being present without hovering, checked in at all the right moments, and just had such a genuinely warm energy the whole time. You could tell he actually cared about us having a great experience, not just doing his job. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be requesting Ray every time. If you go, ask for him phenomenal!
