Passing through Flagstaff traveling from Florida to California and came across the Cedar House Coffee Shop. This is a quaint little shop with tons of charm. A great place to sit and enjoy your coffee and read a book or have a conversation with a friend sharing one of their awesome pastries! I've been back three times and we've only been here a few days. The pastries are outstanding! I'm a die-hard scone enthusiast and these are some of the best I've ever eaten. The only reason I didn't give this establishment a 5-star rating is because of parking. They only have a few spots in front of the store and every time I've been here, they have been full. My husband has to drop me off and then come back and pick me up. I've seen cars trying to find somewhere to park and then just end up driving off because they can't get a parking spot. I've seen this every time I've been here this week. I hate to see such a great place lose business. It's so worth it if you can find a place to park. read more

Adorable coffee shop with a great vibe. Barista was knowledgeable and passionate about everything there. I got an amazing pumpkin chai, it was so creamy and frothy even with my almond milk request! The house made raspberry puff pastry was amazing but the cronut which we were told wasn't made in house was on the dry side. Found the place online while we were on our way to Antelope Canyon. I was sold with the picture of their pastry display. Once we got there, they did not disappoint. The decor was cute. I'm probably biased since I grew up there, but I think Flagstaff has the best coffee culture of any town in Arizona. Flagstaff boasts several good independent coffeehouses--Macy's, Late For The Train, Campus Coffee Bean, WickedAZ, etc-- many of which were around and thriving long before Starbucks came along (and yes, they've got a couple of those in town, if you must.) Cedar House is a newcomer to the scene, and is unique in that I believe it is the only coffee shop on the East side of town - other than Brandy's of course, which is really a restaurant that happens to serve coffee drinks. In fact, Cedar House is less than a mile from where I grew up! I can remember when this building was a little convenience store called Ponderosa Market. My parents would pick up a loaf of bread or some milk there, if the old AJ Bayless Supermarket--over in what used to be the Cedar Pines Shopping Center--was closed. In the summer, sometimes my mom would give us each a dollar to walk down and buy a candy bar or a Creamsicle out of the ice cream cooler that was right by the register (yes I am really, really dating myself!) Over the years the building has also been a thrift shop, a martial arts dojo and an MMA gym, among other things. But recently I was in town for a visit, and my dad told me that it was now a coffee house. We decided to meet over there for a cup. I was immediately impressed when I walked in the door; the owners have done a terrific job on the place! It has a warm, homey feeling, almost more like you're walking into someone's living room, rather than a coffee shop. There's a cozy fireplace, a TV, and a scattering of antiques and knick-knacks. There are a few chairs and tables, but most of the seating is comfortable chairs and couches with decorative tables like you'd find in a friend's house. In fact if there's anything to criticize about Cedar House it might be that the seating is a bit sparse, but I noticed a near-empty room adjacent to the counter, and I suspect perhaps the owners plan to add some more seating in there. There are a handful of outdoor tables as well. My dad ordered a cup of black coffee--he's not much for fancy coffee drinks--while I ordered my usual drink, a cafe latte. I appreciate that Cedar House has almond milk available, great for those of us who can't eat dairy but don't like soy! My drink was excellent, as was the cinnamon coffee cake I ordered, which the owner/barista graciously offered to warm up for me! Cedar House gets their pastries from Sugar Mama's Bakery, and also has sandwiches from the Stage Left Deli available, wrapped up and ready to go in their cold case. Cedar House may be new to Flagstaff but they are off to a great start. Whether you live in Flagstaff or are just passing through, stop by for coffee and conversation. I know I will be! It's a little off the beaten path but it is definitely worth seeking out! read more

Atmosphere: There was a lot of thought that went into this place and it is very trendy. It looks as though pinterest exploded all over the building, but not in a bad way. I loved the music as you walked in, which makes sense when I realized it was connected to a church. Either way it made me feel at home. Prices: For two coffees and two pastries it was around $10. I will take it! Coffee and Pastries: I ordered a regular iced coffee and my boyfriend ordered a black and white mocha. Both coffees were made perfectly and tasted delicious! I wanted to love this place but it was 1) very expensive ($11 for a cold brew and a square of coffee cake), 2) did not have wifi (they said it "kept going out" but I never saw a network at all), 3) did not have parking except for to-go, and 4) did not have a restroom available for customers.
