If you are looking for a cute brunch shop in Mainstrasse, this is the place to go! They have a variety of cocktails and food items to choose from. I got the Kentucky cold brew ($10) and it was pretty watered down and not very strong. I definitely don't recommend, but my friend got the strawberry mimosa and loved it. For food we decided to share a cinnamon flat bread ($11) and the hangover bowl ($12). The flatbread was super delicious and not overly sweet! And the hangover bowl was equally good. I loved the potatoes and chorizo! The wait for here on the weekend is pretty long so we definitely recommend making a reservation if you can or getting there early. First time, won't be the last either! Cedar is a modern contemporary brunch spot just off the banks of the Ohio River. The exposed brick interior, mixed with wood and open dining area provides an ice atmosphere to enjoy a bite to eat. Not too mention the outside patio, which is fairly shaded. Biscuit Bowl was my menu item of choice .. it did not disappoint! The gravy was savory, chorizo wasn't overpowering, though it was the biscuit which did it for me! Who knew that Kentucky had such good brunch? I sure didn't; we went over the bridge to this cute area, and went to cedar. It is a beautiful location, just go check out the inside, and they also have clever art. The staff here is so friendly and awesome! It was really great. To drink I had the devils punch bowl Bloody Mary, and it came in a little fishbowl and was delicious and spicy! I also got the table the Cuba libre 27 which is a Lamarca bottle with fresh juices. To eat I had coffee encrusted fillet mignon, with a sunny egg and chimchuri, on a bed of breakfast potatoes. It was amazing, and I smashed the whole plate. Fantastic area with a great atmosphere and attentive service. Cedar is a fun brunch spot, but for me the food fell a bit short. Now this may come off as a bit over-critical because I will be comparing this to their offshoot Latin inspired location, Yuca. Yuca was amazing and creative. Cedar's menu was a little bit less fun and the quality of the food was more inconsistent. Even the dishes that were similar to Yuca's lacked its flare. Another amazing brunch/lunch at Cedar in Covington. My husband and I decided to take the day off and enjoy some time together. For us, a "must have" is brunch somewhere fun. So glad we stopped in at Cedar. We sat on their patio (it was steamy out, but they have plenty of umbrellas). It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy nature. The service was great, even though we were the only people on the patio, we never felt like our server forgot us. Food was fantastic - as always. Had a wonderful first experience here! No reservation required which was awesome, we arrived an hour after they opened on a Sunday and promptly had a table for six set up. They also brought us each a single rose which was very sweet and unexpected. They have coffee and boozy coffee, breakfast and lunch options. Visiting a friend in NKY, she was excited to take us to Cedar, raving about their awesome brunch! We were able to find street parking (free on weekends) pretty easily around 10 AM on a Saturday. We were given a 45-50 minute wait time for a party of 3, which was slightly surprising, as their Google page revealed that the usual wait time is less than 15 minutes. The hostess let us know that we could wait on the back patio and get drinks while we waited. The patio did have heaters and plenty of seating which was nice as it was pretty chilly. We warmed up with some coffees while we waited and were called for our table after about 50 minutes. Since we'd had plenty of time to look at the menus while we waited, after being seated we told our waitress we were ready to order. We started out with the cinnamon flatbread and I ordered avocado toast with eggs that was served with fruit as a side. The avocado toast was definitely distinctive, served with a walnut craisin crumble. It was not what I was expecting but fun to try! This one has been on my "to visit" list for awhile and it is absolutely worth the wait! First, I love that they offer the brunch menu all week, that way I can mix and match my favorites any day. They also have a cute little cart outside that appears to sell beer if you're interested in enjoying while you wait. We sat outside on the amazing patio. There are a lot of plants and we had a little issue with bees and flies, so beware of that. The cocktail menu has great variety and I enjoyed the Cedar Mosa. Can't wait to go back and try some others. Had the V Club as my main and it was great. The rest of the table enjoyed the burger and the chicken thigh salad, all of which looked amazing. Our first and likely only visit to Cedar was quite the mixed bag. We entered the building and stopped at what looked like what may have been a host station and waited as several employees passed by. Several minutes passed before someone casually walked up holding their cellphone and a cup of water and said they'd be with us shortly. They proceeded to clean off a table right next to us then said "follow me" and we all walked passed that table to the middle of the restaurant. We sat at a still wet table where the last customers bill was still sitting. Did they pick up the bill and pen and hastily wipe the table then place it back down? Odd. We went in expecting a wait but got seated almost as soon as we were noticed. Once seated another waiting game began. It took around 5-10 minutes (closer to 10) before our server finally approached our table. Thankfully we ordered immediate as I'm not sure how long it would've taken them to return. My wife ordered the coffee filet mignon and I ordered the burger. The food actually came out fairly quickly and our server checked in on us very shortly after. The coffee filet mignon was fantastic. Bursting with flavor and very tender. Oddly they chose to not give a steak knife so cutting it was quite the challenge especially with it sitting in a bed of delicious little breakfast potatoes. Unfortunately the burger was the exact opposite of the filet mignon. While the burger looked delicious it was severely lacking in flavor. I was excited as it was advertised as 80/20 ground beef and goetta but I couldn't taste the goetta at all. Heck, the burger itself was virtually flavorless. The unseasoned greens on it had more flavor and even overpowered the rest of the burger. The aioli left an odd aftertaste and the bacon jam was sparse. The fries were a dead ringer for Penn Station which isn't bad but I expected... different. Once we were done eating another game of waiting began. Our server hadn't checked on us since right after the food hit the table. I watched as they meandered around never once looking our direction and only occasionally looking busy. I had received a text at about the same time we took our last bites so I had a good time stamp to go by. Nearly 20 minutes later we were about to get up and ask to pay at the bar when the server walked by one more time and we were finally able to ask to be cashed out. The restaurant itself is beautiful but the acoustics are dreadful. It was so loud when our server was trying to take our order that we were practically screaming at each other and could still barely hear one another. read more

I found this restaurant because of good reviews on yelp. I wanted to try a new place for brunch. I wish you could give half stars on here. Definitely better than a 3, but not quite a 4. Solid 3.5 's. We tried to call ahead because I figured there would be a long wait. The phone rang and rang and rang, but no one ever answered. When we arrived, we were told that the wait would be 30-45 minutes. I ran and grabbed a coffee across the street and we stood in the entry way. I overheard that they did a call ahead option, which was a little frustrating since no one answered when I called. Anyways, we were seated right at 45 minutes. Our server was very friendly and great at her job. We ordered the Cedar Burger and Chicken & Waffles. The chicken & waffles were decent. You know how sometimes the chicken is pretty darn good but the waffle is an afterthought? That's how it felt. The burger was good. The fries were good but really needed another 30 seconds of frying. The food wasn't bad but it's nothing that I'd drive 30 minutes for again and wait an additional 45 for. Believe the rave reviews about Cedars! Everything good I read about Cedars was true. The food (husband had the filet mignon with eggs and I had bacon with sough dough toast) was delicious. The atmosphere is classy casual. The staff was super friendly. There was a twenty minute wait for a table (which would have been so worth the wait), but we were able to snag a "bar seat" immediately. Typically, I am not a fan of sitting bar side, but this was especially nice. Our server, Hannah G, was awesome. I hope all the staff is so attentive and friendly (I bet they are). The Perfect Spot... ALMOST We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised with a 15 minute wait. The restaurant is modern, accented with beautiful decor and plenty of natural light. Our server was attentive and gave great suggestions. All of our food was FANTASTIC. We ordered the chicken and waffles, the omelette with shrimp. I had a delicious coffee with mocha creamer and hubby a spiked coffee... it's strong btw. The flavors were not traditional, which was met with open arms.. someone put a lot of thought into every item that crossed our lips. We are from Florida and stopped here for brunch based on a locals recommendation for a good Bloody Mary. The Devils Punch had the perfect spice and taste. But the NOLA omelette with shrimp and crab crème blew us away. Our waiter Thomas also let us sample the Goetta which is a popular meat in Cincinnati and it has us searching for recipes to try it at home. Food: I ordered the Taco Belly. 4 good sized tacos loaded with more than enough pork belly along with pickled red onion, an avocado-lime cream sauce and cilantro. Very tasty, and plenty to eat. Came with a house slaw that was , I think, a vinegar based instead of a mayo based. Matched up really well with the tacos. My wife ordered the V CLUB. Sixteen Bricks 11 grain bread, avocado, heirloom tomato, pickled red onion, arugula, spicy garlic mushroom paste, organic agave. Quite a bit of food! Plus fries! She enjoyed it thoroughly. Tried to come here on a super hot day in the summer and waiting was torture so we went somewhere else, but today we decided to go back early in the morning and got in right away. The ambiance was cool and the open windows is really awesome on a nice day. We sat at the bar although there were many tables open, and the bartender was so friendly and helpful. Yesterday we ate at Yuca and were blown away by their flavors. I believe Yuca was the second of the this owners two restaurants. We figured if Yuca was the second that Cedar would be even better. It had the same feel when we walked in as their other restaurant did as it was clean, open and pretty. I was excited to try their food and we started with their guacamole. It was amazing and the chips are freshly made and salted well! If you don't have a great love of salt, as I do, then I would ask for lite salt. He ordered the fat Zach. It's one of those things where we could tell the flavors were on point but we ordered wrong. He didn't like how much corn flavor the tortilla hAd..lol silly, I know, but he thought the corn overtook the other flavors. I had a couple bites and it was very flavorful... I ordered the burger.. i forgot to take pics of the menu and it's changed since the website menu... but I think it was described as a blackened burger with shrimp and sausage cream on top and aioli spread. They were awesome to put both on the side as my husband won't eat shrimp and I'm not a fan of aioli. Everything was flavorful and very good with the burger!! Rounding to a 4 stars, but I would give it 3.5! I have been here twice now... the first time I was NOT impressed with the food or the service. It was Sunday. Around 11am. A group of 5 and we had to wait forever. They initially said the wait was 40 minutes and then kept adding 15 more minutes. 15 more turned into a 1.5hr wait and I was NOT happy about it. The biscuits were raw, service was slow, and the food was just ok. I understand, no staff and high demand... so I gave them another chance. Came back with a friend. Got there early. And it was a different experience. Like this was not the same place I visited a few weeks back. The West Indies omelet was good. Great flavors and fair portion. The hangover was also good, although on the spicy-er side. My friend couldn't finish it. It was Sunday, so all females were given roses, which I thought was a nice touch. This place is definitely gonna see the likes of me again. I got a seat as soon as I walked in. The people here are very nice and very welcoming. The interior is very simple, chill, and makes you feel like you could stay there allll day chillllllllllllen lol. I was having trouble deciding between the cedar burger and the hangover. I ended up getting the cedar burger and it didn't disappoint. It came out cooked perfectly and the egg in there was the cherry on top. The fries had the right amount of crisp and the right amount of salt/pepper. I added some avocado on the side cause I'm low-key an avocado addict. For dessert I got the cinnamon roll Flatbread. I was super excited for it but it fell a little short. My problem with is was the vanilla icing. It made the flatbread way to sweet. I ended up scraping off most of it and that made it much better. So get this. I was walking around Mainstrasse visiting my friend who lives there. We were really wanting a bite to eat, and I LOVEEEE a good brunch. She recommended Cedar! AH! We were seated by the sweetest hostess, who gave us a beautifullllll red rose! I almost cried. It was just so cute. This made me even more excited for what I was about to experience. We came for brunch on a Saturday which meant the kitchen was backed up. I'm not afraid of a reasonable wait time due to demand, but some entrees for our party took over an hour. Once we got the food we were mostly pleased with the quality, although some things were cold and a little under seasoned. The drinks were good and the ambience was nice. Facilities seem to be relatively clean and looked after which is some thing I value a lot. As a resident of Mainstrasse, I've seen you animals tearing up my neighborhood (Not actually, you're welcome here and I hope you love the Cov as much as I do) to snag a spot at a boozy brunch at Cedar. You've been waiting in lines, baking in the sun, and pounding mimosas on the patio for as long as they've been open... I've seen you! Alas, it was time I made my way to Cedar to experience the little slice of brunch heaven that they bring to Mainstrasse. I popped by for a lunch meeting during the week. It was super quiet with lots of available tables (a stark contrast from the weekend brunch). I wasn't really in the mood for breakfast food, so I opted for the steak tacos, but had a piece of the candied bacon (which was delicious, I could have eaten 10 pieces). The steak tacos did not disappoint. There was lots of flavor and the slaw was also delicious. Service was great and a manager even checked up on us at the end of the meal to see how everything was. I live a short walk from Cedar and they've definitely earned a return visit from a local fan. High fives Cedar, way to make Mainstrasse even more awesome! read more
