Best coffee in Spokane. Cedar was previously Couer Coffee in location. The new owner was a 1 to 2 times a day regular at Couer. He's from the Ukraine where he still has a coffee shop - that he checks the web cam of regularly. The cafe in the Ukraine is very popular because they basically smuggle in quality coffee that no one else has, and make the effort to make it right. Well, that kind of care about quality persists with Cedar. Everyone that works at Cedar makes the best espresso they can, and if the pulls are not exactly what they want, they remake it. They talk about the flavors, and develop their own syrups. The owner also personally tries every roast, and likes to develop blends. The coffee is from Roast House, which sounds like a generic name but is perhaps the most meticulous roaster in the area. The old roaster from Couer (when they could roast) moved on to work at Roast House and informed me he has learned a lot about what it takes to run a consistent higher scale roasting company. Currently he baristas one or two days a week. *Mini update, the Hibiscus spiced tea is boss So maybe you are asking, where did the other star go? It isn't about the coffee, service, or parking. For me there is a tension between aesthetics and intention. It looks a bit more like a more common coffee shop that is a mini clone for Starbucks. But I would still like to see them participate in the Art Walk, and change Art every month like so many coffee shops that support art. *Update: I have heard good things about expanding on things that turn a place to get coffee into a beloved community business, coming up. I will be pleased to add another star. *Update 2: Things are picking up. Art changed, signage is greatly improved, among all sorts of things. The owner could not be more serious about making the best coffee, and coffee shop he can. *Update 3: The shop has improved food options, which is greatly appreciated. I like the small russian cookies a lot, they got great with a coffee, not too sweet, not too big. But if I am more hungry I really like the bread for toast. That bread is unlike all the other local breads I have had by far. read more

This used to be Couer Coffee, and now are known as Cedar Coffee. This place is amazing! They've redecorated and everything inside looks spotless I mean even the bathroom looks so much better than what it was before! I didn't get to talk to much to the manager she was busy taking orders, great gal though! Good aura about her, she did tell me that the new owners are refugees from Ukraine, who were regular customers when this place was once Couer Coffee! Much success to this place. Oh and their coffee is from Roast House, and it's mighty darn good! read more

Cedar Coffee is easily the BEST coffee I have had in Spokane. The espresso is flavorful, and has a wonderful depth and richness. The owners are friendly, inviting, and truly make this coffee shop feel like home. I would 100% recommend Cedar to anyone looking for a fun study spot, welcoming environment, or delicious cup of Joe. read more

It's super relaxing to enjoy your drink and get some work done on your phone or computer and the coffee is literally incredible. Try the Cold Brew Iced Coffee with Vanilla/Raw Sugar and creamer if you have a sweet tooth like me...you won't be disappointed. I just got back from there. Parking is a challenge. I parked out front in the pay meter. (Cheap) coffee was excellent and the people were wonderful. The bakery items were excellent. Stopped by here for coffee with a friend and holy moly! They have some of the best coffee I've ever tasted! I bought a 12 Oz caramel latte and it was sooooo good! Like the location and atmosphere, unfortunately when asking for a decaf pour over I was told they only do pour overs with specific coffees. I got an explanation that it was all very scientific and that they hadn't come up with a ratio on the decaf. That is when I understood that they won't do them. Then after agreeing to a regular, the pour over machine was unplugged. All I can think is the barista wasn't versed. Not sure we'll be back, and won't be recommending this place. read more

Cedar isn't just a reopened Coeur; it's a little more mellow and a little less hipster (less taxidermy, more carpet) and it serves Roast House coffee (organic, ethically-sourced, and delicious). The story I heard is the new owners were fans of Coeur, so when Coeur went under they decided to take over the space. I think they're new to the coffee business, but I also think they're doing things right. I'll be back for sure. read more

Amazing! I stopped in to kill some time and found that this place is a fantastic local gem! This place clearly knows good coffee, I ordered an espresso drink which was one of the best I've had in a really long time! The barrista was very attentive and even asked what scale of sweetnees I wanted in my drink. A great place to pop in or to sit and stay a while. read more

The service was outstanding, Igor was so friendly and helpful. We tried a beautifully smooth and creamy Anise Latte. We also tried Sea Buckhorn juice (bright orange and fresh similar to an orange juice with less orange and more spices) and a Cardamon Latte that was superb. I wanted to do 3.5 stars so I rounded up :) I walked up as someone was pulling the sidewalk sign inside. It was raining so I didn't think much of it. I opened the door and realized they must be closing. I politely asked if that was the case and was told that the machine hadn't been cleaned yet so I could get a coffee but I had to take it to go. I appreciated that but I got some attitude from the barista. She wasn't super kind with how the message was relayed and wasn't friendly at all while taking my order or while paying. If she didn't want to do it all she had to say was that they were closed. Coffee was good but I didn't feel like it was anything super special. There are a ton of coffee shops in Spokane so this one didn't make the top of my list. read more

My favorite coffee shop in Spokane! Simple decor with plenty of tables to sit at to study or catch up with some friends. The baristas are friendly and seem to know what they're doing as I have yet to have a bad cup of coffee. The prices are a bit steeper compared to a general drive thru coffee stand, but the overall experience makes it worth it. read more

Great espresso drinks - drip coffee was horrible, almost undrinkable. Order a latte with homage syrup and you will be pleased.
