Awesome modernized gem in town! Really glad this place is local to my residence. Cecils has has great food, good vibes, and is aesthetically modern compared to other venues (In my opinion). I normally get the Seafood Pasta, Chicken Wings, and French Fries. My Buddy normally orders the Steaks (Both Filet Mignon and Ribeye) Medium-Rare, and they look delicious every time. This place has both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an upstairs dining area. It's nicely decorated and displays the "Louisiana/LSU" spirit. Definitely a nice spot and a must visit for the area!

Cajun restaurant located in the heart of DeRidder's downtown area. Very cool small town vibe, very LSU focused! Ambiance is chill and relaxed, service is excellent. The food was ok, ordered the chicken salad - lots of chicken but not a lot of salad. Good selection of beers of draft. Looks like a good place to watch a football game or hang on a weeknight. If you are in town, go!

Food was delicious!! Service awesome! The restaurant decor fits the Louisiana life. Absolutely my favorite night time place. I've never had a bad meal or drink here.

We had a nice date night here, the cocktails could be bigger but that's alright. I had the seafood po boy and it was very good!

The pickle juice. Yummy!

We drove several hours to come here lost Hurricane Laura and glad we did. It was recommended by several locals and definitely a happening spot. Full and busy right up to closing. The staff was very friendly and wore masks the whole time. The tables were not socially distanced. The food was. Annot range of local and traditional fare. Started off with wings and friend Boudin balls. The wings were a little on the small side but they were tasty along with the balls. My dish was the fried seafood samplers. Found it to be very yummy and good portions for a sampler. Multiple pieces of shrimp and everything with one deviled crab. The other folks in my party enjoyed their meals as well. On a random, I saw several severs taking what I thought was a shot. It actually was a shot of frozen picked juice, no alcohol. I actually like pickle juice and took them up on it. First time I was it like that. I liked it and if you want something different I suggest trying it out. Come enjoy some local food in this town!

Combeaux platter jambalaya was my favorite

This place is a gem! My fiancé and I recently moved to the area from New Orleans and decided to check this place out based on all the amazing Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Cecil's is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating with multiple tvs all throughout. Service was fast. Waiters were friendly. Food was good. We ordered the fried mushrooms, fish tacos, and combeaux platter. The jambalaya and fish tacos were amazing. We will definitely be coming back.

It's larger than it appears and is very clean. It is handicapped accessible, thankfully, with a ramp on the side and very large bathrooms. The menu is a la carte and the meat is sold by weight, so it is easy to over order by mistake. (I did, severely underestimating how much 1/3 of a pound was. So, I ended up with a generous portion of leftovers for my lunch the next day. Definitely a win-win scenario.) My husband and I both had the 1/3 lb pulled pork and a link of the jalapeño cheddar sausage (also approximately 1/3 lb). There was their own BBQ sauce on the table that others in my party liked, but I thought the pork was very well seasoned as is. The sausage was probably the best I've had, with a great jalapeño taste and lots of cheddar chunks throughout. The casing had a wonderful snap. My DIL had the brisket, so juicy and tender, and my son had the smoked turkey - really a superior meat. I chose the macaroni & cheese as a side. It was super creamy and had green chilies throughout, giving it a nice heat. My husband had the baked beans which he really enjoyed. The other side ordered was the tater tot casserole. That was knock-your-socks-off delicious. It made the famous chain restaurant ("CB") version of hash brown casserole pale in comparison. Seriously, it was unbelievably delicious. Every plate (tray) came with a homemade cucumber pickle and pickled onions, nice to cut the delicious meats' "fattiness." There was also a sweet cornbread muffin that tasted more dessert-y than side dish-y. A lovely young gentleman came out of the kitchen while we were eating to offer us a sample of their "beef bacon" they were trying out. It was really interesting, thin jerky-like beef, but tender with bacon flavoring. If they do decide to offer it, it could be a hit for them. Not picture - my husband got a banana pudding to take home. He thought it was one of the best he's had. The rest of us were too full to think about dessert, something we regretted later on. Yes, this place is a bit on the expensive side, but it was absolutely worth every penny. The meats and the sides were so high quality and delicious, homey food with a five-star treatment.

The Brisket at this place is amazing. All of the sides are…read morebursting with southern flavor and the staff couldn't be any better. The second you walk across that wooden front porch and swing open the gateway to country charm and southern hospitality. The parking lot was empty and it didn't look open yet, but we turned out to be the first customers of the day. Service: From the start, service set a strong tone. The hostess was friendly, welcoming, and seated us promptly, clearly proud to show off the new, more spacious location with plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. Our server, Jada (who we later learned is a manager), was excellent: sweet, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always a step ahead of our needs. She even made a fresh pot of coffee for our dessert order. If T-Doug is putting people like her in leadership, he's doing something right. Ambiance: The dining room still has that "new" feel. It's clean, well-lit, and comfortable. The décor is functional and inviting without trying too hard, which fits the place well. Food & Drink: The current menu doesn't appear to be updated on the website, but it's easy to find on their Facebook page. There's a lot to choose from, including steaks and higher-end options that would make this a good spot for a special occasion. Overall, the menu suggests broad restaurant experience rather than a one-note concept. I didn't explore the bar much, but it looked well-stocked enough to suit most tastes. We started with homemade onion rings, which were a pleasant surprise: uniform and skinny, crunchy, well-cooked, and nicely seasoned. Beverages: We had waters along with a Rum Punch and T-Doug's Lemonade. Both cocktails were light and refreshing, didn't taste like a dry mix, and were balanced just right. Enough rum and vodka to relax, not enough to make you lose your religion. Entrées: Solid all around. The fried combo dinner featured hand-battered fish and shrimp with crispy fries and hushpuppies. Everything was cooked properly and satisfying. The Cajun club came on Texas toast, quartered and stacked high on a thick wooden skewer that would come in handy if the parking lot got rough. Roast beef cold cuts, American cheese (something a little less processed might have elevated it), lettuce, tomato, crispy bacon, and turkey or chicken (not sure which one and don't remember the menu description). The bread was nicely toasted without being over-buttered, and thankfully the kitchen believes in restraint. No "swimming in mayo" here. Dessert: Beignets: bite-sized, crisp on the outside, soft inside, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, and not greasy or overly sweet. Perfect with hot black coffee served in proper mugs. Value: For the quality and quantity we received, prices felt very fair for this area. Kudos to the kitchen and chef. Having moved back to DeRidder from the Baton Rouge metro, we've decided that dining out should offer something we can't easily do at home. We both enjoy cooking, and T-Doug's clears that bar. We'll definitely be back, especially when the grill is (hopefully) running earlier in the day so we can try the steak selection.

So after performing at New Orleans Jazz Fest this past weekend, we finally made a stop to see if it lived up to the praise. Pulling up, it honestly looks like a simple gas station pit stop--the kind of place truck drivers frequent (and judging by the steady flow of trucks, that checks out). But stepping inside was a completely different experience. It was clean, open, and surprisingly welcoming. Before even ordering, we found ourselves in the frozen section grabbing items to take home--boudin, deer sausage, gumbo... you name it, they had it stocked and ready. It already felt like one of those hidden gems you're glad someone put you on to. Then came the food. My boyfriend has been talking about their fried ribs for over a year, so of course we had to order them. He also got chicken wings, while I kept it light with Cajun boudin balls and green beans. First bite of the boudin ball? I was pleasantly surprised. Flavorful, slightly doughy, but still really good. But let's get to the star of the show... The fried ribs. As someone who's lived in Texas for over 20 years, I had never even heard of fried ribs. But baby... these were it. Perfectly seasoned all the way through, incredibly tender, and honestly--you could barely even tell they were fried. Just juicy, flavorful, and done right. This review is really just to say: fried ribs are real... and In-Laws does them right. If you're ever driving between Texas and Louisiana--somewhere around Lake Charles or Lafayette--do yourself a favor and stop here. 10/10. Highly recommend.
