    Is that a Ruben sandwich?
    Roger S.

This place used to be the BOMB! as of late, the Service and the Food is sub par. Ordered a Ruben sandwich on Marbeled Rye. The meat was packaged meat and chewy, very poor quality Corned Beef, and the Sauerkraut was sparse to day the least. As you can see the sandwich has about 2 slices of meat and a table spoon of the kraut. The bread was regular Rye? (maybe) with grill marks. A few potato chips and a store bought cookie. I told cashier of my concern and she just brushed it off. Moving on to the next one for us. Pretty much done here..

    Strawberry lemonade

This hidden gem was just across the street from our hotel. We wanted to try something local. The place makes you feel like you are at someone's home having lunch. We started with the strawberry lemonade. It was so good. It was homemade and not too sweet with large chunks of berries in it. I had the chicken salad on wheat. It was really good. I also tried the potato soup which tasted so good and you could tell someone spent a good amount of time making it. Overall I will be back again before I go home to Ohio.

Great sandwich shop, just wish it wasn't sooo crowded with tables and stuff for sale. Makes it very hard to walk through.

We come here on occasion. Good place to eat after church if you don't mind a bit of a crowd.

(We moved back here after 20 years in the Baton Rouge metro area and the culture shock is real; we are glad to have Double "D"!) We dine there about twice a month, either inside or take-out. The place is usually hopping with business, but the host(ess) normally gets you seated quickly. Most servers can handle the pressure and are prompt, know their menu, and check in after the food drops be sure you're satisfied. Drinks are refilled promptly. You're limited to Pepsi products here. Our menu favorites are the: Mesquite Grilled Chicken: the chicken is moist and flavorful. We usually choose the Sweet Potato as side and they're oven-baked and tender. We are not fans of the yeast rolls, but it's a thing here so there's that. Double "D" Burger: as advertised, a juicy burger, generously dressed. Again, not a fan of the "yeast roll" bun, but they do pop it on the grill for a little singe, which helps. French fries are not too salty, and always come out crispy and hot. We've only ordered cocktails here once, and that was more than enough. Mixed drinks are not a strength here, but their crowd tends to be non-alcohol, so it's not a big deal to skip the drinks when we're here

We were a party of two, arriving during the weekday lunch rush: Upon entering, we stood there being ignored by the cashier until we finally initiated the interaction. Her response (without liking up): "Eating here? sit wherever you want." We did as we were told. For a while. Quite while. Finally, the waitress shows up. In her defense, she might have been the only waitress working in the place. We both ordered soup/sandwich combos. The gumbo was flavorful, but the broth is very thin. That is off-putting to some, but like I said, the flavor was there. The sandwiches took almost 40 minutes (40!) to appear, long enough that the waitress apologized twice for the delay. She also pointed out twice that the #1 I ordered took the longest to prepare of anything on the menu. It's a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. Literally just sliced turkey and melted cheese... The restaurant's floor was uneven, with soft spots and broken tiles to the extent that it presents a hazard for elderly people. The bathroom had both black mold and an abundance of spider webs visible. The air conditioning was not able to keep up with the summer weather. It was unpleasantly warm in the dining area. I will not return here.

I'm assuming it's because it is Mother's Day weekend and they were busy. Anyhow, there was about a 15-20 minute wait for a table- no big deal. We were seated sooner than that which was great. We sat in a booth at approximately 7:00pm. We weren't greeted by ANYone until about 7:15. The nice server wasn't assigned to our table but she took our drink order and chip order. We get our drinks and chips. She came to check on us and advised our actual server would be with us momentarily. It is now 7:40 and out actual server has not come to check on us. The non-assigned server ended up taking our food order. Our food came about 8:00- almost exactly and hour from the time we were originally sat. My kiddos ordered mandarins as a side which came in a dirt bowl with parsley and cheese bits mixed in. My husband ordered a triple combo which was to consist of 3 types of meat- he only received two. Part of my entree was cold. During our visit MANY tables were left empty and dirty. They weren't being bussed. I understand if you are short handed, but it was kind of disgusting to sit in a restaurant surrounded by empty booths filled with half eaten plates of someone else's food, dirty napkins, and empty drink cups lying sroun We will go back because as you know it's Leesville and there isn't much around. However, I will avoid special occasions and possibly weekend evenings when it's the most crowded.
