Went with a group for dinner tonight. I ordered the Western Strip medium rare with mushrooms and onions. Our server was top notch and on point. When I got my steak it looked like a gray piece of meat with grill marks. I spent most of my time cutting the fat off to get about four quality bites of gray blue meat. The onions and mushrooms were a bowl of mush. Whoever cooked that does not know steak. The meat was lukewarm as well as my okra. Not acceptable. read more

I come in and I asked you all to be seated at the bar which they did. It took quite a long time for somebody to come get a drink order from me. And then again a long time for somebody to get a food order from me. The first drink ran out and I never did even see a second one because nobody ever came around even when they brought my food. Double "D" is a safe bet with a good menu, busier atmosphere, and good service. We have never used the outside patio. (We moved back here after 20 years in the Baton Rouge metro area and the culture shock is real; we are glad to have Double "D"!) We dine there about twice a month, either inside or take-out. The place is usually hopping with business, but the host(ess) normally gets you seated quickly. Most servers can handle the pressure and are prompt, know their menu, and check in after the food drops be sure you're satisfied. Drinks are refilled promptly. You're limited to Pepsi products here. Our menu favorites are the: Mesquite Grilled Chicken: the chicken is moist and flavorful. We usually choose the Sweet Potato as side and they're oven-baked and tender. We are not fans of the yeast rolls, but it's a thing here so there's that. Double "D" Burger: as advertised, a juicy burger, generously dressed. Again, not a fan of the "yeast roll" bun, but they do pop it on the grill for a little singe, which helps. French fries are not too salty, and always come out crispy and hot. We've only ordered cocktails here once, and that was more than enough. Amazing! This place is the spot! First time here, and I enjoyed the experience. I came around 7 PM, and only had to wait about 5 minutes before being seated. The Baked Rolls are absolutely delicious! Try not to eat too many while you wait for you food. Lol I ordered the "Cowboy Ribeye" with Home-Made Fries and Cesar Salad. The food was absolutely amazing, along with the service. I stopped in here for a late supper with a friend on a Wednesday night. We were seated right away. The waitress brought us 2 fairly large Rolls. They tasted homemade like the Texas or Logan's Roadhouse chains and were soft and so delicious I didn't even feel like I needed butter on mine and I ate every bite. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered Grilled Shrimp with Tartar Sauce and a side of Mac 'n Cheese. The Shrimp were cooked beautifully and tasted very good even without the Tartar Sauce, but the Sauce was creamy and good and I used all of it up. The Mac 'n Cheese was on the heavy side and tasted kind of chalky at the same time. I would not order it again. My date ordered the Cowgirl Ribeye and Green Beans with a Side Salad and Ranch Dressing. The Salad was good, but the Ribeye was disappointing since it looked quite a bit thinner than the example that was sitting out in the lobby. Also, he gave me a bit of his Green Beans and they tasted like generic canned green beans with no salt. They were stringy and had to be heavily doctored with the salt shaker. I would never order those again. I would eat here again and try some different things on the menu since the Rolls, Salad, Dressing and Grilled Shrimp were delicious. read more

Perfect end to the day. Spent the day in the brutal Louisiana heat and double d was on oasis , ice cold draft and we'll seasoned rib eye couldn't ask for a better meal. Salad starter was crisp and fresh with a chunky blue cheese dressing but the steak was the celebrity. Pittsburgh rare is hard to find most kitchens won't due to level of difficulty. It's hard to crisp and char the outside with a rare cold center but they nailed the temperature. Service was fast and friendly, my beer mug never hit empty. Today was my third visit to this restaurant, so I believe I can give a very fair review after giving them three tries. The setting is very pleasant. Very visually appealing. Nice 'sports bar and grill' type setting, not my idea of a steakhouse though. It has several T.V.s set up, and I appreciate that. The music is a nice touch, playing good country music, not too loud and not too soft. The room temperature was very comfortable. Everything looked clean. The waitress today was very nice,very helpful, and patient. I had several questions about the food preparations as I have special dietary needs and must eat a gluten free diet. She was able to help me with my questions. Here's my problems: They had NO sweet potatoes. As ridiculously expensive as this place is, I should definitely get what I want. If it's on the menu, serve it or take it off the menu! Especially when the Sweet potato is one of the ONLY items I can eat! Secondly, I ordered mesquite grilled chicken. I asked the server how its prepared. I was told it just a plain grilled mesquite chicken with a side. What I got was a BLACKENED LEMON PEPPER CHICKEN BREAST! It was very dry and tough and hard to cut with my knife! Definitely not visually appealing at all(as you can see in my pics). My stomach hurts from all the black pepper caked on it!! My husband got the fried sirloin with mashed potatoes and gravey. It was 'MEH'! The steak was bland, and the potatoes were covered in some funky black ooze. He said it tasted like a cheap gravey mix. Definitely not worth the large charge. He couldn't even finish eating his food! ***But, he said the rolls are amazing!! And served with REAL BUTTER!*** Our food was brought out in a very timely manner, was at a goid warm temperature, and the silverware was clean and nicely wrapped in napkins. Now, as I said, this was our third try here. At our previous visit, I had ordered a steak salad. I waited an hour my food, and the server brought me a plate of plain salad greens, no steak on it, and quickly rushed off. When we finally were able to catch him, we showed him his error. He left and came back MUCH later with a small plate that had a few very small slices of steak and flopped it on my table. It literally looked like he had just shaved a few meager slices of meat from somebody else's order! I was starving so I ate and we left. Definitely NOT worth the long drive from Westlake, LA either time. But, WE TRIED. Our first visit, over two years ago was very pleasant. I had no complaints. We were seated quickly. We didn't have a long wait for our food. We sat in the bar. It was nice! I had ordered the steak salad, and it came back perfect! The Price was crazy expensive though. But we had a nice time. A great first impression. But, that was then, this is now. What else can I say? Too far of a drive, and too much money spent on less than mediocre. read more

i RARELY come on here to give a bad review as someone that has worked in the industry for years. however, my husband travels for work so we are always excited to try the small town restaurants and explore whatever town we happen to be in. when we arrived i asked if we could sit outside on the patio and the hostess said "i don't know" and walked away. when i asked our waitress what drinks they served, she said she had no idea. i asked what flavor daiquiris they had and she said she didn't know. my husband ordered a new york strip steak cooked medium rare, which by the way was $35. the steak came out and was literally the size of a skirt steak and cooked to a good medium well, so we sent it back. not to mention the green beans were inedible. we tried to make the best of it and enjoy our drinks, until i ordered a strawberry daiquiri that was the worst daiquiri i've ever had. i asked the waitress to exchange the drink for a margarita instead and was told it would not be taken off the bill, regardless of the fact that i had only taken one sip of the drink. BUT IT DOESNT END THERE! i walked in the bathroom after all this and the MANAGER walked in after me, nearly hitting me with the door, gave me a dirty look, and walked into the stall. no apology. nothing. of course regardless of all of this we still tipped generously and above 20% where it was not deserved but will never be coming back. i would like to mention the young man that ran all of our food was wonderful and respectful and took care of us more than our own server, who was hard to flag down the entire time. read more

I wish I could praise this place cause my first time experience was very decent and average but good. My second experience if could and would be -10. I say this due to the management and service here and not the food cause we didn't even make it to the food. Our waiter had totally ignored my family and I during just our drink orders including my wife's which we waited almost 40 min for and had to ask several times for water for her. Her original drink order off the menu took 30 min to receive but when got was terrible and asked for the manager but seemed to find more excuses for the situation then a resolution while us being constructive and not insulting. After that we waited 15 minutes still before a resolution to even and just my wife's drink order and had to approach the waiter and the manager at the bar gossiping us and others. I was then insulted by the manager stating I was a lier about the situation and he is the best waiter they had. I cannot agree he is the best cause the other ladies around us was working three times as hard and very attentive to the customers and they were getting things out fast to them. This is one of the worst experiences in my 40+ years in life that I had with a restaurant.. seems like this younger generation does not care. Especially about the owners investments. read more

I was hesitant due to the 3 stars but we were pleasantly surprised by the food. First and foremost, I probably gained 5lbs in just the rolls (shamelessly I'll admit we had 2 baskets between the 2 of us) and we loved the buttery-dessert nature of them! My husband had sirloin tips (medium-rare) and veggies. He loved it as it came out on the sizzling cast-iron. I had the mesquite chicken salad and it was a huge portion and perfectly flavorful. I'm way too excited that they have a drive-thru as we were big fans of Zaxby's Zalads in Georgia and here we can get an even better salad to go! My only strange complaint were the lights ... as you can see the fluorescent lights were a bit over powerful but hey, we were there for the food. read more

I came in for lunch and ordered off their lunch specials menu. There were around 10ish selected items, mostly under $10, of wide variety from burgers, sandwiches, steak, and seafood. According to the menu, if your party is under 4 people, then the food will come out within 15 minutes. I ordered the Double D's Burger with seasoned fries. The patty needed more salt/flavor and the fries had textural inconsistencies (some soggy, some crispy). And just like Texas Roadhouse, they also serve peanuts in a bucket with shells on the ground and buttered bread. The service was great. The waitress who served me was very nice and efficient. And because of that, I was able to be in and out of of the steakhouse in only 30 minutes. read more

We were seated in a timely manner, and in about 30 seconds the waitress approached the table. She brought a basket with four rolls and spread, then gave us our menus and took our drink order. Our drinks arrived in about a minute, and she said she would give us a few minutes to peruse the menu. She was back in approximately two minutes, and was extremely helpful, answering all our questions, and making appropriate suggestions. We ordered the three-in-one for the appetizer. Nichole ordered the Cowgirl sirloin; I ordered the 16 oz. Porterhouse. We both requested medium. Our appetizer arrived in five minutes, and was presented in a very appealing manner. The food looked absolutely delicious, and one bite confirmed the look was not only skin deep. The hot wings style chicken bites were just right, a little tart from the vinegar, and just the right amount of spice. Those fried crawfish tails were crispy and succulent; and I, who usually forego egg rolls, was captivated by their crunch and flavor. In another three minutes our food arrived, and was brought to the table by a very gracious young lady, who took the time to ask if we needed anything else. We pushed the appetizers to the side, and one bite of that awesome steak was enough to convince me that I had been missing out on a culinary delight! My wife never used a knife on hers, and although I found it necessary to use mine, the meat was tender and cooked to perfection. The salad was another work of art, with its presentation of mini tomatoes, pepper, and cucumber adding to the appeal. Nichole had Bleu Cheese dressing, while I opted for Ranch. Our server was one of the best I've ever encountered: very prompt with refills, and helpful without being overly pushy. She was very neatly dressed, always had a smile, and deserved the tip we left. I was a bit nonplussed on our arrival by the appearance that your parking was insufficient, but we found a spot soon enough. As a person who uses a handicapped placard, I am disappointed by your lack of sufficient handicapped spots, but that is another story. The dining area is efficiently laid out, easy to navigate, and clean as I would expect in my own establishment. It was very laid back, and informal, but I found the height difference between table and chair to be uncomfortable. We had no reason to visit the restroom, but I feel confident they were as orderly as the rest of your fine dining establishment. I will be back soon, and will tell everyone I can about the magic their taste buds will experience with a visit to Double D Steak House! read more

I was more than a little disappointed while eating here! I was served an old & cold baked potato, which I sent back, (a kitchen & wait staff issue). My waitress tried telling me they came that way, (wait staff issue). I ordered the fried steak and it was mediocre at best. (Kitchen issue). I waited on a tea refill while my waitress gossiped in a group of other waitresses', 5 feet away, (wait staff issue). My GF ordered her hamburger well done, it came back under-cooked and we sent it back too, (kitchen issue). There is obviously a disconnect between the owner and the employees. If this was my place I would fire everyone and start over. You do not get another chance to make a first impression. PS: you cannot buy alcohol in this Parish on Sunday. read more

Had a horrible experience tonight at Double D's. Ordered our food and it took awhile to get it which we were expecting because they were busy. What we weren't expecting was that the two tables who came in behind us got their orders before we even got our appetizers. When our waitress finally showed up with our food we had to remind them about our appetizers. She was very sweet and apologized about the mix up and delay. We started in on our appetizers and onion rings took bite out of the burger immediately spit it out. As you can see from the picture it wasn't cooked at all. When our waitress finally came back to our table we showed her and again she apologized and said she would go talk to the manager. She came back said manager was going to take it off of the ticket. The manager didn't even come talk to us and sent this poor young lady to deal with what was definitely a management problem. When we got the bill we noticed that they charged us for the onion rings and appetizers plus our drinks lol even though we didn't eat anymore after that bite! Our server Cameron was awesome! The steaks were delicious - be careful of the onions on the western burger though, the really load them on there! It was great to watch the Olympics, and the crown & Coke we drank was mixed very well - not too strong & not too weak. After attending a funeral here in DeRidder, this meal & the warm interior & service was the best thing to keep our hopes high & our bellies full. Perhaps lose the Native American imagery & trail of tears sign, though, to bring us more into the 21st century. Thanks for the amazing rolls Double D! read more

I've heard that are these are the same owners as the wagon master steak house in Leesville La. And the reviews weren't good for that place so we went to Double D's. When we got there and told it would be seating for 16 and they jumped right on it and only took a few minutes so 2 there. The little guy that was waiting on us did a great job of taking care of 10 adults and 6 amped up kids. With peanuts and rolls that were out of this world it gave us time to make meal selections. My wife got the fried crawfish with crawfish etouffee which was good and seasoned well. I got the cowboy ribeye that was perfect and seasoned just right. The baked potato was awesome as well. No complaints at all and would recommend this place to everyone. read more

This place has gone downhill to the point I'll never eat here again. Been coming here for too many years to count. The last few times it's become worse and worse. Now it's officially off of my family's list of places to eat. This time the burger was way over cooked. Our appetizer was late and showed up about 45 seconds before our main meal. The dipping sauce for our hot appetizer was stone cold like it came straight from the refrigerator and was. It edible. The waitress didn't even bring us a to go bowl to put it in, so taking it with us I guess isn't an option there. The Waitress never came to ask how the food was and I was never brought condiments I asked for. The person who dropped the food off stood at our table waiting for absolutely nothing until we took the plates from her and then she ran away before I could ask a question. I'll have to find a new place to recommend to my business visitors and save them the headaches of a sub par "restaurant". This is the first time I ever refused to eat prepared food at a restaurant and the only time I ever asked for a server to remove the charge from my bill. read more

For those of you who have been to a Texas Roadhouse, this restaurant is almost exactly the same, down to free rolls with butter and tossing your peanut shells on floor. Steaks are nothing special though and sides aren't spectacular either. Service is hit or miss; my folks came here and had a phenomenal server but when I went I had an apathetic and dull server. They did have a few dishes that I'd like to go back to try (the smothered chicken dishes looked really good), but after having been to Roadhouse so many times before Double D wasn't quite as impressive as I had hoped. read more
