During lunch today I happened to be in the Deridder area so I decided to give them a try. My first impression of the place was "this place serves food?" It looks like a rural truck stop, with a mechanic on-duty next door and a salvage yard in the back. Nevertheless, I decided to go in and give it a try. The place is pretty much a convenience store, with a grill that not only serves burgers, but also Krispy Krunchy Chicken and Hunt Brothers Pizza. They have a really comprehensive menu, serving breakfast to fried seafood dinners. Since everyone at the plant raved about the double bacon cheeseburger, I decided to give that a try, along with waffle fries and a drink. The lady behind the counter informed me the Coca Cola soda fountain was out-of-order the day I visited, and I should pick up a bottled soda instead. After taking my order, she informed me there is a 20 minute wait for the food to be ready. I decided to sit in the dining area to wait, and it is a small area with a TV playing FOX News (the remote was available if anyone wanted to change the channel). Overall it is clean and there is WiFi but I didn't ask for the password. Poteet's Pit Stop is clearly popular as many people came and went as I waited. There were also a lot of people who called in earlier and just came to pick up their orders. About 20 minutes passed and my food was ready. I picked up my drink and decided to eat in the car, in consideration of social distancing during this COVID-19 period. There is a Baptist Church with a large parking lot next door so I decided to stop there to dine in my vehicle. The fries turned out to be hot, freshly made, and has the right amount of seasoning. Best of all was the burger, which was hot and fresh with a generous amount of grilled onions, cheese, and bacon. I opted for the jalapeno bread, which made a difference, and overall it made a hearty meal. Overall, Poteet's Pit Stop was quite a surprise, and is perhaps one of Deridder's best-kept secrets for an excellent burger. The service was friendly, the ladies working were real sweethearts, and the food just wonderful. I will certainly come back the next time I am looking for lunch in the area!

The place is usually hopping with business, but the host(ess) normally gets you seated quickly. Most servers can handle the pressure and are prompt, know their menu, and check in after the food drops be sure you're satisfied. Drinks are refilled promptly. You're limited to Pepsi products here. Our menu favorites are the: Mesquite Grilled Chicken: the chicken is moist and flavorful. We usually choose the Sweet Potato as side and they're oven-baked and tender. We are not fans of the yeast rolls, but it's a thing here so there's that. Double "D" Burger: as advertised, a juicy burger, generously dressed. Again, not a fan of the "yeast roll" bun, but they do pop it on the grill for a little singe, which helps. French fries are not too salty, and always come out crispy and hot. We've only ordered cocktails here once, and that was more than enough. Mixed drinks are not a strength here, but their crowd tends to be non-alcohol, so it's not a big deal to skip the drinks when we're here
