From the moment we stepped into this beautiful establishment, we knew that all the previous reviews were true, a proven hidden gem. My first question was what is Bohdin? With that our waitress promptly pulled an entire 16 inch link out of the pan and cut it into three pieces and told us to try it and see if we liked it. It was delicious, I asked her what I owed, she said nothing. Everyone needs to try it! At that, my wife and I ordered, I ordered the shrimp. Po-Boy sandwich filled with the condiments that I selected. My wife ordered the smoked turkey salad, it was huge! We then ordered a couple of beers, and proceeded to our table to wait for our food. We were greeted by some wonderful people sitting in the dining room, who were so kind and so welcoming it felt like we were at someone's home sitting around the kitchen table with old friends. Come to find out it was the owner, and one of his longtime, trusted customers and friends. My boyfriend has been talking about their fried ribs for over a year, so of course we had to order them. He also got chicken wings, while I kept it light with Cajun boudin balls and green beans. First bite of the boudin ball? I was pleasantly surprised. Flavorful, slightly doughy, but still really good. But let's get to the star of the show... The fried ribs. As someone who's lived in Texas for over 20 years, I had never even heard of fried ribs. But baby... these were it. The restaurant has boudin balls and cracklins like much of the surrounding area, but they've also got a few fabulous items worth getting. They close in the early evening and are not open on Sundays. During the late night hours, the hot foods become super limited with junk food pizza and hot dogs. And best of all? They're open 24 hours.
