Fast, cheap, and good--here, you CAN get all 3! Whenever I'm in town for business, we end up eating lunch here 3 times a week. It's not that there are no other options. There are. It's just that the value can not be beat! The daily plate lunches are great tasting, and come with an unadvertised complimentary dessert (usually a small cake square). It is housed in an old gas station, so the parking situation out front can be chaotic. Park on the gravel and you'll have no problems.

I found this place on a Maps search looking for highway food. Babineaux's was closing but stayed open long enough to prep a to-go order for us of a fried shrimp poboy, fried catfish, grilled cheese, and onion rings. My son's grilled cheese and fries were $3 in his kids meal, the hot poboy was fresh and tasty with a good value for price. The onion rings were hot and crunchy, with an excellent flavor. But it was my grilled catfish, with its huge portion and falling-apart tenderness, that was the cherry on top. EXCELLENT fish made me wish I lived in Jennings just to enjoy this meal every day. Staff had our to go order sitting at the drive through window for us in the 10 minutes it took us to arrive and was friendly. We will definitely be back to Babineaux's next time we're on I-10 in Jennings!

Excellent local flavor. Service is fast and friendly. Susan explained each dish. I had meatball stew over rice and purple hulls. Mike had a tilapia PO Boy. Great prices for a great local flavor

We are traveling from Texas to Alabama and after being stuck for over an hour following a bad wreck on I-10 we needed a lunch break.

We waited about 30 minutes, and it was well worth it! Definitely recommend getting there early…read moresince their specialty pastries sell out quickly. I was able to snag a ham and cheese pastry which was excellent. Everything tasted fresh and well-made. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. The space itself is beautiful...very cottage-inspired with plenty of seating both inside and outside. It's tucked away in a peaceful, secluded area that adds to the charm. Beyond pastries, they also have great drinks and a full breakfast menu. Service was fast and efficient despite how busy it was.

This place is stunning on the inside and also offers outdoor seating. The line was out the door when we got there and for good reason. This was one of the best meals we have had in a while. We started with the bacon & Gruyère quiche which was absolutely delicious and so tasty. I would order this again. The cinnamon roll was (I'm not kidding when I say this) THE BEST CINNAMON ROLL I have ever eaten!! For entrees we order the Souther Smother. So so so good!! The biscuit is fluffy and the gravy is out of this world. We also had the grits & grillades. OMG the meat is so tender, juicy, and packed full of flavor. It país so well with the grits, potatoes, and eggs. We also ordered one of every pastry they had to go!! 10/10 I hope we come back to Lake Charles soon just to eat here again. Trust me just go.

Once we were seated the hostess said go ahead and help yourself to buffet and drinks will be brought to you. The crabs legs were cold ( but you could see the steam coming up from under the pans) the boiled shrimp were cold as well and you couldn't peel them without pulling the meat.was stuck to the shell. Overcooked. We were eating for awhile wondering where are our drinks. The male waiter that brought our drinks put the drinks down walk away, didn't ask if we needed anything. We were needing napkins and more beverages but our waiter has disappeared . I went ask the cashier lady to please bring us these items. However, the shrimp gumbo and fried fish I found were delicious. When walking out the wait staff were conversing around the the cashiers desk ( found them)

After my dining guest and I were seated, it took more than 30 minutes for us to even receive our food after placing our order. During this time, our waitress did NOT advise us the reason for the delay. I ordered the fried shrimp, fries, and hushpuppies. The food was OK; I've had much better. However, my friend had the grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and peas and carrots. The chicken was EXTREMELY dry and the peas and carrots looked as though they'd been reheated or had come out of a can; both vegetables were both very dull in color. The only thing my friend ate were the mashed potatoes which were mediocre at best. Because of the aforementioned with my friend, the manager did remove the cost of her meal from the ticket. We also had raspberry lemonade and it was more like PINK lemonade. The customer service is severely lacking as well as the quality and appearance of their food and beverages. Please get it together!
