Tasso and sausage with greens and Lima beans
John L. H.

Ruby's is a great place for a plate lunch or breakfast. Just don't get in a hurry. Eunice is a unique little town known as the Cajun Music Capitol of the world. Things move at a slow place around here and Ruby's is no exception. If you've got time though, it is worth a visit. My first trip to trip to Ruby's was at lunchtime. It was pretty crowded with all locals which is a good sign. The wait was brief and our order was taken quickly. The wait for the food was not brief and I started to get nervous since I only had an hour for lunch. When the food arrived though, time was less of a concern. I'm talking legitimate Cajun cooking that fills you up and makes you smile. It's science. My second trip was for breakfast. The place was still filled with locals and there was still a delay in getting food. But this time, I had no time limit and was stress free. We had a large table of work folks and our orders hit all of the highlights of their breakfast menu. I got a western omelette. It was a good choice and my co-workers all reported similar happiness with their food. Prices are very reasonable and the servers are very friendly. If you find yourself in Eunice and have some time, make sure to stop by Ruby's.

Great little cafe Daily specials and a good selection of regular items. Had a fried shrimp poboy with fries. Fries were hot crispy and very good The fried shrimp were also well breaded and fried. Bread was fresh Very happy :)

a menu for the day specials

Awe man, this place is the PERFECT spot to go to for down home southern cooking just like your grandma makes! They have daily lunch specials so today they just so happened to offer beef tips with a choice of two sides. YUMMMMMMMMY!!! The beef tips were seasoned so well and so flavorful, I ate the entire serving it was so good and brought me back to when I was a kids eating at my grandparents. The mac & cheese was tasty too as well as the green beans. Very small location and a lot of regulars come in so get there early to beat the lunchtime rush. Staff is super friendly, they have really good prices and the food comes out fast and hot! I will definitely be back next time I am visiting my family!

Shrimp Plate Lunch Special

Generous portions, fast service, good prices, and friendly local atmosphere, make this small place a winner. The plate lunch specials are a must order. I enjoyed the shrimp cooked to perfection with rice and 2 sides as well as a salad. The Black Eyed Peas were scrumptious and the green beans were awesome. The Ice T was also very refreshing.

Crab cakes to die for
Vern G.

Crab cakes with crawfish cream sauce; I have not had many crab cakes in my life. If every crab cake could be like these, I might not much else. Amazing amount of crab, and just enough breading to make them slightly crispy on the outside. The sauce, with bits of crawfish, was decadent, in every good way. Alligator bites; The batter was relatively light, and thin, allowing you to fully experience the alligator meat, which was delicious Corn & crab bisque; There was so much crab in this dish! That's not a complaint! Velvety creamy goodness, with a generous amount of corn. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! David was our server, and was the model of professionalism. I was visiting a friend in the area, who suggested we try Ruby's. If I lived in the area, I would be here regularly.

This quaint cafe has precious curb appeal and the friendliest welcome when you enter! I ordered one of the daily specials and was thoroughly happy with my meal and experience there. You get SO much food and the prices are great. I definitely found my spot for when I'm passing through Eunice!!

Outstanding Cajun food, great service. We were given good advice concerning this restaurant before the Eunice Players Theater.

This is an excellent place to eat. The food was delicious. The servers were kind and attentive. The building had that "old and quaint" vibe.

It originally was a historic bar, but has…read morechanged over the years and is now a homey eatery that has expanded into the next-door buildings. I guess it is worth mentioning that the establishment has operated under different names. It was originally Nick's, but at one point it was run as Ruby's Restaurant and Courtyard. Ruby's is still in business, but is now operating back at their original location around the corner on Walnut. You may find that the reviews and pictures for these two locations are somewhat mixed up on Yelp for this reason. Now Nick's is back to its original name, and is still going strong. The space Nick's occupies is indeed historic, and is located on the redeveloped 2nd Street with many other nice local businesses. The main section includes the old wooden bar from Nick's, as well as a beautiful high-ceiling dining area. However, the establishment has expanded into the other buildings next door, which includes their large and very nice restrooms. While you visit these, check out the collection of historical photographs of Eunice that are displayed in this hallway. The food at Nick's is indeed a fine example of Eunice home style cooking. Prairie Cajun cuisine often features rice & gravy based dishes that fill the stomach and sooth the soul. These involve a variety of stewed, roasted, or fried meats, and a couple of home-style vegetables. Plate lunches also usually include a small salad and dessert. It is a filling repast! If one wishes, there is a menu offering salads, sandwiches and Po-Boys, and other succulent selections. Seafood selections are of course available... A excellent thing about choosing to dine at Nick's is one can stroll over to the National Park Service's Jean Lafitte Prairie Cajun Cultural Center afterwards, or an ice cream and yogurt shop, or a excellent coffee shop, or go shopping in one of the local boutiques. It is a great place to be in Downtown Eunice.

We walked in and checked out the menu before ordering at the front. I got a shrimp po boy with sweet potato fries and a side salad. My fiance got the turkey club with onion rings. We thought the sides came with it, but realized after we were charged for an onion loaf appetizer which explains why we got the whole bloomin' onion! lol! Since we were on a long drive we unfortunately couldn't take leftovers. The portions were HUGE! My sandwich was good, but I only had half off the bread since it was just too much for the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were amazing and also huge. I just had water, but my fiance got the frozen root beer and we both loved it. Tasted like an Italian ice! The girl working asked if he was sure he wanted a small since it was super tiny. He went with medium and it was huge. Everything was huge. Great local spot surrounded by all chain restaurants.
