I had the seafood stuffed mushrooms and the seafood gumbo, and both were excellent. little bit of heat in the gumbo, just enough to notice it, and it was fantastic. Staff were fantastic, very attentive, made sure I was enjoying everything. Took great care of me. This is definitely a place I would stop by again.!
Drinks were too strong and premixed. We were charged for fresh strawberries for drink and there were none in the drink. Food was just okay. Alligator bites were under cooked. My crab dip was just okay the bread was good and fresh. My husbands was just okay. The corn pie was the best on his plate. Service was good. Will NOT return or recommend to anyone.
I first came here when moving up north for school 5 years ago, and decided to stop back when passing through moving back down. The food does not disappoint and the decor inside is gorgeous. We got the gulf crab fingers appetizer, which are perfectly fried and come with a remoulade with a little kick of spice. The seafood gumbo is incredible and definitely some of the best gumbo you could get. I love that they work with other local artists and small businesses in the area and even have a list of their local sourcing and vendors in the area. Service is fast and friendly and the prices are great!
Great ambience and impeccable service. Maybe it was just what I ordered but the food seems to have really gone downhill. I ordered the shrimp Trinity. The fried shrimp was average the stuffed shrimp was good. But I was not impressed at all by the shrimp and grits. The grits were firm and dispensed as a single scoop in the middle of the dish that was cold in the middle. While the sauce itself was flavorful, the shrimp were rubbery. I was disappointed.

The crawfish enchiladas were mostly tortilla, with a small amount of crawfish in a sauce. The dirty rice was dry. Maybe we ordered the wrong items but we were not a fan. The service was good and the atmosphere was great. They have a gator in the front.
While we are here in Louisiana, we wanted to have Cajun food and we found this restaurant in Lafayette, the heart of Cajun country. We had alligator bites for appetizer. For our main dish, I ordered gumbo and husband ordered crawfish etoufee, and for dessert we shared bread pudding. Glad to finally try alligator - it was fried and coated with breading and tasted like chicken. The gumbo and crawfish were both delicious! Everything we ordered were great! Very cool decor - especially the real alligator display. Service was fast and our server was super nice!
I was in town, recruiting at the university of Lafayette and this place was recommended to me by a colleague. It is the quintessential Louisiana Bayou restaurant. The menu is loaded with Louisiana favorites, such as jambalaya, gumbo, and all the seafood you could possibly eat. Having a shellfish allergy wasn't an issue as there were a lot of menu options that did not include seafood. The chicken and sausage gumbo was delicious. The Boudin burger was unique and extremely flavorful. My colleague had jumbo shrimp dinner and those were some of the biggest shrimp I've ever seen. Leave room for the bread pudding because it is not to be missed. Great place for a casual dinner.
I never thought I would be writing a raving review about a caeser salad with chicken, because it's really just the "i'm trying to be healthy" option... but then Louisiana strikes again. Every city has amazing food -- and I visit a lot of places -- but literally every thing, even the most basic of things, in New Orleans and the surrounding area is special. In this case, I had one of the best tasting salads, and even the chicken that went in it (which I had minimal expectations on since it was a lunch special where I got chicken gumbo and a chicken caeser salad for like 12 bucks or something insanely cheap, which was yet again the perfect amount for a fully satisfying meal...) was delicious. We all know chicken is pretty darn difficult to make good without frying it.. it often is dry or chewy but this was just pure perfection. Also, where else do you also get bacon and eggs included in the salad?! I also had the diplomat's old fashion which was phenomenal. I mean, this is the reason I can't live in a place like New Orleans; there are infinite incredible food options at amazing prices, and I'd have no reason to have a kitchen and would want to eat out non-stop, all the time...
The atmosphere is loud and social. The food is full of flavor in every bite. Great service. Highly recommend.

The seafood gumbo is delicious and FULL of seafood! The fried half & half platter was good and enough to share with my husband. The crawfish etoufee was seasoned just right! The service was fast and friendly with many menu suggestions. The place is clean with a Cajun vibe. Yes, I recommend this place!
Stopped here on the way to New Orleans, craving some fried Cajun food and this place absolutely delivered! My household is full of seafood and Cajun food lovers, so we were in heaven from the start. We started off with a dozen chargrilled oysters and every single one was packed with flavor. For the main course, my boyfriend and I shared the seafood platter which was a feast in itself. It came with fried shrimp, fried catfish, fried oysters, fried crawfish tails, fries, and hush puppies. The fried catfish was the star for me-crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, with perfectly seasoned breading. While everything on the platter was delicious the hush puppies stole the show. I'm not even sure what goes into making a hush puppy to be honest but what I do know is that the ones here were the best I've ever had. Service was decent and fast too. Even with a party of nine, we were in and out in just an hour and a half and back on the road. If you're ever passing through, I highly recommend stopping by this spot.
Both our dinner were excellent. Perfectly seasoned. We ate at the bar and our bartender was great. The price was awesome. We haven't had that much food with one drink each for that price $56.80. In years. We will be back.

Service and ambiance are great and as expected. Had the duck gumbo which was dark and elevated vs regular gumbo. The shrinp poor boy was good also but bread needs to be toasted more. The rice and beans were good but luke warm so took away from the experience The highlight for me was the ettoufee. It was the best I had in a very long time. Creamy and decadent. But again not hot enough. So overall could've been a 10 but with food not hot it was an 8.5 read more

Soooo I saw an instagram video and it led us here! This food was exactly as advertised- CAJUN! Spicy - Authentic baby! Spicy for me but great food and good atmosphere. Homemade from scratch type of kitchen, something like someone's mama put their foot into! Best part- our waiter DAVID! He was so kind and patient. Explained all the different kinds of food, gave us samples of crawfish and gumbo to try as well. There was a live band on Saturday night, which was super cool as well. If you are in Lafayette and you missed this place - shame on you!!! read more

This past Sunday me and my family drove 115 minutes to eat here. I've been before so the menu I guess kind of changed. I ordered a dish to where it was a stuffed catfish. I started eating it and I coughed a lot. It was so hot and I got to the bottom of the catfish fillet that was still skin on it and it was still cold. I asked my waitress to see a manager. She never allowed me so I paid almost $30 for a dish. I didn't even eat. I called the next day to speak to a manager about my experience and he never took accountability. He just told me that there wasn't any complaints on his behalf and they never have been. Typical management stuff didn't offer me a solution for next time I come or anything like that so I've made a decision not to ever return to Prejean's even if they're the only restaurant that's open. Imagine eating food that is not fully cooked at the bottom and still cold but the top is so hot to where you can't enjoy food just disgusting. The rice dressing was crunchy, you can tell it been there for a while. He gave me heartburn so fast and severe. I asked the waitress if I could see a manager she never got me one but did bring me the check so I spent all this money on food. I couldn't even eat and the manager was like nonchalant and helping me figure out a solution so I'm nonchalant to ever eaten there again you feeding people raw meat with uncooked fish skin the bottom is just disgusting. Prejean's!!! How I wish there was one in CA. Was recommended by a friend. Prejean's did not disappoint. This was by far one of the of the best creole restaurants I've been to. The place is decorated like an authentic bayou restaurant. Beautiful wood everywhere and even had a stage for music. You're also treated by a large alligator at the front. But now the food!! Oh boy, please go hungry. Prejean's serves great portions. But the quality and taste are above the rest. I had the Prejean's Seafood Platter with a side of Seafood Gumbo. Oh the Gumbo!!! That was the best Roux I've ever had in my life. This is a must order side. Now I also had another show stealer... the Chargrilled Oysters!!! OMG, the flavor from the grill came infused in those oysters. The cheese bacon and char flavor... This was a "MUST have item". You will not regret it. Love me some Cajun food at Prejean's read more

Had a Taste for some good Cajun pasta while visiting the area for the crawfish festival. Googled some Places nearby and saw the Menu here and was instantly attracted !! 1pm time wasn't crowded. Our waitress Brooke was amazing gave some great food recommendations!! I started with the Rockefeller oysters and wowzer packed with flavor so much I found myself sucking the shell pretty much ! Please try the duck gumbo it was absolutely delicious I've never had anything like it!!. It has some Kick to it but omg! I will definitely be back just for that gumbo !! The seafood gumbo was ok but the duck was hands Down my favorite! I had the blackened shrimp Alfredo which was absolutely scrumptious friend had some fried oysters from report was equally delicious! We both agreed we would be back anytime traveling down East I10!! Brook you rock and you know why !!!!!! read more

Our server was fantastic! We tried a lot of menu items and some hit or missed. The gumbo was just alright if you like a dark roux almost burnt. The crab and corn bisque was really thick and flavored well. All of the grilled oyster options were great! The fried platter was enough for 2. The shrimp and grits were not the same as you would expect to get anywhere else. Lots of small shrimp with some "dirty grits" that I didn't care for. Some sauce that clearly should be on a pasta because it was good but not on grits. Just not for me. The creme brûlée was not set and had one bad strawberry on it. We were told the cheesecake was frozen. The fried whole slice of bread pudding with white chocolate sauce was good! They had a pastry chef but dessert was underwhelming. read more

The food was fantastic. We had alligator, fried green tomatoes with crawfish étouffée, seafood gumbo and red beans and rice with andouille sausage. The jalapeño cucumber martini was excellent! Five stars! read more

Overrated. The prices are way too high and the food isn't great. The chicken and sausage gumbo was chunky but lacked flavor and depth. The "stuffed" shrimp were not jumbo shrimp stuffed but a salad shrimp "stuffed" into doughy tasting ball. I originally thought they accidentally gave me mushy dirty rice instead of dirty grits but no, the grits were just crumbly, dry and tasteless. We also had a spicy dill Bloody Mary. It wasn't spicy at all and all we could taste was pickled okra. On the high side, the chargrilled oysters were good, the staff were pleasant and the place was clean. Still, probably won't return. read more
