Lagneaux's is the best cajun buffet in Lafayette. It's not the best one I've ever been to but it is real close. It's got a real cajun hole in the wall, mom & pop vibe. The seafood gumbo is very good. The fried fish, shrimp, chicken is all great and the seafood balls are wonderful too. These are the typical items I get but there's lots of other options including salad, dessert, pasta dishes, etc. And the kicker is this buffet is less than $20 per person. But eat what you take because they reserve the right to charge for wasted food. Love this place. I go often. read more

Took a little side trip to Laffy after seeing Lagneauxs consistently pop up on my timeline. There's a buffet offered on weekends and lunch hours. I have never trusted a buffet gumbo until I tried theirs. A little darker roux but overall solid for a buffet. The blue crab were perfectly boiled, wasn't too much a fan of the shrimp. Crawfish not yet on the bar but they do offer it closer to crawfish season for a few weeks. Overall a solid stop if in Acadiana. read more

First I want to preference that I have been here many times in my years of traveling in the area. I am giving a Three Star Review for this reason. This makes the second night in a row that I have been here. Last night crawfish was the main item on the buffet and there were frog legs as well. The place was packed. Now for tonight's adventure... first I arrived a little later in the evening. The parking lot was empty. That was the first sign... The second as I glance in the window walking through the door NO CRAWFISH! Okay I was good with that because I was really for a change of pace. Shrimp boiled that is instead. Well the shrimp were tough as shoe leather. Way over done! And I looked for the frog legs NOPE not on the buffet tonight. The rest of the items were very limited and no taste. Very good blue crab, seasoned all the way through. Some of the other items were also tasty. The majority of side dishes were average. I also have to say the server was attentive and pleasant. I would definitely go back for the yummy crabs and good service, if I'm ever in the area again. read more

But this night at this Lafayette restaurant was one of the greatest and tastiest nights ever for me. One of the kindest and hardest working young ladies was my waiter and when I ran out of my drink or an empty plate, it was like an instant that she was there. Five stars. We had the opportunity to eat here recently and I came away very impressed. Lagneaux's has been a seafood staple for years in Lafayette, part of the old restaurant legacy of the town. The food was exceptional. Boiled crawfish, shrimp, and crabs were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The fried shrimp were fabulous, as were a number of other items. The restaurant is clean and the waitstaff very attentive and happy. I recommend this establishment to anyone who wishes for a taste of what Lafayette has to offer, in terms of seafood. Came here for my much needed seafood fix. I wanted to try the seafood dinner buffet. The waitress was pretty nice and helpful throughout the meal. It was rather busy so I asked another waitress for something to which I got a dry response from saying to wait for my server to be available to assist. That was a little rude. It's probably not the best quality but it's a really good option if you are new to Louisiana and Cajun cuisine. For $22.95 per person, you get to sample most of Louisiana's signature dishes. We were visiting our friends out in LA and they insisted on taking us here for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived soon after it opened and there was line out out the door and the parking lot was overflowing to the lot next door. Thank goodness that the waiting area is sheltered and there is space to sit. We must have been waiting there for at least an hour. There was a bottle neck at the buffet but once we were able to finally be seated there was no longer a line at the buffet. Wow. So many options to choose from. My favorites were the fried shrimp, jambalaya, fried chicken, and basically everything fried. They had ran out of craw fish by the time we got in line. The peach cobbler was also amazing. Some people were there just for the crabs or just for the crawfish and were tearing through them like it was their job. Really solid and efficient way to get your southern food fix. Huge disappointment! I placed a to go order for crab bisque and bread pudding with rum sauce. I get back to my office and basically did not eat! I was expecting a creamy bisque but instead got a very weak broth with crab claws. The so called bread pudding did not have any sauce. A colossal waist of money and time! read more

When you hear all you can eat Cajun food, you immediately think of good old fashion Cajun dishes. The options are great but the quality is sub par. The crawfish were hard to peel and very salty. Normally a buffet isn't going to be my first choice when choosing a restaurant. But an all you can eat boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp buffet? Not just yes. Hell effing yes! I learned how to peel crawfish when I was still in the womb. Ok, not really...but I've been peeling and eating crawfish since I was really, really little. I drove Saturday here with a friend of mine all the way from Plaquemine. Stood In line for an hour. Lots of food. Only problem is it's all way over cooked. I was so excited about a a seafood buffet.Very salty everything. Only thing that tasted good was the fish. Well we definitely not going back. Shrimp looked an tasted like it was boiled for hours. We decided to try their buffet, then later had ordered 3lb of crawfish, since that day, they did not serve crawfish in their buffet. Overall, their buffet was pretty decent. Tons of fried seafood stuff and cajun fare items. The day we went, they had boiled shrimp and crabs. The shrimp was decent size, somewhat too salty and a little over cooked. The crabs were full of flavor and full of meat. They did not had crawfish that day, but I was told that they do have crawfish sometimes, not sure which days. So we decided to order some crawfish, since we were really craving for crawfish. We figured it would be good, since the crabs were good. However, this was not the case. The flavors were mediocre, and the crawfish itself, looks somewhat dry? If that makes any sense. The outer shell of the crawfish did not have a vibrant red color to it, instead it was somewhat yellow, and not vibrant at all. Maybe this color difference threw off my appetite, but we did not enjoy the crawfish like we hoped. Not good anymore! They used to be great. Out of 6 boiled crabs off the buffet, only 2 were full of meat. Salad tasted old. The boiled shrimp was rubbery and over boiled. EVERYTHING WAS OVER DONE AND TOO SALTY. The staff serves your food at the buffet line which is fine, but the waitress said we couldn't have a to go box for my son (although somebody at a different table got one)...what's that about? I don't like to waste food, and we didn't over fill the plate, they did. The drink is not included in the cost (we got iced tea). Overall with the amount of our bill which was close to 100.00, I would give them 1 star for the tartar sauce. read more

I used to like going to lagneauxs until 4/14/21. They opened at 4:30 pm and then preceded to let in over 300 people at one time. You could not serve yourself at the buffet. I waited in line over 40 minutes to be served. My wife only orders the fried porkchops because she is allergic to seafood. You cannot just go up and get what you want. You are herded into lines and have to make your way all around & grab what you want. So if you forget something, we'll, tough luck...get back in line. All the fried foods were either burnt and overcooked or they tasted like old grease. The au gratin was all clotted and I realized when I sat down that it was cold. I stopped a waitress to tell her since you definitely can't have food that isn't at the right temperature on a hot buffet. She was indifferent about it but went heat it up. It tasted like crap. I tried to like this place, really I did. I'd heard such great things about it. But on our first visit, there were no boiled crawfish (it was early in the season, but others were serving them). The boiled crabs were very small and the meat was dry and flavorless. The jambalaya was lukewarm and had an odd aftertaste. The boudin had no spice or bite. The fried shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. And it seemed as though everything else was deep-fried in the same, boring, too thick batter. I don't expect sterling service at a buffet, but we finished our meal without anyone ever collecting dirty plates ... and our water glasses stayed empty once they reached that state. But still -- every time we drove by, the parking lot was full. Surely all these people couldn't be wrong! So we tried again. This time, there was crawfish -- but it tasted muddy and the tails crumbled rather than snap from the shell. The crab was again very small and dry. The gumbo was bland and gummy. The deep-fried catfish tenders ... weren't. Even the corn on the cob looked and tasted over-boiled. The service this time was fine, but the food left me seriously unimpressed. I think this may be my man's most favorite place on earth. They have a seafood all-you-can-eat, and he accepts that phrase as a challenge! He'll write later, I am sure. I ordered from the menu. I had the fried shrimp dinner, which came with a salad and bread. The salad was good, but the bread was pretty much a buttered hot dog bun. The shrimp dinner itself was GOOD! I could hardly see the plate from all the honkin' food! I must have had 20 big ol' shrimp and a pound of french fries. The seafood jambalaya was fresh and tasty and the hush puppy was alright. I loved this place! We stopped in for lunch when they first opened. Everything was so fresh. I saw some complaints from other customers about plain or bland food. It is real, home cooking. The spice is on the table for customers to add the spice they want. The lunch buffet was very reasonable. loved everything and if I ever get back to LA, I would definitely stop back in.
