Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened. I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability. read more

This restaurant is known for their crawfish unfortunately I visited for a weekday lunch and they were posting a sign on the doors after I had walked in stating they don't serve crawfish until 4pm weekdays, 3pm on weekends. This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options. read more

At first, I was a little worried when I walked into Cajun Table and saw they only had about five customers. But those worries disappeared as soon as the shrimp boil hit the table! The shrimp boil was way beyond what I had in mind. Everything was flavorful, spicy, and absolutely delicious. They also gave me a sauce to dip the shrimp in, which was the perfect way to cool down some of the heat from the spice. That sauce was a great touch! If I had one suggestion, it would be to give out some wet naps because this is definitely the kind of meal you're going to get messy eating but honestly, that's part of the fun. read more

My fiance and I were in Lafayette for a food vacation and he wanted some fried catfish and this was the place! We each got a half serving of catfish and shrimp. The catfish was great and we wish we had more. The shrimp was good as well. I liked the Cajun dipping sauce they had. The place has hot pork rinds ready for you as you sit which my fiance was so pleased about. I got the happy hour margarita which was pretty weak but I will not complain for all day $5 margaritas. My fiance got a dark liquor drink with fresh berries which was strong and good. I got the sweet potato fries with my order which were great. Great little local Cajun place. It's pretty hard to get to if you're coming into town. The place wasn't very busy on a Saturday around lunch. The service was great though. The food was pretty solid and enjoyed every bit of it. I ordered the knuckle sandwich (which originally has chicken on it), but I asked the waitress if I could have alligator bites on it instead of chicken. I didn't think they'd be able to accommodate, but boy did they ever! They delivered on that request and I'm glad they did, because it was very good with alligator. They should just replace it with alligator and not even do the chicken, but that's my opinion. Anytime I visit Lafayette, The Cajun Table is a must, especially during crawfish season. It is simply part of the tradition at this point. I came specifically for the crawfish and the Fish Out of Water appetizer, which I order every single time. That appetizer alone keeps me coming back. There is almost always a wait, so I typically head straight to the bar, settle in, and enjoy a cocktail while my table is being prepared. This visit I tried the Bayou Mermaid. It is sweeter than my usual drink preference, but it was surprisingly very good and well balanced. I believe my server's name was Haley, though I may be mistaken. Either way, she was attentive, pleasant, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The crawfish were amazing as always, seasoned well and served hot. We visited the Cajun Table on Saturday. Nonc was our waiter. He was attentive and answered all My questions and gave some suggestions. I ordered the shrimp wrap and my husband got a shrimp poboy. All our food came out perfect. It was delicious. My husband paid with his credit card and unbeknownst to him forgot it inside the receipt book. We realized Tuesday that this was the last place he used it. I called and they had our card. I came in today and picked it up. When we arrived, the staff acted as though they were unaware of our call and appeared unprepared to accommodate our group. Our party remained polite and respectful throughout the interaction. While our guests were arriving, we observed open seating in the restaurant, yet we were not being seated. We also watched other customers continue to enter and receive service while our group was left waiting. Ultimately, despite having approximately 30 people present and available seating in the restaurant, we were refused service altogether. As a predominantly Black group, this experience was deeply upsetting. Based on how our party was treated compared to other customers, many of us were left questioning whether racial bias played a role in the decision to deny us service. Whether intentional or not, the treatment we received felt discriminatory and left a lasting negative impression. We would appreciate an explanation for why our group was denied service despite our advance notice, available seating, and willingness to be patient and cooperative. This is the second time I go to The Cajun Table and they forget to have a waiter get my drink order or food order. They completely ignored us and served others that sat after us. We waited 30+ mins and watched others get drinks and food orders done. I like their food but the service is not good. Ive had a few bad experiences with this place in the past. But I really wanted boiled crawfish before the season ends and my favorite crawfish place Crawfish Boss ended their season I decided to give them another chance. I regret going. I haven't been in 2 years and the crawfish don't even taste the same they used to be good. Flavor totally different. There not bad but not nearly as good. We step out to smoke while waiting for our order come back and they have totally cleared the table threw my full beer away. The waitress comes asks if we need anything i told her more dip and another beer she was in such a rush to leave she missed the last part she brought the dip and quickly ran off again. after 10 minutes i asked where my beer was and it was oh you didn't tell me that. it wasn't that busy. Then when we got full we went to smoke. Again they cleared the table we had left overs we wanted to take home didn't even ask us. then they rushed us to pay bill. We wont ever be back. I noticed most of the 5 star reviews are paid reviews many of which live out of state. Im sure this food is good to those coming from areas with bland food but us locals don't care for this place. So. It kills me to give this place any kind of negative review.. that said. We came tonight on a Sunday. Table of 7. There was a long wait. That's fine. It was busy. So we went to the bar and had 3 drinks. All good so far. Then we get seated. Approx 1 hour wait. That's fine. As we sat, we waited 20 minutes at the table and had ZERO interaction with a waiter/waitress. Other tables came in and were greeted AND served. I didn't want to ask a waiter to take our order because, that's not our job. After 20 minutes we walked to the exit and the girl up front asked if everything was good ?? Well it would have been, if we had been served. Again. The food is excellent. The drinks are excellent. The service, the other 4/5 times we've been has been great. But tonight. I have never been treated so poorly. We walked right out and ate at a Mexican place up the road. I gave this review on Google as well. Everything was delicious and had great flavor. I appreciate the seasoning. The draft beer selection lacks big time but at least they had a few good bottles. I recommend the gumbo. You can tell they know what they're doing. My shrimp wrap was so tasty! I would eat that again daily. I had to try the gumbo and OMG it was out of this world. It was so flavorful and had just the right amount of spice for my taste. It came with rice, bread, and a scoop of egg salad. Very down to earth place w/ energetic/friendly staff and patrons. If going for the crawfish - 3 lbs is plenty. I recommend throwing in an extra boiled potato in there to ease the burnin! Don't get me wrong- you can get the crawfish mild- but where's the fun on that? Chase it down with a draft coors - and you have the makings of a beautiful night. This place has great food. I had the roux based Cajun gumbo with chicken and smoked sausage. It came with 2 slices of bread, 1 scoop of potato salad and 2 scoops of white rice. I was super happy with my meal. BUT sadly the "southern hospitality" at their 4510 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, Lafayette, LA location leaves something to be desired. I'm not a local, but I drove 15 minutes to eat here. I arrived at about 8:10pm on a Tuesday. The hostess (let's call her 04092024) offered me a seat at the counter. I was like, but there are 8 EMPTY TABLES. 04092024 frowned, and agreed to put me on "the list" which incidentally was nearly empty. Sure enough, exactly one group went in ahead of me. (They were closing in 45 minutes.) When it was my turn 04092024 walked me right past the completely cleared and ready to go 8 EMPTY TABLES with red and white checkered table clothes, and blithely parked me at a "tall table" with no table cloth near the front door in a draft across from the bar. I was like, "Really?" But I did not argue with 04092024. Nor did I get ugly. Because it's not my place to explain to Generation Z how best to manage her boss' restaurant tables. I still left a 15% tip for the waitress who was kind, but certainly hope 04092024 learns to treat other senior citizens better then she treated me. read more
