As a 20+ year customer, the food has always been good. My friends from as far as Morgan City know the food is great keep up the good work.

So, if you don't want to wait for 45 minutes at Jane's, then you are eating here.... Let's talk the three things you want when you go out: ambience, service, and great food. Well, the exterior of this place is nothing to look at. In fact, from the outside it looks like a dive. Inside, painted concrete block walls and then it's long tables with red tablecloths covered in plastic so you know it's down home style. On to service: promptly seated and our waitress took our drink orders. She checked back several times, gave us an update, and then apologized for the lengthy time one of our orders was taking. However, I did feel rushed when she wanted to pick up the check and it's not closing at 8:25pm, is it? Overall, Friendly wait staff. As for the food and the real reason for eating out, I tried the shrimp po' boy dressed while my partner got the boiled shrimp. Mine came out first. It's very fairly priced. Not too much dressing, mostly shrimp which is what you want. Six shrimp per half. Fresh roll too. Unfortunately, I finished half of mine before hers came out. The waiter apologized, but it's hot from the kitchen. So no worries. Oh, and you can order it mild, medium or spicy hot. And, it's so much fresher than what we can get at home in LA. read more

If I had to describe this place in one word it would be regretful. When you walk in it looks great, like it's been there forever and you expect really good food. I ordered as an appetizer the Shrimp balls you get four small something that taste like shrimp. I'll put a picture with it. I also ordered the stuff shrimp what cost right at $13 and they taste like they come straight out of the freezer at Walmart. You get six shrimp what a choice of fries Or boiled potatoes. You get two small baby potatoes cut in half that won't melt butter. Nice seafood. I was a little off put by the seasoning sprinkled on top of the the seafood. But I could also taste the seasoning inside. I wish the potatoes were cut in half so the seasoning could soak in. The boiled crabs were big and full The greatest downfall was the bathroom outside. First thing first. This Seafood Connection may be to proprietor of the Seafood Connection on Center St., but they are not at all the same place. The food is as fresh as it gets, and served in a nice, clean atmosphere. Don't go thinking it will be find dining, because you will be disappointed by the bayou decor and southern charm. However, with that being said its ambiance gives it a feel of its own. Food is wonderfully flavored at a more than reasonable price. Must haves: Shrimp balls are unlike any I've had anywhere else. Crawfish are spiced to suit any palate. Fried fish has a wonderful buttery flavor that really stands on its own even when fried. Frog legs are simply put perfect. Don't forget to get the crawfish dip, and basically dip anything and everything in it. Crawfish are boiled right out back, and served piping hot. The seafood platter has a wonderful array at a seriously unbelievable price. For those of us that are accustomed to the fried foods of the South, you'll recognize the freshness of the grease they use by the bright golden flavor of the freshly fried seafood. This may sound odd to mention, but keeping clean fryers and clean grease is a testament to how well the food is cared for. Trust me, it makes all the difference in the world. Wasn't the biggest fan of the fried oysters...but that's about it. read more

The food was 5-star but the ambiance was not, although it was fine for taking the delicious meat out of the boiled crabs. The crabs were boiled perfectly and just spicy enough. The sauce was plenty spicy and the spice mix in the large shaker could add much more heat and taste. We ordered 6 crabs. My wife ate one and kind of gave up. It took me two to develop my skill at extracting the succulent meat and then it was just heaven as I worked through the other three. Poor wife got bored, but I just enjoyed. Our waitress divided the gumbo dinner into two, so that my wife and I could both savor it and it was savory--dark brown and filled with small shrimp. The white rice was served in separate bowls so that each one could add a little or a lot. My wife ordered crawfish etoufee and she loved it. I thought it was good, but gumbo is more to my taste. Don't wear fancy clothes, if you are going to order boiled crabs. It's a messy but wonderful experience and you will need to wash your hands in the large sink. We didn't have a very good experience here. The crawfish had very little seasoning, and the service was poor. But we expect bad food in New Iberia. (Why can't The Berry keep a good restaurant open?) Here's what really bothered me. I ordered a four-pound order of crawfish, and I swear that one in four crawfish on my plate had no tails. I was amazed at the ridiculous number of tail-less crawfish I had. Some of you who are more cynical than I, would say that they padded the order with extra heads, and sold the tails in other dishes. Some of you might accuse them of being dishonest. How dare you! You are jumping to conclusions. All I said was that there were a large and suspicious number of heads without tails. Honestly, give them the benefit of the doubt. Let's assume that what really happened was that the tails fell off during cooking, and ended up on someone else's order. They certainly did not end up in mine. Not one headless tail in my order... just tail-less heads. So we'll assume that some other customer will soon post a rave review telling us that they got dozens of extra tails. Those were my tails, and I hope they enjoyed them. Otherwise, the waitresses were cute (I'm 54, so all young people are cute to me), and the atmosphere is quaintly homey. Their beer selection is regrettable. We live in a state that actually brews some very good beer. But no local stuff was on the menu. Lots of godawful "lite" beer, but no Abita or other good local products. Shame! The best part of the meal was my date, who was amazing. But she's been my date every night since the 70s, so Seafood Connection can't take credit for her. Would I tell you not to eat there? Hell no. Go ahead. Everything else in New Iberia is just as bad. If you're not willing to drive to Lafayette or Abbeville, you might as well get your bad food here as anywhere else. I'll add this edit to say that if there are any aspiring restaurateurs out there who are willing to open a place where people can expect great food and great value, come to New Iberia. This place is crying out for just one place that really cares about their food and their customers. Just one! Anyone? Anyone? Beuller? Another edit: As of now, there are four reviews for this restaurant. Tourists rate it well, while locals don't. That's all you really need to know, I guess. This place should be an institution. Felt like half the town was there, not a single person texting or playing on Facebook... Everyone too busy talking with eachother and eating some unbelievable food. The crawfish is a must have, seasoned perfectly... The etouffee had incredible flavor. The service was attentive and genuinely friendly.. This is a no-frills place and crawfish eating is a great leveller.. Not for everyone, but definitely one for us... Let me start by saying this restaurant is in my home town. It has always been our "go to" place. We were very disappointed tonight. The crawfish are always tasty. But is now a rip off. I ordered a 4 pound order of crawfish (which I usually can barely eat) when I received my order, I noticed the tray (amount) THERE IS NO WAY ThEY ARE SERVING 4 Pounds of crawfish. Don't waste your money here.. I ended up ordering another 4 pounds because I was still hungry ..... I am a small lady, who can barely eat 4 #.......... Also, family members ordered boiled crabs, which were not full ( the waitress told us they were "heavy") and when we tried to exchange one that was totally empty they refused to do it. At $40.00 a dozen..... What a waste. I made my mark on this place. NEVER AGAIN. I gave them 1 star because there food is very tasty.... I went to seafood connection lastnight at 5;15 pm. bought me 4lps of crawfish, $21.59. ordered them seansoned. got them home. they were bland, no seasoning. called them they said owner would call me. NEVER CALLED ME, threw them in the trash. so I called the next day, talked to owner, she said you could of added seasoning on them. I SAID MAM, I ORDERED THEM SEASONED. you want me to put seasoning on the shells, then lick my fingers. sad to say, I live in this town, and they wouldnt make it right.ive been there a lot of times. she called me back again, just to tell me, she talked to the the girl that took my order. and she SAID I TOLD HER TO LIGHTLY SEASON THEM, WHEN I GET THEM HOME ILL ADD MORE SEASONING TO THEM. I can't believe this is the first review of this really great place that is often jammed to the gills w/nary a tourist in sight. This is a city of great seafood (Bon Creole, Boiling Point come to mind) and this Seafood Connection has the best crawfish of them all. A huge sink in one corner has a line of patrons waiting to clean up. The paper towel dispensers on all the tables get a work out. Highly recommend. You might have to pay extra if you ask crazy questions like: do u have wifi/; or do u take reservations. read more
