Great customer service as always but today the crawfish boudin was everything but crawfish and the 4% service charge just solidified why I will never drive another 3 hours and spend over $100 to patron this store again. We used to love driving here for the ride to get great boudin and spend a couple hundred dollars. Being disappointed, I called and spoke to one of the owners about my "crawfish" boudin and asked if they were experiencing a drought with their crawfish. He replied, no and that they actually put more crawfish in their boudin this time. I'm like sir, no way. I've been coming here since 2018 and I know the difference. There was more rice and seasoning as opposed to what it's advertised as. I mean, honestly, if he'd said yeah, we're experiencing the same 2024 crawfish season drought that has been happening everywhere because of the saltwater intrusion, then I could understand but to lie and deny the difference was asinine. I thought perhaps they have loads of crawfish frozen somewhere to avoid a drought but the difference between the prior year's crawfish boudin in shape, color and taste is very noticeable from the 2024's boudin. Today's boudin looks like red hot links on steroids minus the red color. C'mon, just be honest, sheeeesh! While the truth matters, I won't be back anymore. From the moment we walked in the door until we pulled out of the parking lot after a brief conversation with the owner, we were treated like family - and this was my first visit. The pork boudin is crazy good. I have never had such tasty boudin in my life. Seriously, though f I lived near New Iberia I would be here every day trying something new and taking home my boudin in a freeze dried container to enjoy when they are closed. My friend had a couple of their pepper jack boudin balls and didn't share. Can't say I blame him at all. The location is easy to get to and parking was problem free. Inside we were met at the counter by very helpful and enthusiastic staff who offered a sample which got me hooked instantly... nice job! I will be back. Nobody has ever came close to topping the crawfish boudin I've had a lot of crawfish boudin and no one can come close to Legnons. The sweet lady's behind the counter make you want to buy everything lol. I had the shrimp boudin for the first time and it was good. I let my buddy try some and it was a must we stopped here coming in from Alabama to Houston he is taking some back to Denver. This is just a butcher, not a restaurant, but I came here on the Tabasco tasting tour, so they'd prepared up some boudin (both kinds, pork and crawfish) and pork cracklins for us tourists to eat. This is supposed to be the best boudin in all Acadiana, and it was certainly the best I had: rich and creamy, not crumbly as in most versions. The cracklins were equally amazing, with not just fat attached but some meat too, putting the ones you get at Mexican groceries out here in California to shame. Best boudin in Louisiana, hands down. I was born and raised in New Orleans, but we have family in New Iberia so my mother has been feeding us this boudin all my life. However I never fully appreciated how good this stuff was until I got older and started to try other places while living in Lafayette for a year. Nothing compares. We started bringing this stuff out to our Saints tailgate a few years back, and it blew everyone away. The inside is always filled with customers but they have accommodated customers by having a pull number system and a couple benches (seating area) to sit and wait for orders to be prepared if necessary. Legnon's Boudin (capitalized out of sheer respect!) was the hit of the party at a recent Cajun feast in our San Diego home. The boudin was flown here and hand carried by a friend from the New Iberia area. Being from the Gulf Coast, I thought I had eaten boudin before, boy was I wrong. Legnon's boudin was the BEST I have ever had and as far as I am concerned, the last I'll ever eat. Our guests, all Cali natives, are now and forever, Legnon's boudin fans. It's a matter of opinion of course, but I find their boudin (either regular or crawfish) to be very greasy compared to other kinds I've tried. I mean, I prefer mine to be more like rice dressing in a casing, but there's drips an orange tinted grease when you eat it, if that gives you an idea. I prefer the brisket boudin from Bi-Lo on Lewis St. It's so much better. Their pork sausage is nice. I have only tried a few things from this place, so perhaps I just haven't tried the right thing. Their crawfish boudin was hands down the best boudin I have ever had. Around $5 a pound which is a great small meal for 2 people. Its perfectly spicy- one of the best foods I have ever eaten.
