Nick's on 2nd is a favorite of mine in Downtown Eunice. It originally was a historic bar, but has changed over the years and is now a homey eatery that has expanded into the next-door buildings. I guess it is worth mentioning that the establishment has operated under different names. It was originally Nick's, but at one point it was run as Ruby's Restaurant and Courtyard. Ruby's is still in business, but is now operating back at their original location around the corner on Walnut. You may find that the reviews and pictures for these two locations are somewhat mixed up on Yelp for this reason. Now Nick's is back to its original name, and is still going strong. The space Nick's occupies is indeed historic, and is located on the redeveloped 2nd Street with many other nice local businesses. The main section includes the old wooden bar from Nick's, as well as a beautiful high-ceiling dining area. However, the establishment has expanded into the other buildings next door, which includes their large and very nice restrooms. While you visit these, check out the collection of historical photographs of Eunice that are displayed in this hallway. The food at Nick's is indeed a fine example of Eunice home style cooking. Prairie Cajun cuisine often features rice & gravy based dishes that fill the stomach and sooth the soul. These involve a variety of stewed, roasted, or fried meats, and a couple of home-style vegetables. Plate lunches also usually include a small salad and dessert. It is a filling repast! If one wishes, there is a menu offering salads, sandwiches and Po-Boys, and other succulent selections. Seafood selections are of course available... A excellent thing about choosing to dine at Nick's is one can stroll over to the National Park Service's Jean Lafitte Prairie Cajun Cultural Center afterwards, or an ice cream and yogurt shop, or a excellent coffee shop, or go shopping in one of the local boutiques. It is a great place to be in Downtown Eunice. read more

Salad, 3 sides, shrimp, dinner roll, drink, and Dessert for $8.50 plus tax. (See photos) The food was really good and the portions were great. Parking can be a little difficult but it's well worth it. Very friendly staff in a busy location. This place is popular with the locals so expect a bit of a wait. read more

Went to dinner here with my cousin on her suggestion, service was great, food was good, atmosphere was great, nice southern hospitality, variety of southern culture foods, also some basic American foods also, didn't drink alcohol but there is a full service bar! Definitely worth a stop in for dinner with friends or family. read more

If you want a real home made hamburger this is the place. I have never seen a hamburger that is so big my wife and I shared it.

Placed a pickup order here at 4:55 pm, was advised it to take 25 or 30 minutes. We did not leave there until 6:10 with our order. I don't care where you go, but 1:15 min is just unacceptable on a pick up order. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

Food was good. A little pricey though. Big city prices for a small city. I've paid those prices in Lafayette and elsewhere. But Eunice is a small city. Prices shouldn't be that high. But overall the food was good. read more

We chose Nick's to host our wedding reception dinner and I couldn't be happier that we did. We had the banquet room to ourselves, with a party of 23 people, and we were beyond happy with the way everything turned out. They allowed us to set up the room before we had dinner, which was such a huge time saver. They were very accommodating. My husband and I's steaks were cooked perfectly. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal, and our server, Rian, was on top of everything. We had gone in to have boiled crawfish a couple weekends beforehand and they were fantastic, especially considering how early in the season it is. I've also had lunch with friends here and we were just as impressed then. They have a great burger and Bloody Mary. Basically, we can't wait to go back! read more

If you gonna come to Eunice for one reason come for Nick's! Fantastic food and even greater people. Everyone we met at Nick's was super friendly and they went out of their way to help us out. LOL had the most confusing order. I walk in to place and order to go. I ask for 6 fried shrimp, and a twice backed potato, she ask me what kind of salad dressing, I say ranch on the side. I wait for a bit, then she ask me if I want to pay for my order, sure, she has to ask for a pass word to check me out, someone finally gives it to her. She tells me a price, and in the middle of the check out, someone else takes her place and gives me a higher amount owed. I question it and they kinda brush me off. I pay, and have to wait for a bit longer. She brings my bag of food and ask if I want ranch sauce! HUMMM bit confusing. But I say no, I have some at home. GET home, I have 12 shrimp and no salad. The food was good, but the order was off and confusing with check out, and no salad. Most of the staff was young, so I will put it off on that! read more

First food stop on a road trip with my wife. Large seating area with few customers. Staff was friendly and attentive. Ordered grilled shrimp po'boy, gumbo, and garden salad. Grilled shrimp was tasty but just a bit too salty for us. Salad was large enough for both of us to share. Gumbo was so-so; probably would not order it again. Good meal overall. read more

Lots of servers passed our table. After 10 minutes we weren't even approached. Left after being ignored!

The only reason this gets two stars is because the food was delicious. Service was terrible. We brought a party of 12 before prom. For the second year in a row they lost our reservation. It took thirty minutes for a table to be prepared. Two hours later some of our kids still had not received their food. We ended up having the food boxed up because we were already an hour late to the dance. Next year we will definitely be eating some place else. read more
