I'm so glad we decided to venture to this little gem in spite of the few negatives reviews I read; which were really very silly. This restaurant is not a prepackaged, boxed food, chain restaurant. In fact it's really special and if you take the time to drive here you should take the time to scan the walls. They are filled with accolades and awards won over the years. I have no vested interest in this establishment nor I don't know the owner/chef. I'm just another traveler passing through, looking at this place more as a living piece of American culture, while avoiding all of the fast food spots dotted along the roads. I wasn't there when someone served overcooked food, but I will tell you that if something wasn't quite right a mere conversation with the sever would've resolved the issue. Dealing out nastiness isn't serving anyone and it isn't helping the management make things better for your dining experience and it isn't serving the community overall. We found everyone to be very nice & efficient at their jobs. The 2 of us arrived Sunday, 8/16/26, at 1pm. We were greeted & seated by a pleasant young person, which promptly was followed up with our server, Lauren, taking and serving our drink orders. Our Salads, Crab & Crawfish Cakes soon followed and cooked as requested; cooked throughout with no soft, fleshy middle. We also ordered and shared the Grilled Chicken, green beans & carrots -- DELICIOUS! Lightly seasoned, juicy & very tender. It was the best chicken we've eaten in a very long time. We skipped desert since we had to get back on the road to Texoma; but, we will definitely seek this place out and dine here again in the future. I took as many photos as time allowed. I hope you will enjoy this beautiful, rustic space as much as we did and don't forget to ask the host to give you a page of history about the building. Safe travels and Bon appetit! read more

Lunch here today after about a 1.5 year absence. Not too crowded, foods still GREAT, I had the Aubergine Napoleon w/ crawfish & crabmeat, side of grilled fresh asparagus.. Wife had the crawfish "enchiladas" in cheddar sauce. both were just wonderful. Reminded us to not stay alway so long. This place is about 25" North of the IH10-IH 49 intersection in North Lafayette. Well worth the little drive. Off street parking, partly paved & partly shaded private lot on Bayou Courtableau. Great waitstaff. Don't miss this hidden jewel and old favorite ! read more

This is the spot in Washington. 2nd time here and it was more impressive than the first. On the menu, the REDFISH is the way to go. I'm still thinking about it days later. Service was friendly, and everything came out promptly. Vibes are good. Would drive back to Washington just for this. read more

Took a brief detour off I49 on our way home at the recommendation of our son. Are we ever glad we did. Best meal we have had in quite some time. I had the seafood augratin and my husband had the crawfish enchiladas. Both were absolutely delicious and we cleaned our plates. Stacy was our waitress and she was excellent. We also enjoyed the restaurant aesthetic. Very pleasing. You can be sure we will be back! read more

Our first time to eat dinner at Steamboat Warehouse. The service was excellent from the moment we opened the door. No reservations required. Our waitress Crystal was perfect. She answered our questions about different menu items. We ordered our appetizers stuffed bell pepper. As soon as we both took the first bite we knew we made the right date night decision. We will return and invite friends to come back with us. Oh and the bartender can make a great margarita on the rocks. read more

Simply Delicious. If I could give 10 stars I would! This spot is a hidden gem. We are from out of town and this is by far the best restaurant and service. Valerie was our server. She is charming and a delight to visit with answering all our questions. Everything she recommended was simply heavenly! She made our dinner so wonderful. Definitely worth visiting. read more

Neat place with interesting history. Steamboat Gang Plank and Seafood Au Gratin was very good. There's a bar and wine list. It took a bit for the food to arrive but there's plenty to look at. There's a deck outside to view the River. Bathroom stalls are on the smaller side. I would come back. read more

Having had a good meal there some time ago I was hoping for more of the same, but a recent mid-week group dinner there was very disappointing. An Old Fashioned cocktail was fine although (to my mind) overpriced at $18. I skipped a starter looking forward to one of their specialties, the $44 Grass Fed steak. Over-cooked, a bit gristly and waaaay over spiced; the stuffed potato was simply a small foil-wrapped baked potato with trimmings on the side. Following the steak, I passed on desert. Overall, unimpressive. Not worth returning, especially at that price. Others at the table had seafood which was apparently good. read more

One of the best food stops you will have if you are a true foodie. Don't let the exterior scare you off, history is tasty. The bartender Hannah was the best for recommendations of food and a great conversation. read more

The atmosphere is really rustic and in theme for the historic city. The food is good and plenty of seafood dishes to choose from.

Really awful service start to finish. The hostess did not have it together, they would keep telling other guest one table ahead of them to keep the peace but would sit 2-3 tables. Then the food took a very long time time. Then she crab soup special had a very odd texture. Would not recommend at all. read more

This place is amazing! The food was so good!!! The waitress exceptional! My husband and I both had the grilled chicken and green beans. Cooked to perfection!! We will definitely eat here again! . The ambiance was really neat, too. It was inside of a real warehouse with wooden beams, rough wood, cement floors, along with historic pictures. read more

Food is OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS every time. Their specials are something to which we always look forward to - you never know what amazing entrees the chef will dream up and create. The decor has a cool historic vibe to it and you find yourself intrigued with the story of this old building that has survived through its various events through the years. read more

A friend took us here for dinner. I forgot to take pictures of the food but it was very good and well presented. They had good portions and good service. I got the baked potato soup and a salad. My husband got the redfish and our fried got baked chicken. It was all good and we had no complaints. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our drinks filled, she was able to give suggestions of popular items and such. It's a busy place on a Friday night with a live band in the back outside, we waited for about 45 minutes for a table, you give your number and they text you when your table is ready so you can go sit out back and enjoy the music. read more

Atmosphere was wonderful, charming, food was on point, we shall return. Service was quick !

Wonderful old building located on the bayou. The food is easily rated as good as the top 3 restaurants in the Lafayette area and is one of the best in the state. They do not take reservations and the parking lot is very small so get there early or expect to wait and to walk. Great for kids as the old building gets very loud. read more

Great food and atmosphere. I've been going to that place since I was a child. Great memories.

Recent business trip took the group here for a Tuesday night dinner and I'm happy we made the drive. They didn't offer seafood gumbo so I started out with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo which was thick and excellent. There are too many good sounding selections on the menu to mention but I ended up with one of the evening's specials which consisted of an 8 oz blue catfish filet smothered with a creamy seafood sauce with fresh Bluepoint crabmeat. Along with their sugar carrots and twice-baked stuffed potato it was an excellent meal. Service was friendly and on-point as well. I'll return. read more

This restaurant used to be very good, however, in the last year it has really gone down in quality. My dad always gets the best steak on the menu and I couldn't believe what he paid almost $30 for! His Ribeye steak was overcooked and very, very thin. The other dishes my mother and I had were seafood and the fish was dry, overcooked and the sauces on the top looked like they were old and had been left sitting for hours. I think its time we stop coming here! It's just not any good and a waste of money! read more

This is a cool place to visit, although we are always disappointed in the food. It's pricey for what you get and not nearly as good as anywhere else in Acadians. The serving sizes are a little small and flavor is very rich and heavy. They love their sugar carrot sides and it would be better to have other options. Overall it's "ok," but overpriced and mostly hype. That said, it's a fine stop for tourists. read more

Painfull and sorry to see the economy downgrade this once great restaurant. We work hard for our money and when we choose to eat out we expect at least some value or entertainment for our $. Our group paid 25 dollars a plate. No bread or roll with the meal. No dinner salad. Just a protein, candied carrots only, and small baked potato. Finished the meal eating appetizers somewhere else. A shame. Go south on I 49 and that 25 dollar plate goes so much further. Long time customer and now the extra gas money is worth it. So sorry S.B.W. read more

We dined there on a Saturday night. This was a throwback to my youth as it was our regular Saturday night spot for family dinners back in the mid-late 1980's. I wanted to revisit for nostalgia's sake. It didn't disappoint. As we entered the very busy restaurant and headed to the bar for a beer while we waited for our food, we commented on how busy they were. A patron replied that this is the only restaurant in a 40 mile radius and I think it's true. The hostess estimated our wait time to be around 20 minutes, but it was more like 40-45. We were grumbling as we waited for a table and noticed that many of the patrons were regulars and seemed to get preferential service/treatment. After a longer than anticipated wait, we were seated at a table by the door. Our server took her time in greeting us - she was working hard, but also spent a great deal of time socializing with the patrons (she knew them) at the table next to us - catching up on the local news/gossip. It was frustrating, but the food was delicious. After the table next to us left, our service began to improve. I also found a signature of my father's left in 1985 when we dined there with him - it was on the table where we were seated. Truly, a very unique and unexpected treasure to find. The gumbo is delicious, you must try it! I had the seafood au gratin and found it tasty. I used to love their "paddlewheel potatoes" (mashed potatoes with sausage) and they still have a variation on those. I found them to be flavorless aside from the sausage. They could use some improvement and they would be out of this world. The carrots (the vegetable that came as a default side) were doused in honey. A great thing if you want to convince your kids to eat their veggies. I don't need that much sugar on top of my carrots, but I appreciate the effort. They were tasty. My husband had a steak (ribeye) and wasn't all that impressed, but we're spoiled when it comes to steaks (we have a fantastic steakhouse very near our house that we visit often). Tip: ask to sub the gumbo for the salad - there's a slight upcharge, but well worth it! read more

Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant - Chicken and sausage gumbo. Delicious!!! - Seafood Near Me - Washington, Louisiana

Went to this restaurant while in the area on business. We are from New York so you know that we can be very picky. This restaurant was fabulous!!! Starting with the decor. It really looks like an old wooden warehouse. I know that's not for everyone but we liked it. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Patiently described the food items we asked about. The food. OMG DELISH with a capital D. I had an unbelievable appetizer. Jumbo shrimp stuffed with oyster, wrapped in bacon and fried. Enough said. Main course was a Seafood Casserole. Best I ever had. Returning to the area in August for business. First dinner will be here read more

We went and have been going for years. They have always been known for great food and service. it was horrible the last time. My husband ordered the steak and he told me to taste it. I did it was so tough to chew I spit it out! I ordered the hamburger steak and it was half raw! Salads are not incdued ! read more

Most surrealistic night in a long time.... Arrived at the restaurant at 6:15 asking for a table for 12. We were told to wait in the bar. Of course we were happy to oblige, lol. Our bartender was fantastic, providing samples of all the drinks he was making for guests so we could have a more educated guess on what to drink. Wow. What a great start of the night!!! Some guy came up (Bob) and started a conversation with a member of our party. He was clearly intoxicated and informed us he wasn't just "some coon ass, but a member of the Cajun Mafia." LOL. He was going to sit us down at a table being cleared for another group, even if he had no affiliation with the restaurant. It was hilarious. (Maybe because the drink tasting???) Anyway, long story short, it took us almost 2 hours to get seated. Another 15 minutes to get water and an appetizer order in. Our waiter wasn't to be seen most of the night. We FINALLY got our food about three hours into our "dining experience" and it was old, mostly cold and uninspired. Too much time under the red light cooking other peoples food would be my guess. Most of us weren't hungry anymore, it was around 9PM now and the awesome bartender started taking its toll. LOL. All of this would be fully acceptable for a beer joint that serves greasy food at low low prices, but this place fancies itself as a quality restaurant. A regular entree is priced around 25$, you can't get away with mediocre. Anyway, we might be back, but only to sit at the bar, that part was awesome. The food sure wasn't worth it. The cook made my dish one too many times and poured no love or special care into it. Because of the party size the tip was included in the check, and clearly the motivation for our waiter was gone. Slow and uninterested. Got order, brought food, never cleaned up appetizer plates and empty glasses, people walked to the bar to get their own water. My dinner bill, for two people, including mandatory tip, was around 90$. No alcohol, we drank water. I regularly spend more on dinner with my wife and sometimes it even lasts 3+ hours. But those surely won't be 3 hours spent waiting, irritated with poor service and warmed up greasy mounds of uninspired food. read more

Food was delicious and our server was just amazing!! Nice view off the back deck. Great place to go!

This was a great detour on our way home today. Found it on Yelp. The food was amazing and well worth the stop. It's kind of a hidden gem but if you find yourself in the area you have to stop. We started with the blue crab crawfish cakes as an appetizer. Cynthia had Redfish with a garlic herb sauce and I had catfish with rice pilaf topped with crawfish etouffe. I can't express how great the food was. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We arrived 30 minutes before closing and did not get bum rushed. Check it out read more

the food there was fantastic, I ordered the Ice cream covered Twinkie as well as the polar bear surprise. the Twinkie tasted just like how my nani used to make em back in 86'. the nostalgia was overwhelming. however apon entering the restaurant I quickly realized that no steamboat was present inside or around the proximity of the resturant which left my 22 year old son very sad because he loves steamboats. but since he wouldnt shut the fuck up I had to kick his ass and leave him in the car. so maybe change the name to something like "restaurant that serves Twinkies" to be more transparent to what's included in your dining experience. my server Melisa was very nice and even gave me a complimentary hurricane which they named after Catrina. which I don't think is good because its bad. the end thank you for listening to my Ted talk read more

Great food and great service! We started out with the stuffed mushrooms & crab cakes. For entrees we had Crawfish Palmetto, Flounder Etienne (one of the specials), Seafood Augratin, Softshell Cypremont (she swapped the herb sauce for Palmetto sauce). The entrees were served with either potatoes or rice and carrots. We all shared bites from each other's plates and EVERYTHING was delicious. When it came to dessert, we decided to once again share-we ordered one of everything: cheesecake, pecan pie, and creme brûlée. Sadly, they were out of bread pudding. But, the other three were very tasty. Our waitress was amazing and made sure to take care of anything we needed. Shout out to Tracy! read more

Sunday Lunch was excellent, Redfish Lafouche...finished with some of the best Bread Pudding in Louisiana Very good spacing at tables for safe dining at this time. Patrons must wait at door to be seated and must not enter until others ahead have been seated. Concerned that wait staff are not masking...some patrons not masking but were very few.
