Southwest Louisiana is home of the Cajuns & Creoles, that food is authentic here; the area is not famous for its Mexican food. But the food is still muy bueno. Los Ponchos has a separate entrance, and it's easy to see the sign from Highway 397. It's within half a mile from I-10, so if you're speeding between Lafayette and Beaumont, it's not far out of your way. The menu is full of things to eat: enchiladas, tostadas, tacos, quesadillas, even steaks and burgers (huh?). Or you can build your own combo, which I did: three items for $14.99. * Beef enchilada - the best of the bunch. Strong beefy taste. * Chicken taco - I had the soft taco, and it was so full of chicken, tomatoes, and lettuce that it spilled out onto the plate. Nice taste, tender chicken. * Chicken quesadilla - one tortilla folded over, and the cheese was gooey inside to hold that tender chicken inside and give it a nice flavor. * Served with refried beans & rice. I found another place that puts cheese on its refried beans, giving it a much better taste. Chips come with black beans in addition to salsa, a nice touch. Meanwhile, it is a clean place, tiles painted to look like south of the border. Not exactly authentic, but it does the job The ranchero and cumbia music sets the mood. Service with a smile. I was a lifelong Californian, and that state has some of the best Mexican food in the country; Mexicans moved north of the border, brought their recipes with them, and opened a place to eat just like home. Los Ponchos' food is up at THAT level, it's that good. If you're picky about your Mexican food, then make it a point to visit here. The casinos don't need your money, they're making plenty from the suckers, so don't be a loser, Los Ponchos is a winner.

They typically choose where to eat when we come visit and lately this has been their preference. Not many options out here, but honestly, compared to all the options in Baton Rouge, it's pretty comparable to a Las Palmas or Casa Maria as it has a chain feel to it. Three other locations in Louisiana, but my in-laws say this location in Jennings offers a bit more on their menu however. We've sampled quite a bit on the menu (kids' chicken tender and fries meal, chimichanga, tortilla soup, fajitas, taco salad with grilled shrimp, and of course salsa and chips. Again, nothing incredibly unique but pretty standard quality Mexican food and options. A few reviews mentioned service, and I wouldn't criticize it honestly. Everyone has been nice, they appear to be slow with taking our order and bringing our food, however, they've been busy every time we've been here, so it would make sense to take a little longer. The servers always seem to be hustling quite a bit too. So yep, check it out, and see for yourself!

Not necessarily bad, but they weren't the same as the dozens of times I've had them. Almost like they were cooked in a sauce of some kind. I'll have to order again to see if it was just a fluke or they changed the recipe. Service is quick and efficient with friendly waiters. Interior is your typical Mexican restaurant decor. La Rumba is great for family or large groups as the have plenty of seating.

Delicious Tex-Mex!…read more Came here with my dad and enjoyed the food and overall atmosphere. I went in here thinking it was authentic Mexican food, but it's more of a "Tex-Mex" styled restaurant. You can order basically two things: Quesadillas (About $8 each- Comes with 2 pieces) or Tacos (About $3.50 each). Your choice of meat will determine the price. I ordered the Carne Asada Quesadilla and Fish Taco. They were both yummy. I highly recommend the fish taco, it was absolutely delicious. Give this place a try!

I walked in at 7:47 to place a Togo order for 3 tacos, thinking that they were open for another hour. I tipped 20% on my Togo order and waited patiently for my food. It was ready within a few minutes. The second thing you need to fix is your employees attitude. It's not my fault as a customer that you have incorrect signage. You have to dress your tacos yourself at a little self service buffet. When I politely asked the young lady if they had onions I was rudely told they were out because they close at 8pm. I told her the door said otherwise and she then explained that they changed their hours a few months ago. I told her thank you and she completely ignored me then stared at me as I walked out. I've been in the service industry for 25 years and would never treat a customer this way.

Our waiter was extremely attentive, refilling our chips and salsa before we were out, and remembering our specific drink orders for refills. Chips were served warm with three different salsas - a great variety of spices, and warm chips are just my favorite. I got the salmon plate with cilantro rice and lettuce/tomatoes/cheese on the side. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the rice was nice and fluffy. Great portion size as well!! The menu wasn't too big so it was much easier to narrow down on a decision on what to eat. Highly recommend as a quick spot to satisfy any Tex-Mex craving.

Did it wow me? No. But it definitely got the job done. Maybe I was starving, but the burrito really hit the spot. The steak was cooked perfectly -- which is rare since it's usually dry and hiding under a blanket of cheese sauce. This one actually had great flavor. The crispy taco, on the other hand, was mid. See that, young kids? I got the lingo. Overall, I'd come back if I'm passing through. Service was great, the bartender was super friendly, and the place is very affordable. Bonus: if you need to charge your Tesla or other electric vehicle (no discrimination here), this is a convenient stop. Cheers, y'all.
